Funny. Eric claims to be a huge ‘Smallville’ fan but apparently doesn’t remember the episode where Martha reveals Clark for the first time to the sheriff. It’s an unexpected occurrence and the first name she lands on is “Clark”. The sheriff looks bemused as he asks, “your maiden name”. Now ‘Smallville’ came after ‘Superman: The Animated Series’ and adopted at least a couple things from the other. First, the whole “Clark” was Martha’s maiden name and second, Lois’ affinity for calling Clark, “Smallville” which originated in ‘Superman: The Animated Series’.

That Martha Kent's maiden name was Clark was long established in the comics. Movies and TV shows may have glossed over it but it was around before this show. The biggest change from the comics so far is Brainiac being a Kryptonian AI Most of the lore it is drawing from is the 1986 reboot of the character.

I do enjoy how open Clark is with Ma and Pa, as well as Lana, about his powers This may be my favourite version of Lois, and one of the best versions of her and Clark’s relationship. They have great chemistry and a fun bit of playful rivalry which is always great Finally, Clancy Brown as Lex Luthor is excellent, possibly the best Lex we’ve had. @@KhalilC17 _"ok for one, if they wanted to impress on the viewer that clark was a different age then they shouldn't have had henry cavill playing anything under like early to mid thirties."_ Well, I think they mentioned him going to college. _"second, I still think that's a fucked up stupid dynamic to pick for jonathan kent, especially when jonathan couldve been the one to get all the people to the overpass and clark coulda gotten the dog, since he wouldn't have been in any danger regardless."_ But that would put Martha and Jonathan and all the people at more risk since the overpass is not some foolproof safepoint unless Clark is there to be the "anchor". And if the tornado gets to Clark that is also risking exposure of his secret. That's part of the point; Jonathan prioritizes based on the big picture from the beginning. _"felt really forced and just reeks of snyder trying to display his cynical views of what superman should be."_ I think you're confusing cynical with realistic. Man Of Steel was a realistic take on what it would be like to be a Kryptonian with good morals on Earth rather than the Mighty Mouse-ish juvenile power fantasy where the universe will always have your back so your powers will always provide a nice third option out of any dilemma (i.e. a Saturday morning cartoon).

Both of their voices are so alike in tone and cadence, its almost impossible to tell them apart unless you see the credits.
