I agree.even if he stuck around long enuf to write some more music to compare it to.i believe it would've evolved into completely different style.soup was already headed that way.peoples stubborn tastes couldn't keep up with his brilliance. In my eyes they could do no wrong.

@@lupusanthro5021 No Rain isn't a bad song just because it's popular. It's not their best (Drive, Soup, Change, St. Andrew's Fall) but it's still catchy as hell, lyrically powerful and relatable, and well produced. A lot of people never would have heard of the band without that song, including me.

He changed my life......my buddies were big fans and got to know him. They kept on inviting me to shows but I didnt take it seriously and kept saying no. Then he passed....I walked through one of their bedrooms shortly after and they were on his tv at Woodstock. I sat down because I saw something meaningful and real. Then Shannon said.."this is a song called soup". .....it was the end of NO.

This song reminds of the fall of 1993 after I had just moved to Colorado. This was the B-side to "No Rain". RIP Shannon.

I've been going through all of the 20th century music that I rejected at the time due to first impressions and so much great music around(you had to buy it back then too). These guys were way better than they let on. This simple live song is magnificent.

This version was actually on the no rain single b-side. Like unfortunately I discovered this magical band to late.

Definitely live version. No dubs, retakes, do overs, stoppage due to them going in a different direction. This live version of Drive is just MAGNIFICENT.

This song describes a real incident that took place at a used clothing store on Melrose Avenue where Blind Melon guitarist Christopher Thorn used to work. His co-worker, William, was going through withdrawal trying to kick heroin. That day, lead singer Shannon Hoon came by the store and saw the whole thing - it was the first time either of them had seen someone kicking heroin. Thorn and Hoon each had their own bouts with heroin; a drug overdose led to Hoon's death in 1995 at age 28. The song title is a reference to how William didn't drive - he would call friends to drive him to downtown Los Angeles to score heroin.

As a melon fan since the 90s I didn't know this. Thanks for the wonderful story. One of my favorites from them.
Essa música, ele diz que viu aquele menino acenar para um sonho, uma ou duas vezes. 🎶🤘🏼
