Quoting Peter Capaldi's answer to a question about how his Doctor feels towards Clara 'Well, I think the Doctor is very possessive about Clara. I mean he has a very very deep bond with Clara because essentially Clara saved him, saved the being that the Doctor is and that is something that he feels very grateful to her about and you know you always got to remember that the Doctor is not a human being, so his emotional responses to things are expressions of a far deeper and more complex, sort of relationship with the universe, but he suddenly has a human body and he suddenly has human components and suddenly there are emotions flying around in it so he has to use it as a conduit.... this is a very long protracted answer simply to say yes he was slightly jealous' God, this man is just sublime.

Series 8. I'm so mixed with it because there are a lot of great episodes but there are some that are so unwatchable. My top 4 worst Doctor Who episodes all come from this season. Listen, Caretaker, ITFOTN and Kill the Moon are all absolute shit fests with Capaldi being the only redeeming factors. Although I loved the concept of Listen but the concept was shoved to the back to focus on Danny and Clara's love life the least interesting plot line in Doctor Who history. But then there's Mummy on the Orient Express, Flatline. Time Heist and the finale and they are all so good.

The bit where the Doctor says, "Shuttitty-up-up-up!" was an homage to Peter Capaldi's other well-known (and very foul-mouthed!) role as Malcolm Tucker in "The Thick of It". One of the things he used to say was "Fuckitty-bye!" Also, as others have said, the scene where Psi uploads all those known criminal images, includes a whole load of characters and aliens from the whole Who universe. One of them is even a comic-strip character called "Abslom Daak: Dalek Killer".
Amazing pitch: an escape room where the hints and clues are flashdrives containing memories of you doing the escape room.

You touched on this a little bit and I agree that the Doctor purposely keeps Clara at arms length this season. I think I even remember Steven Moffat mentioning in an interview at the time that all of the Doctor's "do you need to reach a high shelf?" stuff is really him pretending that he's not attracted to her anymore, when in fact he still is. And it sounds like you guys were kinda starting to get the impression that it's a bit of an act, as well. I think it all goes back to the Doctor's comment in the first episode of the season when he said (paraphrasing here) that he made a mistake by thinking he was Clara's boyfriend "and it's about time that [he] did something about that." I think the 1000 years he spent on Trenzalore have made him more guarded and he's trying to protect her (and himself) by keeping her at a distance. Deep down, he'd like to be closer to her but, he knows he shouldn't feel that way. Hence, the competitiveness with Danny. In theory, Clara having her own life is good, but, at the same time, "don't leave me!!" Hahaha!!!

Abslom Daak Dalek Killer isn't just a comic character (from the Marvel comics btw so Time Heist is technically linked to the Marvel Multiverse). He also has a series of Audio adventures. Along with Night of the Doctor and The Pandorica Opens (which mentions aliens from the novel range) it confirms that every tier of Doctor Who from the Comics, audios and the novels are all canonical (even the contradictory ones).

@@CaptainScarLeg Exactly, we think, that it should exist, yet we can not detect it. Avoiding detection = perfect hiding.
@CaptainScarLeg5 жыл бұрын
@@c4oufi Right, except we have reason to believe Dark Matter exists because of the effects it appears to have on things around it. Detecting something via something else is still a form of detection, assuming that Dark Matter is, in fact, real. So if it is real, it's had an effect that's lead to its discovery; meaning it's not perfectly hidden. If it's not real, it doesn't have perfect hiding because there's nothing to hide. Again, "perfect" hiding would be so perfect we couldn't possibly know about it. It would have no detectable effect on anything around it so we would have no reason to even theorise it exists. That was the point The Doctor was making in the episode; if something has literal perfect hiding, we wouldn't know. We couldn't know. UNLESS (in the context of the episode) it chooses to reveal itself. It's not unreasonable to believe that given our limited understanding of the universe there could be countless things out there with perfect hiding.

@@DasKame It's my personal opinion that if someone goes into Doctor Who basically "blind", with no pressure to feel a certain way about episodes from people who are already fans, the new watcher will be very likely to enjoy almost every episode (and the ones they don't like as much will be pretty hard to predict). It's that good of a show. Public fan opinion has crystallized around so many episodes that it can be hard for someone in touch with other fans to form their own opinions. That's why I love watching these guys react, because through their honest, first-time, non-influenced opinions, I see through their eyes as the Doctor sees through his companions' eyes, and I can look at my own thoughts and impressions and evaluate them much more honestly than I can in a group of fans who are loudly praising and hating episodes in terms that leave no room for other opinions, which is a place I have been in the past. These guys aren't pretending. They're enjoying themselves because they have no stake in their opinions - they don't have anyone telling them what the "correct" opinion is! I love that kind of reacting! And I'm not attacking you personally or saying there is a "correct" opinion either. I'm not saying that you must always be positive "or else". (That would be at the level of The Happiness Patrol dictatorship!) I think it's absolutely okay that you don't like this season! I'm not saying your reactions are necessarily "bad" or "tainted by fan opinion". I definitely agree that not every episode is great. (I'm not a fan of Kill the Moon either.) I don't think the quality of the show is usually objective. People come to Doctor Who for different things, and when they find the things they're looking for, they're happy. And I'm also happy when they find the things they're looking for, because I've found things to love in every era and episode of the show myself.
