Hello, i just had a really cool idea and id like it to be stored in a mind of a dev to be brought to reality maybe one day, so pls read this blender devs: What if we could use normal blender shortcuts in geometry nodes? Instead of fiseling with the transform node simply make ur adjustments in the viewport as usual and the transform node tracks it automatically, also modifiers would be amazing to be visualized in geo nodes, especially for beginners it would be amazing if while scattering a few things, or using particle system and force fields everything would be built into your node tree... why then not simply using only the normal viewport without nodes? Well cause it's not procedural, think about it ur entire workflow could be "recorded" into geo nodes and u can make changes of everything when ever u want, also it would boost the learning curve, cause u would see while using a force field on particles how this is built in geo nodes etc... speed wise i think this would double the geo node workflow because i think even the pros r faster in normal viewport, shortcuts r faster than connecting and sliding... cheers :)

Almost every creative can relate to the feeling of conceiving an incredible idea only for it to grow too ambitious too fast and actually become not viable. My heart goes out to everyone involved. I think what we got was still a great technical achievement for blender studio and the program itself. great work as always, good luck for the future.

I can empathize with the writer very much, You have scenes that convey emotions that are critical to the narrative. But I think they worked well together producing a very impressive technical showcase, with enough narrative to be captivating. Cut downs happen, you made the best of it. :)

The transparency is so refreshing. It's heartbreaking to watch something that was so emotionally and personally important to someone not coming to fruition. It's heartbreaking to watch the team so low-energy and so demotivated. But it makes us understand how difficult these conversations can be, and what we must consider as creatives. Keep these coming!

Ah, this makes it clear what happened inside. Testament of knowing the story, the pipeline - and knowing the workload, the technical debt. When the project was announced to be NPR with Cycles, I knew it would come with a large technical debt! I was hoping you could pull it off! But alas, a lot learned. I do hope the Blender Studio will be able to produce full feature films or televisions series, even web series one day, that the pipeline and financing gets to that level! Hope the lessons learned from here will open doors to more efficient pipelines and workflows for longer stories and smaller teams. Power to you.

For a long film or a tv series you need a ton of manpower. They should move to a bigger place or to subcontract another studio. Besides to manage a big budget to do so.
@trinumedia18 күн бұрын
@@pausantandreu Yes, more budget, more man power, more scale, and also more efficiencies developed to do it. You don't need a massive multi-hundred team to do feature animation though. If the toolset is sharp, a few dozen could do more than a few hundred artists in the same timeframe. That would be the ideal.
@GaryParris2 ай бұрын
amazing as always and despite everything and having to rethink it, it shows how something can be difficult in workload, vision and emotion, i salute you all for what you achieved and am amazed in how you you all deal with the situation and the difficulties. may you continue to break new limits in your direction. Such a sad ending, I feel this would have been by far the best film produced at the studio in both the tech and story but for that you need time and energy. Something else will come up!. The showcase looks fantastic tho!

23:45 please stop saying magig , it is magic.. NO is hard, really hard work and a lot of effort with knowledge that cost years to be learnt. This project is amazing as it is. For me was like seeing Sorolla live in some parts. The color is wow!, i love every frame. and I understand the story. Francesco, you has transformed a hard situation into something valid and useful and for me is not the original goal, call it fail if you want, but maybe is the change that Ton was refering to. Finally is something different that is useful as content and promo for studios. Congrats to the team.

The biggest issue as an outside observer is that there were great visual metaphors, that work on paper and in imagination. But without concept art or concrete visual representations it is too much to put in singular shots. Locking in on visual symbolism that has to be clearly readable by the audience is a death sentence when that symbolism doesn't reside in the public culture or the film has enough time to explain these symbolism.

I hope this project can continue to be pursued someday, the author seemed really passionate about it and the tools produced from the project were incredibly useful, It's really saddening to know that the field got axed due to something so simple, nevertheless incredibly important, but given the clarity this video shed on the situation, things just didn't work out, which is completely understandable, cuz Brush Stroke Tools still kicks ass!

I would have loved to see the final result. Who knows, maybe I still will, at some point. But overall... I can fully understand everyone here. And to make those decisions - it's hard. To show that here... I personally would say, that is even harder to go out with something like that. Showing the "funny" and successful side of a project is one thing, but like here, showing why it didn't work - might be even more important? I mean, you learned the lessons. And you can only miss the shot you take. You all tried, and bet you all did your best - but it didn't work out. And to say it with the "words" of Jean-Luc Picard: It is possible to commit no mistakes and still lose. That is not a weakness. That is life. Thanks for everything here. Maybe the end product wasn't what was planned. But from my standpoint, what you all have created, learned, shared and showed - it was certainly not a failure. Good luck on your next projects - everyone :)

I think this is a new level for Blender. Perhaps this is the only right way to develop this software. Blender will never catch up with Houdini, nor Nuke, nor Adobe Premiere. Doing something new is much more attractive and useful for creativity.

Dear Blenderheads: I love learning about Blender! I am not very good with it since I am having a hard time getting my head out of the CAD Solid Modeling world I have known for 20 years, but I try. I love seeing videos that talk about people to follow and learn from on KZbin, but I have had a nightmare of a time finding Twitch streamers who are knowledgeable and do Blender tutorials that are not subscriber-only videos. I want to find more Blender community on Twitch that I can interact with and connect with. Most people I find streaming Blender on Twitch are in Europe streaming in their native languages and so auto-translate stuff is rather out. Can you suggest any Twitch streamers who stream regularly and do simple and advanced projects that a viewer can watch easily that are in English and are well versed in the software rather than learning to use it from the ground up? Being able to interact with a streamer makes things easier for me to learn than with merely following the many good KZbin tutorials that are out there. I am certain such streamers exist on Twitch, but Twitch does not exactly have the best discovery tools, and Blender is not a category that I can find since everyone is categorising their streams as "Art". If you can help with this, I would be eternally grateful to even be pointed in the right direction! Thank you so much! -Kim

The crazy part about this is the writer was so married to the idea that there was no room for making changes. No flexibility, so that will definitely cause stress..and cause division. So unfortunate. Not blaming anyone but it seems that the team couldn’t get on the same page with the vision.

The images look beautiful but I really didn’t find the story compelling, too much metaphorical and message driven, that’s a trend also in Hollywood in the last decade or more, too many movies get lost in the mechanics of the message, the moral lesson, the allegory for loss or grief or whatever feeling you try to express through allegory and that doesn’t really make for good storytelling or movies.

It would have been nice to see more interviews with the artists actually making the film instead of the "writers" bossing them around.

Both are equally important in a production. And think about what it takes to be so open and talk about everything. That takes a lot! It would be nice for you to develop a bit of empathy. But maybe you are just trolling?
@wrong_planet2 ай бұрын
@@karimieich Why does a 6-minute film with little to no dialogue need a "writer?" What is the "writer" doing in this instance that couldn't be done better by the lead artist storyboarding the shots? Perhaps if they hired more people with actual skills instead of talking about egg metaphors they would have finished the film.

@@wrong_planet First Rule of Screenwriting: Show, don't tell. It is as easy to tell a Story in dialogue (from and with characters) as it is boring.
