Most people assume that films like this are made with one person, which is not true. Belive me, it's hard for me to draw anything than what I'm comfortable with, but another person may be able to do that. I'm not saying that I'm bad or incompetent when I say I want to work with another person, and think it's encourged In major studios to work together on a film. Sorry I'm rambling, but it's true, you need to work together with others or you will not get anywhere.

I like the interface but it is much slower and has less options/ or let's say you need to do more things to get the same effect. PS and LR together are just faster maybe it doesn't matter with the newest gpu and CPU but I saved so much time after I started using PS and LR. Still nice that gimp exists would have maybe never started to edit pictures without it

I think SOME of them artists have the possibility of using blender in some parts of the pipeline, probaly just modeling with subD workflow and unwrapping, after that they probaly export to maya or houdini

So like that, we need a faster workflow, especially for rigging, sculpting, hair grooming, texturing, and even grease pencil sometimes has a lot of extra steps. Like colors in grease pencil are materials, which is nice, because tweaking the material will also tweak the strokes done with it. but setting up a material is time-consuming, while in Krita or something we just choose a color from the palette and draw. We need both. material and color picker workflow.

I personally still have to try out Blender 2.8, so I don't completely know how much is fixed now. Got used to most of the quirks you mentioned, but of course that doesn't mean everything is working perfectly.

I mean it was probably sculpted not modeled. You can’t have such high details with just modeling. That’s why you usually don’t model characters at least completely. There’s always some amount of sculpting involved unless it’s a low poly character. Like you said how many extrusions can one have in a goddamn leg

I think is sculpting instead of using extruede, for that amount of details sculping will be much easier. Also, it will create better performance via scuplting then using the edit mode.

Yeah, I loved that part too! Character detail in animation is SOO important when it comes to making them have a personality! And did you notice how, after re-adjusting her grip, she looks down to make sure she got it right? BRILLIANT! More than I've seen in major movies released in theaters, by giants like Disney.

Once you decide to learn, you'll start learning. I used to be very intimidated by Blender, but just one day decided to learn. A few months later, I was making some rather nice art. Still have so much more to learn, but that process never stops for anyone. There's tons of great free tutorials right here on KZbin, but you'll only start to learn once you decide to.

They did make some behind the scenes for Spring. Look up, "Spring - Blender Open Movie Showreel" It doesn't show everything like audio. But it does show the character design, modeling, animation and lighting. There's also a video that's an hour long called, "Spring open movie - Production Report" It has some of the creators talk more about their progress.

@@CephalonBread its easy :). Create a new scene then: Pess Shift+A then select the monkey from Meshes to add it to the scene. Select Suzzane then press space or F3(2.8), choose Quick Smoke. Look at the properties menu, switch to Flow, then find the drop down that says "Fire," then change it to Fire + Smoke. Press play(space(2.8) or shift +a), there you go :D

Actually the film started in 2.79! It was finished in 2.80 which was one of the most challenging aspects of the production, but it was required to make sure 2.80 was production ready and most bugs sorted out. 🫡
