Yes, Martha Kent's maiden name was always Clark and that IS where Clark Kent's name came from (It was his dad's idea). And Superman's outfit is made from his baby blankets.

It's so nice to watch a "Standard" Superman story, after so much time most of the modern versions are usually twists on the concept, reinterpretations and such. This is so pure in comparison and makes it just so cozy to watch.

Funny. Eric claims to be a huge ‘Smallville’ fan but apparently doesn’t remember the episode where Martha reveals Clark for the first time to the sheriff. It’s an unexpected occurrence and the first name she lands on is “Clark”. The sheriff looks bemused as he asks, “your maiden name”. Now ‘Smallville’ came after ‘Superman: The Animated Series’ and adopted at least a couple things from the other. First, the whole “Clark” was Martha’s maiden name and second, Lois’ affinity for calling Clark, “Smallville” which originated in ‘Superman: The Animated Series’.

Martha Kent's maiden name being "Clark" has been established Superman lore for decades. In Superman The Movie when Johnathan and Martha find baby Kal-El, and Johnathan starts to worry about Martha getting ideas about what to do with this strange baby they found, he chides her a bit by calling her by her full name: "MARTHA CLARK KENT, are you listening to a word I'm saying??"

That Martha Kent's maiden name was Clark was long established in the comics. Movies and TV shows may have glossed over it but it was around before this show. The biggest change from the comics so far is Brainiac being a Kryptonian AI Most of the lore it is drawing from is the 1986 reboot of the character.

Ah, after Aaron’s comment I kinda wanted to see their reaction to the “oh I just flew” line - fun all the same though. I do enjoy how open Clark is with Ma and Pa, as well as Lana, about his powers This may be my favourite version of Lois, and one of the best versions of her and Clark’s relationship. They have great chemistry and a fun bit of playful rivalry which is always great Finally, Clancy Brown as Lex Luthor is excellent, possibly the best Lex we’ve had. Just gets the perfect mix of commanding and clever, with a hint of cowardice when on the back foot. And it will always be funny when I look at his other roles

@@Mansplainer2099-jy8ps ok for one, if they wanted to impress on the viewer that clark was a different age then they shouldn't have had henry cavill playing anything under like early to mid thirties. second, I still think that's a fucked up stupid dynamic to pick for jonathan kent, especially when jonathan couldve been the one to get all the people to the overpass and clark coulda gotten the dog, since he wouldn't have been in any danger regardless. felt really forced and just reeks of snyder trying to display his cynical views of what superman should be.

@@KhalilC17 _"ok for one, if they wanted to impress on the viewer that clark was a different age then they shouldn't have had henry cavill playing anything under like early to mid thirties."_ Well, I think they mentioned him going to college. _"second, I still think that's a fucked up stupid dynamic to pick for jonathan kent, especially when jonathan couldve been the one to get all the people to the overpass and clark coulda gotten the dog, since he wouldn't have been in any danger regardless."_ But that would put Martha and Jonathan and all the people at more risk since the overpass is not some foolproof safepoint unless Clark is there to be the "anchor". And if the tornado gets to Clark that is also risking exposure of his secret. That's part of the point; Jonathan prioritizes based on the big picture from the beginning. _"felt really forced and just reeks of snyder trying to display his cynical views of what superman should be."_ I think you're confusing cynical with realistic. Man Of Steel was a realistic take on what it would be like to be a Kryptonian with good morals on Earth rather than the Mighty Mouse-ish juvenile power fantasy where the universe will always have your back so your powers will always provide a nice third option out of any dilemma (i.e. a Saturday morning cartoon).

@@rodrigorodriguez6332 _"everybody gets that but it's stupid"_ Arguably it's not stupid. _"superman's character saves regardless of consequences that's who he is"_ Jonathan chooses to die to protect the world from possible World War III. 17 year old Clark doesn't (try to) save Jonathan against his will because it would put the world in danger of World War III and most likely endanger Martha and the others near Clark. _"if superman knew he could've saved his father but chose to let his father die is out of character"_ He did not know for sure he could. He's 17 and doesn't know he can fly, he might not even be sure about his superspeed under such windy conditions. And again, there's Martha and the other people to consider. _"if Snyder wanted a dramatic death scene then Papa Kent should've had a heart attack after the discussion that Clark and him had during the car scene and have Clark trying to save him but can't because it's something out of his control and would've added to whole dark theme that Snyder wanted"_ The heart attack thing has been done and would have nothing to do with Jonathan's "council" about the bus accident and Clark not becoming Superman until his thirties. It wasn't just about "wanting a dark theme", it is about morality, how such great power would weigh heavy on a good person.

Both of their voices are so alike in tone and cadence, its almost impossible to tell them apart unless you see the credits. Both have reprised their roles as the voice for the Man of Steel for many years and throughout many DC movies and shows, some of which that will come up as the DCAU continues.

To me this is The Lex Luthor. Whenever I read a comic that has Lex it’s always this voice I hear. And any live action Lex I always compare to this.
