Also it should be mentioned, Alucard wants a human to kill him. He's not looking to die per say but if he was to be killed it wants it to be at the hands of a human and not a monster. Anderson was a perfect candidate but after piercing himself with the nail of Christ, he became a monster too.

Well the whole God "forgiving" the souls was a joke, though Alucard's undead army did get burned or what-have you in the OVA. There is a certain character towards the series end that kind of flips Alucard's own soul consuming power against him, which I believe was The Major's trump card against Alucard should shit hit the fan like it has so far.

They did watch the first six on Halloween 2016 and then the next two after Halloween 2017, so they had gone more than a year without the butler making an appearance. It was also believed that Walter may have died in the episode where Integra Hellsing is forced to drive. They had been surrounded by endless hoards of Nazi Vampires and their Ghouls, so it was unknown what his fate was, until this moment when he returned and killed Anderson.

LoonaticX Actually, not really. It's a very short fight which is cut in half by Alucard's flashback sequence. The reason the fight itself is so short is to put us in Alucard's shoes. Alucard has been waiting for this moment for over a century. A human who can finally defeat him and put him at rest... And then that human throws away his humanity, becoming just another monster that he has to destroy. The fight from that moment on is meant to give off a feeling of disappointment and sadness. If Anderson had stayed human, he would have gladly let him pierce his heart... But now Anderson is a monster, and per his vow, he has to exterminate every last one. "Only a human can kill a monster... Only a human... Could dare hope to."

LoonaticX Nah, it's all good. The fight is supposed to feel anti-climatic. Notice how every opponent Alucard fights gets a few shots in, and then Alucard dispatches them, usually because Alucard is just bored and is trying to drag the fight out for as long as possible. By the time we see Alucard fight Van Winkle, there is a formula to his fight scenes. He takes a few hits, acts like he's being pushed back, and then squashes his opponents. They're really just there to show how badass and powerful Alucard is. Alucard destroys every monster who faces him, without exception. The problem is with Anderson it was supposed to be different. It felt like, to us and Alucard, that it was going to be the fight of the century, and seeing Alucard squash fodder was just the filler to the main course... And then we get there. The hype is high, everyone is fucking stoked... Then Anderson decides to throw away his humanity, and becomes fodder like every other minor villain in the show. Through the entire fight we're supposed to feel disappointed, because as soon as the Nail pierced Anderson's heart, the outcome was set in stone. Alucard feels robbed, and so do we.

Answers to questions you had: Why did Anderson stab himself with Christ's nail? The nail essentially turned Anderson into a loyal subject/monster of God which gave him more power. Alucard got pissed because the only way to truly kill him is through human hands, rather than a monster who has forsaken his humanity like himself(hence his "I would not allow another monster such as myself to exist in this world"). Who was that at the end? Walter, the old butler. All I can say. Is Dracula a seperate personality? No. That's an abridged thing. Alucard is a being who's lived MANY lifetimes, so human form doesn't really apply to him to in a convential sense. How much is left of the abridged? Probably 2 more episodes to cover the remainder of the story, so episode 10 should be the last.

He's mostly there, but years of living, the two billion souls writhing around inside him at once, combined with his torture and enslavement by Van Helsing, Alucard is a wee-bit Broken. Best example of this is in episode 5 of the actual series. Starts with Alucard having a conversation with one of his familiars who claim to be the spirit of his Jackal. As the scene continues, more of these familiars appear before Alucard, taking on the form of famous action movie stars, and again claiming to be the Jackal. It gets so bad Alucard has to yell at them to be quiet, so yeah. He's kind of... Unhinged. If we can use Seras as a comparison (SPOILERS) Pip is fully sentient and capable of intelligent thought. Even capable of manifesting cigarettes inside of Seras' consciousness, prompting her to say, "I would prefer if you didn't smoke inside me." Now, because Pip is Seras' only familiar, this isn't so bad, but Pip consented to letting Seras drink his blood. Think of how Alucard must feel, having millions of his enemies writhing around inside him at all times....

seigeengine He's unhinged, insane. Also the Alucard in the show isn't necessarily angry like the one here, more resentful. In fact, Alucard for most of the actual show is pretty complacent and calm, only ever getting angry when people violate his own sort of moral code (In the actual anime, after the soldier shoots himself in the hotel, Alucard gets VERY pissed off, as he views suicide as giving up, just like he views vampires and himself as people who were too weak to be human, so they gave up). Alucard in the show and the abridged Alucard might as well be night and day. For example, when Alucard transforms into his Dracula/Vlad form, though his personality and voice changes, it still FEELS like it's Alucard talking. Alucard throughout the actual series is basically the Dracula form but calmer, more relaxed, and with an American accent. Also, I'd be pretty pissed if I had to put up with millions of people talking inside me at every moment of the day, twenty-four seven.

The nail turned Anderson from a monster-fighting human, into a monster like alucard (just on a different side). In the original Alucard’s reaction to this prospect is one of the most surprising and fascinating character moments in the whole series, not gonna spoil. Anyway monster!Anderson has Alucard-tier crazy regeneration but instead of amorphous blood/darkness/eyes he reforms as *thorns*- you know, like a crown of thorns. In the original Iscariot agents use their suicide bombs once they’re mortally wounded, but it’s still very much meant to hammer home how they’re a bunch of religious fanatics- the whole concept’s so goddamn well done, even just their name. They’re a *secret vatican wetwork agency* named after *Judas Iscariot*. What better name for a bunch of killers who believe their actions serve a greater divine plan?

NGL, I'm a little disappointed that you guys haven't actually watched/supported the official release. At least at the time of this reaction video. Flawed though it may be, so is every original production. I enjoy the Abridged version, and people will always praise Abridged series for "doing it better," but without the arduous work and outstanding animation from the original (especially the original manga), there would not have been anything for TeamFourStar to work with. If you haven't seen Hellsing Ultimate you should really react to it. It's only 10 episodes and it is great. Hellsing Abridged strays a bit more from the source material compared to DBA so it is very worth watching the main series to get the story.

The whole Dracula/Alucard thing being split personas are a TFS thing as well as God/Satan who never appeared in the original. The nail allowed Anderson to have a direct connection to the divine rather than just a holy arsenal.

So from what I can figure, Dracula is pretty much Alucard's true self, sealed away by a Hellsing a long time before the current events. Alucard's nightmare in Episode 3 may have been a flashback to when he was originally sealed into service to the Hellsings. Upon hitting Restraint Level 0, all of the souls Alucard absorbed are released as a massive army and his true self, Dracula, normally buried beneath tons of insanity and adaptation to more modern culture, emerges to take control. This is all speculation by me though since I haven't watched the original series.

That aspect of the release is abridged series only. Alucard is basically the same as he always is when in that form in the actual story, but his original accent does return. I actually think the thing here is supposed to represent that Alucard/Dracula lost himself among all the souls inside him, no longer able to decipher himself from his thralls, and thus has that amalgam 'internet' personality, but since level 0 splits him from those other selves his true self was there for a second. In the actual story there is a bit on how he's lost a bit of his self/memory/humanity over the centuries due to the souls, as well as being unable to fully comprehend himself, but it didnt so much manifest in a loss of personality more than he lost a lot of sympathy/humanity, but couldnt lose it all. The losing touch with his own soul came into play when he was forced to drink the blood of Schrodinger's Cat in the story, in which he became an imaginary number scattered about the wind unable to manifest, until he destroyed every soul in him but his own and Schrodinger, effectively being able to tell himself apart as well as push Schrodinger to the side to stabilize himself from then on.

Takahata101 had stated that when starting to write the show they had figured that if you hungabout the world for 500 years just killing youd develope a wicked sense of humour and become the biggest dick to that extent that it became a whole separate entity in his mind ergo alucard and dracula just inhabit the same body and share memories but dracula is supressed under the millions of souls and only comes out when release level zero activates and the souls are set free

yeah team4star added it in,if you haven't seen the show yet i HIGHLY reccomend you to watch the original version it has actually one of the best dubs in the industry i prefer it over the sub even though i'm usually an anti dub person
