There are actually a few hints that MachineHead is Sonoshee's father, though it's incredibly subtle. He was the one she was waiting for at Oasis, they showed his reaction when her car was destroyed, and he was the one who told her to use the Steamlight. Assuming she's in her mid-twenties, her father likely would've given it to her about 20 years ago, the same time MachineHead would've won his first Redline. I actually didn't pick up on it myself until reading a comment on Blind Wave's reaction video.
@earth9564 Жыл бұрын
There are also hints that Secretary Titan is a spy. He seems glad that the cameras are on roboworld, isn't supirsed that the cannon was sabatoged, and only commented that it was up and running again when it would fire on funky boy.

@@clxwncrxwn Machinehead Tetsujin modified his body to race, the whole deal with him being the machine, I guess you could think of him like a technological version of Sasori and his puppet body from Naruto, so Tetsujin would've likely gotten together with a lady bearing the surname McLaren and took her name, so his name would be Tetsujin McLaren then, and had Sonoshee around that time, and his goal was to win Redline, and perhaps to make his daughter proud of him too, and perhaps inspire her to race as well, so he did, gave Sonoshee a Steamlight necklace and further encouraged her to race, which she obviously greatly enjoys, and he went on to win three more Redline races until his daughter began gunning for the next Redline race 20 years after he won his first. He's also obviously immensely proud of her at the end, and I think he was scoping out JP as not just a racer, but as a possible son-in-law eventually and wanted to get a measure of his character. There's so many stories going on around the Redline race itself and even the Yellowline before it, everyone has a story in this movie masterpiece, Lynchman is a bounty hunter, Tetsujin is a cybernetic racing champion, Roboworld is a dictatorship cyber world building up their forces for a possible interstellar war, Supergrass is a magical world utilizing natural affinity with what seems to be another fundamental component of reality and they don't like what Roboworld is planning, Miki and Todoroki are the pair of quirky normals trying their hardest and managing to keep up with the other crazies around them, JP is a true racer at heart and so it Sonoshee and they are likely childhood friends, at least after that first meeting that JP was remembering just after taking her back to her hotel on Europass, and Trava, Shinkai and Little Deyzuna have a rich history with each other and Roboworld, what with their meetings always having so much intensity and emotion going on, as can be seen in Trava: Fist Planet, the 2003 OVA prelude to Redline, both Trava and Shinkai are deserters of the Roboworld army. Also, Shoto o Jin is a war veteran turned peace activist and now king, but also a racer, which is cool, and Kurukuru Daza is also a war vet but more interested in the business surrounding Redline and its prelude Yellowline and Blueline races. Its a very rich universe.

It's a redline daaaaaaaaaaaaay!!! One of the things this film is most famous for is being hand drawn, one of the last anime features to be in an era where digital has become the standard. It also took 7 years and contributed to Madhouse's financial problems, so in the end maaaaaybe not really worth it, but at least it gave us a spectacle in every sense of the word. Also, never play the yellow line song while driving. Just don't. It's almost as dangerous as eurobeat.

Didn't watch it but heard some people point out that Redline was one of the reasons why Madhouse went to shit in the 2010s, it flopped in the Box Office despite it is high budget and years of production. It is kinda sad.
@jjpark983 жыл бұрын
It was a passion project that unfortunately did not do as well as they wanted it to. Though most of us anime fans actually consider it a very good animated film. Whether for the story, dialogue, dub, style, or the animation itself. The craziest part of the whole production (for me) is that they were like half way or mostly done, then the director decided to just scrap EVERYTHING they animated and start again from the beginning. That was the reason why it took like 7 years to make. If it wasn't for that, the film would've been done a lot sooner (within 2-3 years), Madhouse wouldn't have lost as much money if at all, and depending on the reception of the first version over the version we all know and love, it might've performed better or it might've been even worse.

Its important to note that Anime didn't transaction into mainstream until 2010's. Anime started going world wide with Akira 89. Got more famous with Dragon Ball, Saint Seiya, Sakura Card Captor and other old Shounen animes in the 90's. 2000's was the Naruto era which was where people already knew about anime but still were into the more mainstream ones. And 2010~12 where it really blew off, when non main stream animes started to get famous, with animes like Madoka(which is a magic girl show, they usually are not popular), Fate(which is a eroge game), Sao(which is an isekai, which at this time were not really popular) and some other shit. So Redline had not only a lot of problems with their production, but marketing was not good, and world wide release was akin to none. Now a days, this is indeed considered one of , if not the best animation ever made, because well people don't do this shit anymore it's too risky.

@benh35182 жыл бұрын
Not a prequel, just the director's first project and that's why they're in the film - note that they're the only two who DON'T get a flashy TV feature like the other six Redline drivers/teams and what little background they do get is limited to them having been once part of the Roboworld military (which is why Little Dezuna acts like they betrayed him for leaving the service). Their car is also a reference, being called the 'Speedmaster' because IIRC the pod the pair salvages in 'Fist Planet' is also called a 'Speedmaster'.

The movie took 7 years to make and it has more than 100,000 hand drawn frames and they spent around 30 million dollars on it but the box office was around 7 million. After the flop they fired the director witch is sad cause the movie is one of the best one off anime movies ever 12 years later.
