Just because something is not in a "liquid state" doesn't mean it won't get absorbed. Many of the difficult-to-extract polyphenols and other phytonutrients tied up in plant fiber are ultimately freed up by the microflora in our intestines, where they are then absorbed by the body. This is how many of the benefits from legumes and plant carotenoids are obtained. That's why I prefer blending as it retains much more of the nutrient-rich fiber. Our physiology has been honed over countless generations to handle whole foods, so is it any surprise that our bodies can benefit so much from (insoluble) fiber?

I have a Health Master, I used it tonight, it made an exceptional smoothy. I used 1 whole carrot, 8 white grapes, 1 pear, 3 crowns of broccoli, one pink lady apple, 3 strawberries, and 1 stalk of celery. Man was that good.

The juicer takes the fiber away from the juice which is bad. You lose more of the nutrients that way. I totally prefer the blending because the integrity of the nutrient is kept in tact.

I actually prefer blending to juicing.. I had a juicer, but got rid of it after I got my vitamix. I like only having to blend for 45 seconds as opposed to doing all the chopping, several minutes of juicing, and several minutes of cleaning from juicing.. Either way is a good choice.

This seriously just answered everything I've been thinking! I finally talked my dad into passing me his vitamix - I made ALL my baby food 4 years ago with my youngest - and have had cheapy blenders though-out the years -- I do a lot of smoothies, but a lot of them call for yogurt - I am definitely looking into getting a juicer - as they both are beneficial!! Thanks!

I believe blending is a much better way for a healthier life as you retain that fiber. Also, if you have a low powered blender and use water, it is totally fine. Yes you dilute the actual stuff, but you body still gets every bit of the nutritious value from the smoothie that you do without using the water as this is processed in the small intestine. I think the guy has a mentality that the more expensive a product is, the better it is. Yes, that is true to a degree, but in some products, you are paying for the brand. You can get some starbucks coffee and another coffee from another company and they each taste great, yet the starbucks is priced higher.

Yes, when initially dehydrating there is high water content in the foods, which will prevent the temperature from being too hot, and this will speed up your overall dehydration time.

I tend to juice mostly vegetables and only mix in apples or pears (and maybe lemon) for flavor. Otherwise I do not mix them. I generally only put in less than 5 ingredients at a time. I also do a fair share of mono juices.

Certain juicers will juice celery better than others. Each juicer has their pros and cons. If you want to juice alot of celery take a look at the green star elite or the omega 8004/8006 which does a fairly good job at it.

Hey John, Love your vids. Thanks so much for sharing. Love your juice off vids. Is it possible to drink too much juice in a day? I am currently drinking about 100 oz of juice a day and have a few friends concerned with my consumption. I honestly feel I could live on juices, which I pretty much do. I also include one pitcher of green smoothie a day in addition to all my juicing. Do you see any danger in this way of living? I feel amazing.

John, you inspire me daily! I invested in my Vitamix & PowerGrind Pro recently. My issues are mostly gas & bloating so, I assume food combining info is next. This is confusing to me... should I separate fruits from veggies? Stick to mono-juices/smoothies? Eat vs drink? Too much info but not enough clarity... help...

to drink the oxidised fruits, doesn't that beat the purpose of being nutritious and healthy? I like the fibre, but I think if I need fibre I can eat some solid fruits. If the juice/smoothie going to have lower nutrition value. why am I drinking it? some opinion please?

Thanks for the good info John, I have had a Nutribullet for about 3 mo. now and I just got a centrifugal Juicer today (Hamilton Beach). I am hoping to be able to combine the 2 because I can't stand the cucumber and carrot pulp from the nutribullet but plan on juicing harsh things with thick skin but use the nutribullet for the greens and soft fruits. I think all that pulp is wasteful. I need the fiber! :) Anyway, Love your videos

I agree with him. I've done all the experiments both blending and juicing. Juicing all the way for me as fibre is only good for bowel movement. I can get the fibre from other nutrients like Chia seeds etc. Blending also gives me bloating effect as my body cannot digest fibres very quickly. But then everyone is different.

i got a book written by Charlotte Gerson(the Gerson Therapy- Page:122) and she says that there are more than just one juicer that works including blenders but in the end they say that the two step juicers work the best (Norwalk...)........Blenders takes more stuff to get the equal amount of juicer.

Are you ever going to sell the Vitamix Advanced? It's the commercial grade model of the Vitamix. It's got the same features except it's now higher horsepower at 3 horsepower so it has the same horsepower as the Blendtec but the much higher 37,000 RPM of the Vitamix series. Jamba Juice uses the Vitamix Advanced and their drinks come out really good.

Juice celery & cucumbers and then use the juice for a great smoothie. Frozen bananas keep it cool, even a vitamix. Blend for just enough and it's a great smoothie. I still have a hard time figuring out what to do with pulp from my juicer. {{sigh}}

I personally drink 100 ounces of juice most days and also eat other things. If it were me, I don't have a problem with it, but I would go to fitday*com to see the nutrition and calories that is being consumed to ensure it is enough. I would also tend to drink more vegetable than fruit juices.
