Im still going to watch it because i notice that iwatch these reviews and then i actually like the movie. I think because we have become so desensitized in our society, we have extreme expectations for movies these days. I think each movie deserves some credit. It does take a lot more than people realize for writers and directors who fully make movies. When they try and make a movie out of the box, it deserves kudos. I disagree. I really liked this film. I agree there were a few things that were on the nose and a couple of parts could have been tightened. But I thought it was really good. It was well acted. The tension was good. It was eerie and effective and hard-hitting. I also think the motivations were well done. We do know why Freda wanted to escape. But the film doesn’t hit us over the head. Same with Tatum.

Generally the movie is okay for me. As a SA survivor I related to the message of forgetting versus remembering. I think Kravitz did a good job of exploring this topic because she deeply cared about the issue. The ending was weird, I really just wanted to see them get justice, but they made their own kind so I guess I can understand. To forget the trauma is to repeat the trauma, this message can sincerely be eye opening to people who choose to forget.

I loved your idea about the red bags being gifts for the men to use again with their wives, girlfriends, or acquaintances. It's the perfect disguise, as the women wont even remember what happened. Zoe is really onto something with this movie. There is a report in France rn of a man who drugged his wife and allowed other men to assault her. She had no memory of the events and only found out when the police arrested him on unrelated charges and searched his phone. Apparently, he had been doing this to his own WIFE for YEARS!

The main character needed more development but that doesn’t make the movie horrible.

Those girl boss' moments and the "yess queen" ending were as condescending and childish for me as beyonce's "who run the world? Girls!!" Song. Stepford wives is more feminist than this movie and it was written by a man! Also, I'm on board with you regarding the Channing matter. He's the big bad guy, only he doesn't have a PERSONALITY. What's his motto? In his "I'm sorry" scene, he could've just said "because I wanted to, because I could" idk. I felt him and Frida had no chemistry, I also didn't get their fixation and why she chose to stay with him. There was so much that could've been done.

I was also very put off by the editing, but once I got in sync with the intent, it became more of a different flavor than outright "bad". Btw worth mentioning: "Dream Scenario" handled the man's apology in a way that satirizes what Zoe Kravitz seems to be going for. I a huge fan of movies & actually really loved it. I had not seen a movie that interesting in a while ; Could there have been more context / personality to the main characters, yes, at times. Were there any visual choices I would've made differently? Definitely, but everyone would make different choices filming a specific story. To say it was a ridiculous movie made by a talentless nepo baby is bonkers to me. It conveyed perfectly the message ; the entire movie is about power, and if you're not willing to watch this movie on the psychological level, than you probably won't like it. I found the lack of personality of some characters actually refreshing. To me, it help representing them more as social concepts. Channing was that ultra rich and pretty boy with childhood traumas. She was a struggling middle-class woman romanticizing luxury and fame, that didn't know exactly where she was heading in life. With that in mind, I think the ending was great because it pushed the power related issues as a final statement, which was the intention (it was literally in the warning at the beginning of the movie ; it is about power) ; When you gain power, do you chose to try to change things? Are your changes for the better? Do you chose to lean in the already established organization? Or do you try to benefit from it? Not everyone will love this movie, but as mentioned, I think calling it a stupid, poorly depicted story with little to no substance is insane. All the ''missing information'' people would've liked actually helped to conceptualize deeply rooted problems in the rich, traumatized & behavioral aspects of the world.

Spot on review! My wife and I cannot believe how bad this movie was. This was one of the worst movies I’ve ever seen and I’ve seen a lot of bad movies. Everything about Blink Twice was superficial at best. To have a story about a “regular girl“ who’s obsessed with a super rich and famous tech billionaire. Then, with the accompaniment of her “regular” friend throws caution into the wind and ends up on an island. As days go by, continues to ignore all signs of terror. A freak incident occurs that eventually makes the main character wake up so to speak. The girls fight back and then the main character becomes the head of the company of said rapist tech billionaire while still being in a relationship with him…. WTF!?!? With an ending like that, all of the women fight back/girl power aspects of the film or destroyed. It seems like this movie was written by a rich stoned teenager. It was shockingly bad.

Strange Darling is the movie to check out this weekend. Helluva ride imo.

I'm trying not to overrhink this one, flip my brain onto plebe mode and say it was simply entertaining, a simple one and done, nice popcorn flick to go through the motions of getting out of the house, and nothing more. Funny though how she points out the setting seemed taken right out of the director's own life. Reminds me of that movie Storytelling where the film is broken up between the fiction and non-fiction, and in the fiction section the creative writing students shamelessly indulge telling about their own life experiences. Anyhow, hope a Strange Darling review is coming soon.

I got the feeling many people enjoyed this movie just because of the colorful visual aspect and the final twist (oh, suprise). I know a good amount of people who don't ask for much else than it when watching a movie. Not enough for me. This movie is bland food for streaming service. It will be seen for an audience checking their X/Instagram feed while the reproduction goes on. I wish Zoe Kravitz would go for roles like the one she did for High Fidelity show. That was a good one for her

I believe the reviews of this movie would have been higher had the trailer not given away 90% of the plot

While both _Blink Twice_ and _Strange Darling_ are shot beautifully (I saw both as a double feature 2 weekends ago on the basis of their _seemingly_ similar broad gender themes), SD is clearly the far superior film IMO. While its plot is deceptively simple, the strategic nonlinear arrangement of its 6 chapters is both a clever story device and a masterclass on deceptive framing. And the final scene? OMG. Just it by itself is worth the price of admission. BT, like with _Longlegs_, comes off as the director being too impressed with their own technical abilities and forgetting to craft a coherent story.

Just because you say something with conviction it doesn't make it correct. There was way too much anger and hate behind this review and when I hear a hater doing they job I completely tune them out. The movie could be garbage but your delivery just made me want to watch the movie even more.
