She has really matured as a character, but sadly some people refuse to see this. I really want to see a backstory episode for her. I still get this feeling we only really saw the tip of what sent her down her dark path. That more happened then we know.

To be honest I never hated her but at the same time I also didn't really care for her......until the Season 6 finale. To me S7 was the season she truly shined in to the point where I can say that I'm looking forward to more Starlight episodes. To quote Starlight in this episode "I like her".

Ember and Thorax, two of my favorite characters from S6 meeting together in this one episode of S7. Come to think of it, this was a great way for these two to bond and be reliable allies. Speaking of allied forces, it would be cool if we can have our griffon friends visit the ponies sometime. And yes, a CMC map adventure is still a thing I want to see at some point. Overall, "Triple Threat" has made my day and is another fun Spike episode to boot!

Just imagine, Discord would be having his weekly tea party with Fluttershy and all of a sudden, his blue antler starts glowing. Then he went on a mission to solve a friendship problem in his own chaotic way.

This was for sure a good Spike episode, unlike most of his episodes >_>, but the fact the map called him shocked me XD so basically the friendship map can call anyone it wants that it sees fit to solve a certain friendship problem, like with Starlight being bold enough to actually fix Celestia and Luna's problem, because you know for a fact none of the main six would be that bold, so the map is calling anyone that it sees the best to solve that problem, regardless of their species or connection to the main 6, so I could for sure see a cutie mark crusader episode where the map calls them for a problem :)

Except Starlight also helped Spike with the deceptions and offered no real resistance. It was more like the "common sense" switch was on no one until the end (unless Starlight and Twilight knew all along what was best to do but for some reason just let Spike do what he thought best, which is good for learning a lesson but not when it involves heads of nations/species).

I have to admit this was something I never expected from Spike. He's been living with Twilight for so long, how did he mess this up? Double scheduling? That's what check lists are for! Seriously what's with the super hero landings? DWK s gonna love this episode. The smart switch wasn't in either Twilight or Spike positions today. It was nice for Spike to have an essential role once more, even if it was a bit odd. Now, Thorax X Ember shipping!!!

Something I just noticed. At the end of the episode, Spike says "may the flame of friendship burn for eternity". Sounds a lot like the "fire of friendship" in Heartswarming Eve. Even more so, the fire that Ember breaths looks a lot like the fire that comes out of clover the clever's horn in the Heartswarming episode. It could just be coincidence but I'm intrigued.

I don't see the CMC being called unless the problem is in Ponyville. Remember, Twilight has that thing about only sending the ponies that were called and no pony else. (Reason she didn't go with Starlight or go to see the Griffins.) And I don't see Sweetie Belle's parents allowing her to travel somewhere far away alone and miss school. That would just make them BAD parents. Plus the problem with calling anyone else (Big Mac, Discord, Derpy, Lyra and Bon Bon, etc) is that unlike the Mane 6, Spike, or Starlight, no one else is obligated to do these quests. They are not going to put there lives on hold because some map says they should go help some random stranger in another city. It's not there responsibly. And you can't exactly force them because that would make Twilight a tyrant. and about Spike, it wasn't exactly out of the question because the castle did supply him with a throne, so it was aware of him. So there is no cofirmation that it can call anyone.

Spike was more confident? He himself stated he ONLY looked at the bad that could happen and not the good that could happen with those two meeting. Twilight reinforced that feeling in the very beginning and then went to the opposite at the end? Spike 'forgets' in a way that they just happen to be in the same place. Oh and the map felt really forced. He could've trusted in his own best friends and it would be still uncertain but worked through it and if things really did go bad it at most they would avoid each other. There is no reason why they would go to war. Not for power or resources or fame or whatever. Basically everything except for spike in this episode was good. There was funny humor, character development of two side characters, great animation, interesting idea but not really that good of a execution.

About Ember destroying the rock, the important point there is that she had to actively try to do it, put a lot of effort into her flame, etc. Presumably dragon flames from accidental things or sneezes aren't so destructive on rocks.

True about world building. I have to wonder about whether these nations we know about will also be represented in the movie. I know the idea is to show a lot of new things. But they would take a risk by not showing the current list of allies. Maybe Discord, because they're not always in contact with him and it would be hard to make a threat that he'd have trouble with. I don't know if their current list of allies could stand against the Storm King. But I think it could be made better by showing them, or at least taking a couple of lines to explain why they can't call on them. You'd think dragons would trounce the Storm King, but maybe only Ember would be interested. And seeing the Yacks and Griffins hulking out on SK's minions would be pretty cool. (sigh) Maybe it's all to do with circumstance presented in the story and nothing more.

I have a funny theory about the finale of this season, based on a spoiler about the finale I read few weeks ago... If I'm right, the finale will be the episode(s) that finally takes the place of best episode ever from the Crusaders. Also, comparing this seventh season to another seventh season that is currently airing, I do think this is the better one by far.

the fact that Spike a non-pony was summoned by map,it makes possible for Discord have a map episode in future. i can even see a how play out: too proper, rule following group of ponies (or other creatures) think they dont need friendship because they have order and than comes Spirite of Chaos to liven things up.

Hmm, well, every friendship problem requires a different solution. Apparently the map knew that both Thorax and Ember needed to learn something from each other, and that it required Spike, who was already a friend with each one, to help bring them together and give them the opportunity to learn from each other. This actually could have happened much more easily if Spike didn't try to keep them separated from each other, so basically Spike created the problem in the first place, but if not for him owning up to his mistake, they would have left and not become friends. Granted, this was arguably one of the more confusing friendship problems the map has dealt with, but hey, it made for an interesting story.

You know, at this point in the series, it would make sense to have more meta humor considering the show's been going on for seven seasons (with an eight season confirmed) and the movie coming out in a few months. They could cover a lot of things like the hate for Flash Sentry, the controversy of the EG franchise, Celestia's role as princess, yadda yadda, etc etc, peas and carrots and all that.

Yup this was an amazingly fun ep. The story could have been tighter, and the conflict was a result of Spike being Spike, but it made sense, and he got called out on it. But really, eh whatever, so the conflict was cliched.. Thorax and Ember were too awesome not to love this ep for! Just, loved it all and hope we get more of both of them. Though, Twilight just, letting it happen... it makes sense, she's trying to emulate Celestia, and Celestia, very much is the 'let them make their mistakes' type, she just went with Spike's plan, and trusted him to work things out himself.

I'd say it's THE MAP OF HARMONY, considering the elements of harmony helped make the chest that helped make the castle, and so forth. Besides, Hasbro came out with the "GUARDIANS OF HARMONY" toy line, so I'd consider any pony who's in that to also being able to be called by the map, if not every pony, given the circumstances that they'd eventually learn how to solve said problem. So yeah, WORLD BUILDING.....GO!!!

This was a weird episode just because I didn't know how to feel about it. I did enjoy it, but I just felt kind of weird about it. However the ending made up for it big time, it was a great ending. And I do like that Spike is becoming more and more mature, although I'm still surprised that Spike was called by the map; that really surprised me. (Still hoping for the CMC's to get called). Also I loved that Ember made the joke about Starlight and Twilight seeming similiar, I thought it was hilarious. And Starlight was great in this episode, I loved her little comments that she did; so funny. Spike gets better and better with each episode/lesson he learns. Great reaction and can't wait for more! XD.
