This episode is a metaphor for the fandom. When Hasbro released the series to begin with, they did not expect the fandom to ever grow to its current size. Each voice actor has had their Fame and Misfortune and has proven how much the enjoy but also disapprove of the fandom. The point of the episode was to communicate how the show staff think of the fandom and the head cannons that have been produced. They have tried every way to communicate their thoughts, even through song but the fandom continues to argue over every epidode. But even 1 change, 1 good thing like BronyCon's chariy auction, can make all the annoyances worth it. And just like it said at the end, the staff will still have to deal with the fandom but they choose to accept it and deal with the annoyances. And, the fandom can wait a while for different things to be revealed.

This was truly a deep and realistic lesson for the fandom and even in any fandom out there to be honest. I'm sure all of us have been guilty at some point complaining about an episode or season because of this or that and focusing on some unimportant parts. Yes, we want an engaging story and characters to really enjoy the show and be able to relate. Characters that are not perfect and relatable are what really touches us whether here in Brony Fandom or any fandom/series and such even when it comes to Disney or Pixar. I have several of my own quirks and issues and this show has truly helped me more than I thought a kids show could. It's just amazing how it helps so many and that's what we should concentrate and appreciate more. Thank you Hasbro, voice actors, animators, artist, producers, Daniel Ingrim, and all the rest involved for your dedication to make this the best series you can even with a few mistakes here or there. It's okay and will be okay. I'm proud to be a Brony and I will continue to enjoy it and take these lessons to heart and apply out in the real world and to help teach others too. Great video and review with your thoughts. Very well said AG! :)

This episode shows how Starlight has really matured. She really shines here and has become a really good friend to the Mane 6. She didn't use magic to solve the problem. She used a great solution to help her friends feel better. I don't care what the haters say. Starlight is a great character and provides so much for the show. And I swear, this year has become the year of Starlight shipping. Trixie, Twilight, Maud, Sunset, Rarity. So many little things that fuel the ships for her. Especially Twilight. And the absence of Spike IS Really Weird. Between the fact he has entries in that book and he would want to be there to comfort Rarity.

titan hades . I'm guessing Spike was away on business somewhere again. I remember back in season 1 in that episode where AJ an Rarity had a slumber party at the library with Twilight, she mentioned he was in Canterlot. I know it's not the best explanation, but perhaps they actually left him out on purpose. You know, because they knew everyone would ask that question instead of focusing more attention on the actual point of the episode. . . wow. Well played episode writers, well played. 👍

Good point there. Those people who badly want to live in Equestria miss the point that Equestria is fictional, but it is a reflection of the positives that society has to offer, such as the average person on the street that would help you up if you tripped and fell down on the sidewalk. I'm completely fine with the fact that Equestria isn't real, but I consider it a great model for how society can improve. (:

This episode is the polar opposite to Slice of Life. This episode shows that the creators want to stay to their roots and not cave in to the fandom's wishes, criticisms, etc. Pointing out character flaws/highlights, criticizing plot details and story telling, and yes (though not explicitly mentioned in the episode) romantic shippings... These ill compare to the theme, the heart of this series, Friendship is Magic. I applaud them for communicating this lesson to us. If it was the other way around... Eesh. Some things are just best left to the fandom themselves, not forced upon to the show.

If you recall Applegeek, back in season 6, in the episode "Every Little Thing She Does", Starlight accidentally flooded the entire castle with the storm clouds after mind controlling Rainbow Dash, and, if their friendship journal was buried on a shelf behind that many books, and, since it wasn't likely read very often till this point as Twilight has LOADS of other books, it's probably safe to assume that it never saw enough sun to dry completely, thus, turning into a soggy, crumply, (and when it did eventually dry), dust particulate full mess! xP Also, I'm flaw-ful! xD I admit, I was in that percentage that disliked the pacing and transitions in this episode. I found Slice Of Life to be better. But-! I completely agree with all your points and the main point of the episode! The song's lyrics capture that message perfectly, and, over-analyzing is a serious flaw of mine. So touche' Hasbro/Larson. Challenge accepted! I will analyze as that's part of me, but I'll always keep in mind the great, positive, generous, beautiful nature of this fandom, show and everyone involved! WHO'S WITH MEH?!? xD :3

I think Pinkies entrance is exactly like Tiggers introduction to Winnie the Pooh, no? :) Edit: ALSO, this is EXACTLY how I've tried explaining my view of the adult fandom! This show is about FRIENDSHIP, but most of the people I've met or seen online who watch the show can be very antisocial in like, rude off-puting ways. In that "I SAID CUT THE CRUST OFF MY SANDWICH, MOM" kinda entitled way. And how they can talk about some of the characters... eesh. Also, MOST people in the fandom seem to like Rainbow Dash as a PERSON because she has more stereotypically masculine attributes, those prized in society, and the men (not all!) who watch the show rarely seem to want to change WITH the show and its lessons. With all of the characters. They love Rainbow Dash because she is already them. Awkwardness around emotion, jokes at the expense of others to be "strong", obsession with being cool and "I don't care about anything cause that makes me the best and protects my self esteem". They refuse to change or CHOOSE to better themselves as people, because it's scary as it is for us all. But that is the opposite of what the show actually teaches. And the popular views of the other characters? Sexualized. The most feminine and flamboyant character, Rarity? Probably the most hated for being proud in a less relatable way than Dash, in a way that perhaps the male-lead community should open their minds to. Her personality is definitely as good as Dash's. Just different. Fluttershy? Quite often depicted as brain-dead/airheaded, and ENJOYED MOST that way! They love her meek-ness. Her discomfort. I swear, over half of the adult Brony community doesn't learn a thing from the show. They watch it the way the readers read that book. Missing the entire point. I love the show, and although I've been watching it as an adult since the show came out, your channel is the FIRST that I've actively decided to engage in. "Fandom"-wise. Because I don't want my perception of those who fund this show with their money to tarnish my view of the show itself as an invaluable source of entertainment AND knowledge! It's here to teach about being a positive, proactive role in your community AND to teach you to be supportive and thoughtful. I see all too commonly Bronies being... not introvert exactly, (Because I'm introvert!) but as I said, just really rudely antisocial and... creepy at times. But not creepy BECAUSE they like the show, just more in a respecting anothers' boundaries and opinions kind of way. Not seeking or at least respecting friendship at all! I bumped into someone at a convention once (They were actually looking anywhere but where they were going, on their way leaving a MLP art booth) who was dressed in MLP fan-gear and apologized sincerely in my very Fluttershy-like way, cause I'm just so shy and have social anxiety, and when the person looked up they didn't apologize at all and I swear they almost hissed at me like I disturbed the bridge they guard. Of course these are just MY experiences, and I know the majority of adult MLP fans would be a bit more misfit in nature (like myself) and introvert (like myself!). But many of the people I've met online and in person (mostly the men for some reason) looked about ready to question me on every friendship lesson with dead seriousness if I even kindly tried to go "Oh, I love MLP too! Twilight is my favorite!" just to deem me worthy to speak to them. Like jeez. ; -; I've also experience the extremely hostile and quite ironic "you don't belong here" mentality from many Brony men? I've been told that women don't belong in the fandom, and other times when not outright stated I was still treated, among other women, like a cute object and not a fellow fan with maybe a desire to actually talk about the show on an intellectual level. Like what...? THIS SHOW WAS AND IS AND HAS ALWAYS BEEN AS A FRANCHISE, MARKETED TOWARDS GIRLS! And you say I don't BELONG? Because this generation of men decided they like the show? So it's a boys club now? I'm sorry, I don't believe in such things! And how dare you! Of course, they never take kindly to being corrected and it turns into me being called all manner of foul, NOT friendship-lesson-approved sexist names and I just go on my merry way. But Applegeek, you seem SO OBVIOUSLY different than that. I respect you, as much as I can without knowing a lot about you personally, very much. And I know, were we to actually sit down and talk, we'd have a heck of a lot to talk about! With the people I've mentioned? Ehhh... not so much. Also, the children at the end who're like "We totally learned what we were supposed to from this book" are the children who watch the show. They don't engage in over-analyzing a good thing. They take things for face value, without harsh judgement of the details. Without pressuring creators or characters. But the adults? Yeah, missing the point so often. So yes, the way the ponies are handling their fandom of the Mane 6 is very relatable to me, as a fan but kind of an outsider to the FiM community. (At least, those who speak the loudest within it). v___v;

I'm a woman as well, didn't get into watching the series until the middle of season 4, but I haven't looked back since. I like Rainbow Dash, I like characters that have a lot of flaws and she definitely has that. I didn't care much for her in season 1 because I thought she was too arrogant and head strong, but after a while I ended up loving her as a character, so much so that she went from one of my least favorite to my favorite character. Her character has changed, she /is/ a lot better then she was in season 1. Yes, she probably has one of the most flaws; but that's kind of why I like her. (That's just how I am). I haven't gone to any conventions, kind of sad about that but they're a little far away and I don't have the money for them. I'm sorry that you've had such a difficult time with the fandom, I hope things get better for you. But yeah people who are being hypocritical and saying you don't belong here when the main target was originally females, is really stupid. It's a show that can be enjoyed by everyone, but it /was/ originally aimed at girls. People tend to forget that. I feel like I can relate to you though. I'm an introvert as well. I'm probably the most like Rainbow and Twilight, with maybe a dash of Fluttershy. Although I can admittedly relate to all of the mane six, which is nice. (Even if I have given Fluttershy a difficult time before). It's fun to be analyzing the show, and stuff that the show has done, but yeah going overboard with it, is definitely not an okay thing to do.

12:31 they're also missing the JOURNAL part of the Friendship Journal. Though one could probably blame Dash for that for mentioning meeting Daring Do in it as (at this point) they don't know Daring's real.

Even without the destruction of the golden oak library, the book falling apart is totally believable for me. How many times did that book change hooves. Much loved books fall apart all the time, and this one was half destroyed when Rainbowdash wrote in it, Pinkiepie added confetti cannon mechanics to it, and we know of at least one left over apple. I loved how you talk about the fandom really learning the lessons in this one. We always teach this stuff in kids how’s, but seem to forget it when we grow up. I think it’s great that so many adults watch this and are getting exposed to, and are relearning at least some of the lessons again. We should never forget the magic of friendship just because we grow up. Thank you Applegeek, and thank you Hasbro, so much! ☺️

I know I’m late but I just wanted to say that I loved this episode ever since the day it came out. Maybe it’s because instead of relating to those ponies who got judgy I actually related more to the two fillies whose friendship had grown stronger by the end of the episode. I learned a lot from this show and though there are some episodes that I don’t like as much as others, I still love it. As for Season 9, I’m really sad this show is ending. But the memories will always last. Hopefully the episodes stay on Netflix so I can rewatch them over and over again to reminisce, relearn old lessons, or even find new ones within them. 😇

I really like your thoughts about fandoms here. I have tried to engage in several fandoms, not just MLP - and I tend to overanalyze things a ton, probably because of my Asperger's. And while sometimes fandoms bring positive experiences, I've been confronted with a lot of unnecessary drama and hate too. Not against me but just in the fandom in general. And I don't know how to deal with it. I'm a mix of Fluttershy and Applejack - I'm shy, not that assertive, a people pleaser, and a little too honest at times. I just want to enjoy my show (or book series, etc) in peace gosh dangit.

The meta ness of this episode was off of the charts and it was absolutely amazing! From Applejack being popular, to Rarity being disliked to the meta ness of Fluttershy learning a similar lesson over and over. I loved it so much, and really this episode really does show how much they've all changed, while not a lot they've still changed, and it's great to see in this episode being let out and explored. There is just one thing you didn't mention that I noticed and liked a whole lot. During the song, they paired Pinkie with Applejack, Rainbow with Flutters and Twilight with Rarity. Now I'm not saying that's the writers, animators or whoever supporting these ships, I'm enjoying the fact that - even though Twilight has wings - she is still considered a magic-user like Rarity and that they matched the three kinds of Ponies together for this song. That was a really nice touch in my eyes. Nothing ship-related, just a nice way to prove that there is still, sort of, a symmetry between the six of them.

This is more than just the fandom. It shows that the show itself was supposed to demonstrate how friendship and your own relationships in real life don't just come and go. True Friendship is Forever. And you need to work hard if you want to preserve a friendship you have with someone. But most of the fandom seems to miss that point, and only focus on the characters and lore of the show, and not even think about the lesson the show teaches us. I used to be obsessed with this show when I was younger, but I never liked it because of the lesson it teaches. I only liked the show because of it's lore and characters. I admit I used to be like the fans shown in the episode. But now I'm older, and have faced the hardships of losing friends, and betrayal. I wanted to rewatch some of the shows and songs, and this, almost brought me to tears. I've always thought that friends come and go, but ACTUAL friends last forever. Even though I don't have a best friend right now because of trust issues, this show reminded me that it's not only the other person's fault if a friendship fades. It's my own too. A kids show teaches me more than my school ever did.

When I first saw this episode I felt it was the mirror that people needed to see, not just mlp fans but alot of fandoms. As time goes on it's apparent how much people really need to see it and understand what toxicness looks like. This episode showed perfectly how fans can blow things up to insane proportions forgetting that the staff working on the show are people too and they make mistakes. Alot of the mlp fandom do use common sense and understand what boundrides are, but not all of them do and again it's not just this fandom. The new Star Wars movies are a perfect example of just how bad it can get. I love all three movies, but the Rise of Skywalker is very clearly a direct response to the critisim for the Last Jedi. People refused to accept shake ups to the status quo and demanded that it be followed, then got exactly what they wanted and still complained anyways. If you dislike something dislike it, but DON'T be an ass about it to people who feel differently. Don't cross lines you damn well know you should'nt go over. It's one thing to voice a critique it's a whole other thing to go so far as to harass a director ON THEIR BIRTHDAY just because you did'nt like a movie. Or shame and send death threats to an actress who has no actual control over a story and can only do the job she was hired for. This comes back to this show too, when the Discord twist happened for the series finale there are fans who acted just as obnoxiously and treated the staff like devils simply because they did'nt like the twist. Your not toxic for disageering with someone, your toxic when you decide it's your right to tear down someone else's opinion because they liked it. Or think it's ok to harass the creators of a show or movie simply because your disappointed. I do not like Michael Bay or M Knight Shamylan as directors, however they are still people and I know better than to attack them over making movies I don't like. People don't like this episode because it's the cold hard truth of just how destructive some fans can get, and likely won't ever understand why their behavior is a problem because they just can't own up to it. Again I know it's not everyone but the people I'm talking about know exactly who they are but won't ever admit it. I know I'm talking to a void at this point, but I've decided to take one last good stab at saying why this episode was important anyway. I'm done losing my temper over people not getting it, it's a waste of energy and time that I can be spending on other important things. I loved all 9 seasons of this show, it helped me to break down those stupid stereotypes regarding girls cartoons once and for all and now I don't care what kind of story I get so long as it's good and I get invested in the charachters.
@TheRiddleMan-ci7hi4 жыл бұрын
I respect your opinion, but I found the F&M episode to be terrible for these reasons: I see that it was supposed to be A commentary-type of episode, but it failed terribly at it. First of all, I noticed the journal was written to show the events that occurred during Season 4 to Season 5 & Not before or after. Many of the arguments The Idiotic & Heartless Ponies made about the mane six during the episode don't really apply anymore despite the show's faults. I can see why some people didn't like Rarity, but I don't think she was very hated during that time. The guy talking about how Twilight would've been more interesting if she stayed in Canterlot makes no sense since the journal starts after Twilight became an Alicorn, which invalidates the "Twilight was better before she got wings" argument. Now of course, Some fans did complain that Fluttershy learned the same lesson over again, but before the episode was made, I'm pretty sure the writers fixed the problem. The facts I just stated makes how Ponyville treated the mane 6 in the episode not only immature, petty and cruel but mostly confusing now that I think about it. I do recall that The writers recognized the problem with Fluttershy so they made her more aggressive. That'd be like if season 4 had an episode calling out Twilight giving out every lesson and it would be an outdated type of episode, but it would become a serious problem that the writers themselves would start to recognize and get fixed. Second of all, there are times when the arguments are just plain cruel, wrong & downright stupid. This mostly just applies to Rarity's backlash. The only reason given is that Rarity apparently stated that she thinks she did all the work in Simple Ways when that's not true. She said she put in a lot of work and that it was the hardest thing she'd ever done, but she didn't say she did all the work. The only other argument is that they don't think Rarity has learned any of her lessons. First of all, How would they know? Second of all, They could say that for any of the mane six. It honestly makes me think the writers couldn't think of a good reason for things to go wrong for Rarity so they just made stuff up. Thirdly, the friendship journal has a different purpose than the TV show. I get that The journal was supposed to be a metaphor for the show itself, but it just doesn't work because the purpose of the journal is sole as an educational tool while the TV show is also to entertain. All of the talks about the mane six like characters don't work because the journal is not entertainment. Any criticisms against the mane six made from the book are automatically a cruel jerk because the journal only documents the lessons made at the end of each episode. The journal does not set out of making characters and tell stories. It's autobiographical and is made to share lessons. The TV show, on the other hand, is fiction. It does set out to tell stories and create characters. A fair comparison for the journal would be if the TV show was just the friendship lessons from seasons 4-5. Not the rest of the episodes. Just the lessons. If that was true, this episode shouldn't have been made because there'd be no fan criticism to base it on. You can't criticize something like that unless it gives a rancid moral. But that's not one of the criticisms that the episode goes for. Only the stuff that makes no sense in-universe. So to me As a commentary on the fanbase, it came across as insulting and just terrible. When Ponyville argued that the mane six aren't real characters, It doesn't work when complaining about the criticisms of this show. It brings up arguments that make no sense in the show's universe and expects the audience to take the episode seriously when it takes the arguments down. By the end, the episode gives such little of a shit about justifying these arguments in-universe that they are literally using words like "character". Honestly, if the writers had such a big problem with the fans about the criticisms of the show, they should've sent out a tweet talking about it or something like that and start to accept Some criticisms from the fanbase and write better episodes for MLP to educate Kids and adults about relationships, friendship and stuff like that. Another reason why I hated the episode One Bit because The way Ponyville acted was Just awful. Another reason why I found the Fame & Misfortune episode to be absolutely awful because Not only was it horribly written, it also made Ponyville, The LITERAL Hometown The Mane 6 protected since the beginning of the show, into complete Idiotic and heartless morons. The way Ponyville treated The Mane 6 after what they've done to protect Equestria it came across to me as petty and incredibly immature, which are the two traits that describe the writers for making this episode. I'm not saying the show's fandom was the sole reason for the episode being created but The writers were pretty stupid to go like "Yeah, let's dedicate an entire episode towards taking shit about the fandom that made your show go far beyond typical "Kid's Show" syndication" I mean come On! Twilight was the Damn Princess of Friendship Around that time for crying out loud, Her and her friends never deserved the cruel treatment they received in that episode, and it kind of made Twilight becoming a princess along with The Mane 5 protecting Equestria from evil feel like it was all for nothing if Ponyville just spits in their faces for it. There are a lot of Bad MLP Episodes, but the episode Fame & Misfortune took the title with ease. I know some fans can be a bit Toxic, but I hated how it Portrayed said fans as nitpicking, whiny assholes just because they don’t unswerving praise every single thing in the show to high heaven, and NOT All fans are like that. Refuting criticism by using meaningless thought-terminating clichés and having the Mane Six sing a patronising song that basically says “Well we’re not flawless so shut up and stop criticising us”. That was a bad move for Hasbro to be Bitter instead of accepting some of the fans criticisms. Twilight was the Princess of Friendship Around the time for crying out loud, Her & her friends never deserved the cruel treatment they received in that episode, & it kind of made Twilight becoming a princess along with The Mane 5 protecting Equestria from evil feel like it was all for nothing if Ponyville just spits in their faces for it...I mean, Jesus. If I was Twilight, I wouldn't tolerate the toxic environment and would've fought back against the cruel environment for going too far and constantly harassing me. Do you agree or disagree with me on that? I still hate the F&M episode to this day because The Mane 6 never deserved the terrible treatment from Ponyville. I also found the episode to be a staple of the pride & hubris of the later show-runners.

@@TheRiddleMan-ci7hi Way to miss the point entirely of what I said, no this episode should not exist. People should be smart enough to understand boundries and yet here we are in 2020 and remind me, what's happing right now exactly excluding the virus? You CANNOT use your opinion as a shield when someone calls you out for being an asshole, you are allowed to speak your mind whether you liked it or did'nt, But people act EXACTLY like the ponies did in this episode to the show's staff themselves and hell your even doing it right now yourself. You can disagree but respect damn boundries and understand these are simply human beings who have different views on storytelling than you do. As I said this episode is the mirror for you, if you look into it and still don't see a problem well then that makes you part of it. Staying stubborn and refusing to admit blame is what leads to the rioting currently going on right now. I don't need to proove anything, I've said this for so long and now it's actually happening. But go on, sit there and try to keep saying this episode is innacurate or that it's bad. Seems to me it hit the nail on the head, and your just denying the truth.
@TheRiddleMan-ci7hi4 жыл бұрын
RedfurredPikachu I’m NOT Apart of the toxic side of the MLP Fandom, but that doesn’t mean we needed this episode to exist. I thought that the show wasn't going to take valid criticisms from the fandom anymore. They could have purely celebrated the show again like episode 100. But instead, they decided to focus on the negative side of the fandom. The references to criticisms from the fans to me were too old/not really relevant, almost 3 to 4 years old and The jokes could have been more sophisticated. What Hasbo is aiming for is the audience’s cheap reaction. The fandom is so hungry for official fandom recognitions or fan services, whenever somepony says “Twilight was better before she got wings”, or derpy shows up in the screen, they flip. It was too easy to impress some audiences. Everything might have worked if the episode was well made and fun. I think it wasn't. And the ending was nad whatever perspective you want to take it. So the writers want us to accept that they’re not Flawless? I’m not saying that’s A bad lesson, but the way it was executed in the F&M episode made it look like A bad lesson. Being yourself and making excuses that nobody is perfect are two different things. Characters having flaws were never part of the criticism. That's what the writers thought the criticism was. I also hate that they called M.A. Larson just to put his name on the credits for the name value and he didn't actually came up with those ideas. Besides, did you not read my reasoning of why the episode was bad? I’m not trying to force you to agree, but I think you should reread it.
@RedfurredPikachu4 жыл бұрын
@@TheRiddleMan-ci7hi Again it's like yelling into a void with you people, and you clearly still refuse to get what the point is. It's not about them taking criticism, it's about the lines fans cross in order to voice said criticism and that's perfectly demonstrated in this episode. How the ponies act in the episode is EXACTLY how the most toxic fans can get, until you understand that point I have no reason to take you seriously because your just in denial. You can't tell me this crap does'nt happen or that hasbro's overblowing it cause I've seen it time and time again with Star Wars and Sonic's fandom's being the biggest offenders right now. This episode pointed out a harsh truth to you and you and the other people who act exactly like that simply don't like you were called out. It is incredibly sad that the writers felt they needed an episode like this and people STILL think their doing nothing wrong. It's ironic though M.A Larson was one of the people were incredibly toxic too, now all of a sudden you people are defending him. It feels just like with the star wars fans only NOW holding George Lucas on some kind of pedestal despite the despicable things they did just cause they did'nt like the prequels. Their the reason he even sold Star wars to Disney in the first place, and while the toxicness has'nt gotten as bad as that for this show. It certainly isn't light either the stupid things like the whole Derpy incident, Twilight getting her wings, or the most recent example of Discord turning out to be Grogar. Your free to dislike these things, but again the lines people crossed just because they did'nt like these things is disgusting and ABSOLUTELY needed to be called out.

Honestly...I don't see why the whole fandom freaks out over the smallest things. This is a show meant for entertainment and to teach morals. Nobody is perfect, not the characters or writers. Now, I'm not saying people aren't allowed to be upset about some things. I don't even agree with the whole premise of the last season. I personally feel that Twilight becoming the ruler of Equestria isn't the right direction for the show and the OC I made even lives in an alternate universe where the events of her story happen instead of season 9. What I'm saying is, don't start riots because you don't like where the show is going or what was done in an episode. Be calm and rational about it. If you have to, scream into a pillow. The writers have their own reasoning behind it. They probably felt it was Celestia's plan all along to have Twilight be the replacement when she and Luna retired. I feel like it's best in season 8, with Twilight spreading the knowledge of friendship with the map and being headmistress of the school of friendship. I don't agree with all of season 9, but I'm not arguing with it and still enjoy a lot of the season 9 episodes. The writers aren't flawless. They're works in progress. They have dents and they have quirks, but its their flaws that make them work. I appreciate everything they've done for this show and hope that everyone will eventually learn the lesson they're trying to teach here.

You do a great job not only reacting to the episodes, but sharing several great points in the breakdown afterward. It definitely helps me to take a second look at my thoughts after I watch an episode and maybe take a different look at things I may have missed, and this episode was no exception. I thought the staff was maybe taking a shot at the part of the fandom that is overtly critical (and maybe they were), but like many have said, it needed to be done. The positives do need to be emphasized, not only in the pony world, but in our real world as well. I know that you, along with Blank Slate and RarityDash, have tons of subscribers already, but you three are my favorite MLP:FIM commentators and I referenced you and linked to your channel in my last video. I hope you don't mind the extra publicity. Keep up the AWESOME work!

Looking at who was already listed in the credits and hence didn't need to be credited as the writer, and how adorable Twilight was and how awesome Starlight and Rarity were without delving into Fox brothers level of out of character, it was clear to me that Lewis and Songco probably wrote this.

Starlight is SUCH a good friend in this episode and this was when I REALLY started liking her character even tho she didn't have a huge role in this episode she did ultimately give the solution and she was protective and caring and over all, even tho she herself wasn't effected by the situation, she was there for her friends as soon as she noticed that they were upset and started working on making sure that twilight knew it wasn't her fault and making sure that no one hurt her friends, putting herself between them and the verbal attacks and potential threats. Her assertive and intimidating nature was still there too, and it worked well!

2:47 it was in Golden Oaks when Tirek blew it up, followed by when Starlight's screw up with that spell on the rest of the Mane 6 flooded the castle, including the castle library.

I think Pinkie Pie's entrance to when she pounces on Twilight is a reference to how Tigger bounces his friends. "Hello. I'm Tigger. T-I-double guh er. That spells Tigger."

I have to admit that I myself have been in these shoes from time to time, so I understand that this message needed to be aired. In regards to comments and arguments over the characters, I was never necessarily in THAT dark part of the fandom, but.....being a furry, I was in another. But, that is one part they aren't likely to reference in any way. My favorite characters are Fluttershy (obviously) and Rarity. I like the others just fine, though Rainbow and Pinkie sometimes get under my skin with their antics, but you'll have that. A few episodes ago, I found a way to REALLY relate with Applejack. I'd already had the death of a parent as a tie in, but to see them discuss it in an episode really made me relate to her. The other characters have all experienced things I can relate to, and it helps me relate to them. The only time I was nervous was when Twilight was going to become an alicorn, but I remained neutral and simply assumed it would only be a physical change.....and I was right. The song itself was catchy, fun, and wonderful. It certainly got a message across that I think people need to hear more often. As you yourself have said, no single person or character is perfect. Sure, there will be disagreements and problems from time to time, but that's what you have when you are different. Those differences make life interesting and fun. Seeing how much Fluttershy and Rarity have dealt with this thanks to your commentary, I realized I had to say something in their defense. Not so much that you made nasty comments about them, on the contrary. But, others clearly have, and I know folks that do not like Rarity. Overcoming shyness is not easy and is much harder than most folks think. Over the course of the series, she has made great strides in overcoming that. The mere fact she tore into the ponies and got downright pissed by the end of it is a testament to that. Also, some folks may find things might be......a bit chaotic for a time due to her friendship with Discord, who I might add has also helped her overcome her shyness bit by bit......as demonstrated in a recent episode. Rarity has proven that she may have issues, but she does try her best to help others whenever she can (even though it backfires on occasion). Others seem to focus on the fact she is maybe a bit stuck up and not on how she goes out of her way to cater to all the others with her fashion line. Sure, she does want the outfits to look good and she does enjoy catering to the elite, but she'll do stuff for free for others at times at great expense to herself. And, given how she meticulously makes each dress and piece of clothing, she COULD charge more, but doesn't. She has also helped a number of locals with things, using her eye for fashion as an eye for detail and noting things they might have missed. Because, like Twilight, she tends to notice things. So, have the locals immediately turn on her after all she has done does not seem to speak well. But, I think it will resolve itself soon enough.....I hope. I could go on for longer, but then I'll just be rambling. Also, in regards to Spike's absence (which I just now noticed), that might be explained in the episode I am about to watch in a few moments. But, the key thing, is I never completely disliked ANY character in the show.....except for some of the villains, but all the regular characters and the Mane 6/Starlight I enjoy to some degree. Also, that ending is still funny. Anyways, enjoy the next episode and keep on reacting. I love your reactions and look forward to your reaction of the next episode.

That was a well-thought out analysis of this episode, Applegeek! I'd been immersed in MLP: Friendship is Magic since mid-2015, and I love to see your videos! I wish to go to a Brony con someday, and its thanks to people like you that I have had spritual growth!

Honestly...I don't know what to make of this episode. But, I will say that the moral has made a big impact and the song was a great way to portray the message. I also like how supportive Starlight was to her friends in this episode, she's a true friend.🙂

I'd just like to say, very well said Applegeek. You made some really great points, and have opened my eyes to some subtle lessons within the episode which I admit I need to take away myself. It was also really cool getting to say hi to you at Bronycon.
