I agree, the Brave and the Bold #125 with the beautiful Jim Aparo purple cover is nice to have -- great haul of Archie's too 👍😊

Another great watch! I'm really big on holding The Brave and the Bold as well as DC Comics Presents from a certain period. Love reading single issue team up stories. Nowadays EVERYTHING is a tie in or 3-8 issue arc ...it's not always feasible to get new issues, I live in the WEEDS 😅 Looking forward to the next episode already! Maybe you'll find more Archie Andrews reading R. Crumb ZAP comics!😂😂😂😮😅😅

It's nice to see this assortment of 60s and 70s comic books which I think is also representative of what a lot people were buying off the racks at that time. Archie comics were some of the best sellers in the 60s to the early 70s and still sell well in digest form today. We forget that there were a lot of female readers as well back then and that female readership started to drop as the 1970s progressed. If they published Romance comic books now, I wonder what they would look like? Swipe left?

Congratulations on 5K subscribers. I've been with you since very, very early in your channel, and the videos are always fascinating. I do miss the CGC unboxings since you've quit submitting, but I love all of the other content as well.

Thought it was cool watching both of you going thru a recent collection pick up. And the box had such a wide variety of books. I found it insightful.

I loved The Shadow so much that I have to complete runs of it. Believe it or not, my favorite cover is from Frank Robbins, #8. And, there is no such thing as a bad Joe Kubert cover. He was gold. For the most part, Shazam (the ORIGINAL Captain Marvel 😁) was campy but what kid didn't want to have it especially after the TV show came out? Good stuff as always!

I think Betty and Veronica #228 get some $$$ because of a shower scene in the interior. Not positive on the #.

Not to be a buzz-kill (again), but that Archie's Pals 'n' Gals # 38 was published and sold in 1966. The first issue of Zap was (first) released in 1968. The character shown reading that Zap comic is a superhero (Superguy). So I'm thinking this is parody. At that time (1966) comics were about as campy as they ever got, and the Batman TV show (which was at the heart of it) was full of "pow"s, "bam"s, and so on. I think "Zap" would have been a word, at that time, that most readers would readily have connected with funny-book antics of the era. Still, given Zap's eventual appearance (as a very un-Archie comic), your issue would have some (originally-unintended) luster as an amusing curiosity.

That thumbnail, it brings back old memories of sadness over the situation that transpired over the weekend. I haven't seen the video yet just paused a Ad so I can comment about it. I don't know if the both of you will be having a discussion about it. Is that why you look so glum in the thumbnail or whether because you over paid for a collection. Oh I should be commenting with my other account name as Comic Tobey but that account is on the other phone. The link is in my description.

It’s experience at some point, and then you win some and you lose some. It boils down to grade. I rely on my ability to clean and press books to help me along, but that only goes so far.

Dave, when you’re looking to buy a collection, is there a certain grade you’re looking for, say it’s all mid-grade, are you still interested in that? I’m looking to downsize, I have a lot of books in the mid-grade but lots of complete runs from the 1970’s and 1980’s. Just curious if you have like a standard you look for in buying a collection. I’m currently going through my collection don’t have a solid number of how many but my collection is about 2600-2700 hundred books, a lot of good titles just lower grade. Not sure if you’d be interested.

Hi Allen, thanks for the kind words. It really depends what it is, but in bronze and up, yes, I really need higher grade material. I have too much mid-grade material at this point and I need to move some before I can take anymore. That of course changes with older era books, such as silver, golden age, pre-code. In those grades, I take any condition.

R.I.P. Ed Piskor. I'm thinking of selling all my comics, just sick of ... Well, everything. I have about 8k books... Mostly bronze and copper age. Former Overstreet Comic and Grading Guide advisor, as well as former shop manager. I've sold to you before at random cons over the years. I don't remember you ever turning down any handful of comics I ever brought you. :)
