It's VERY solid despite what people would have you believe. Literally every critique of the game is a minor problem, and it does have a lot of minor problems, believe me, but it's super fun, super unique, and the soundtrack is GODLIKE. If you think you'd enjoy it, play it. Right now.
@damienman257 жыл бұрын
Personally, I liked Blinx but I found it to be too hard. The one hit kills got annoying by around the fire/ice level, the crystal mechanic got frustrating since i had to be careful with the crystals i picked up, and I felt blinx was too slow the entire game. That really hits hard when you get to the later levels. Bear in mind I was like 10/11/12 or something when Blinx first came out, but by then i had played lots of Mario, lots of Sonic, some Crash Bandicoot...all of which were characters that moved faster and controlled better than I felt Blinx did. But beyond the character, Blinx was just a slow paced game in general. One hit kills, having to plan moves well in advance, being careful with what you pick up, and moving too slow to consistently avoid damage... Blinx was a slow paced game about being tactical and accurate with your movements and understanding pattern recognition, not so much skill, though skill did play a factor. this game came out in like 2002 i believe. At that time we had: Jak and Daxter Ratchet and Clank Sonic Adventure 2 Super Mario Sunshine Sly Cooper Kingdom Hearts Oddworld: Munch's Oddyssey Prince of Persia was coming out next year Halo Mech Assault SW:KOTOR And a ton more games that I can't even think of at this moment in time. As a mascot for Xbox Blinx already had one hell of an uphill battle since at the time Halo was killing it in sales, being the main reason people bought an xbox despite them eventually shipping Blinx with Xbox, along with SegaGT and Jet Set Radio Future (JET SET RADIOOOOOO) and the other consoles already had very solid lineups for mascots. Gamecube had basically Mario and Luigi, and Playstation...clearly had an overabundance of cartoon characters. As a stand alone game, while i can only speak for myself, i feel that the overly serious feel of the boxart, which actually kept me and my brother from playing it seriously despite hearing the good things, and the slower, unforgiving gameplay just didn't do it any favors with winning over the kids. Those are just my thoughts though.

I swear, this and Classic Sonic the Hedgehog are EASILY the two most creative platformers to ever exist. I thank Naoto Oshima entirely for this one. His work is nothing short of phenomenal. The ending cutscene is the most wonderful, triumphant, heartwarming moment I've ever felt in a video game. Blinx (reluctantly) returns to the factory, only to be greeted by a standing ovation. Everyone is CHEERING, the dimension is restored, his work paid off, he became a hero for years to come! And he still receives a proper goodbye from Princess Lena. It's all perfect. To be honest, I really wanted to see Lena in the sequel. She's quite the persistent fighter. What if she somehow made it to the Time Factory just to find Blinx again and becomes part of an effort to fix ANOTHER time disaster?

How did you manage to beat the level 7 (everwinter) boss without losing a LOT of retries? I think I have tried to beat this boss 50x or so, and I still can't beat this boss in a reliable way. I either loose or win but loose a lot of retries. I personally think this boss is more difficult than the level 8 boss. And... By the way: Do you know the level 6 boss exploit? It makes it very easy to beat the level 6 boss with rank S+ without buying anything in the shop.
@JorgeLeitner6 жыл бұрын
Hey man. Sorry for the late reply, I probably didn't get notified by your comment when you posted. Anyways, Boss 7 from Everwinter is hard indeed, but I don't think it's harder than Boss 8 from the Forge of Hours round. I guess that's a matter of opinion, of course. With Boss 7, just make sure to keep double jumping while running around when the monster is up in the air before hitting the ground. This way you won't get hit the the red wave of the impact. Same thing when he's dumping the trash at you. It's really important that you don't stay at the same place for too long, you gotta keep moving. Aside from that, just make sure to make EVERY shot at him count. Because if you miss too many shots, all the ground will be sunk before you win the stage. And leave the large middle ice ground, don't let it sink, because that's the largest piece of ground in the stage. Now, the Boss 6, from the Mine of Precious Moments round, that's hard too, I really hate that boss. I don't know what you mean by the exploit, is it some kind of trick?

What adds to the heroism of Blinx, is the seemingly fact, that he pioneered monster fighting. So far, it is established the Time Factory sweepers are only tasked on preventing monsters to ever happen, but I guess Blinx decided to try use his sweeper for other things than... sweeping time crystals. I may have overlooked Blinx a little bit back in the day. I'm a playstation kid but I think Blinx does deserves a proper and well respected next gen total reboot and it coukd be a Ratchet & Clank Competitor. It might have just been a little too ahead of it's time really, I loved the time travel gameplay in rachet & clank a crack in time on playstation 3. it builds you up to the more complex time puzzles and feels natural. But this is just the Clank gameplay on that game. I remember in Blinx, not really knowing what I am supposed to be doing when I first tried it. I dont remember any time travel play even being an option. Maybe if the cutscenes where just more frequent and engaging and more informative throughout the game and just gave me a more fleshed out world to get started in, i might have loved it more than anything. I love time travel and for some reason I don't love this game. But i really only remember Getting bored and just playing halo again after I tried Blinx lol. So I have a biased memory, but I completely 100% would support a Blinx reboot. There is just something special about that time in history when everyone was trying to shatter crash Bandicoot with a new and better thing. I feel liked it birthed the new console celestials ratchet & Clank, jak & Daxyer, blinx. I even remember a junkyard robot game. The promise of something greater than playstation1, for me it was seeing Ratchet & Clank and Jak & daxter for the first time on a playstation 2 demo on TV. This was the first time I saw a next gen anything and it had me sold from the moment I saw these new worlds. I just knew that I had to explore everything there is to know about this because everyone at school is going to be talking about it.

I love your videos, NitoRad! I never owned an Xbox as a kid, or a Playstation, so learning about these games through your videos has been interesting!

I loved Blinx, both of the games. Still heartbroken it never got a PC release. :(

I like your channel. Reminds me of AVGN but my generation of games. I'm 24 by the way. I always wanted AVGN to cover these games but this is nice too! I like how your your own person and does your own thing. Underrated channel.

The whole Time Cristal thing reminds me of TimeSplitters, I was almost waiting for Cortez to appear and say: "Oh yeah, it's time to split!"

This game was my first obsession as a kid, I used to vacuum my room every day because of it hahaha, I built my own time monsters out of boxes and trash and beat the shit out of them. I miss Blinx

Arzest inherited a lot of the same key staff, so you could say they're somewhat of a spiritual successor. The real tragedy is the fact that the Blinx trademark was formally abandoned after over a decade of inactivity. :(

The world building of the game is so underrated! It is clear Momentopolis' boss is the critical mass monster the Time Factory main computer freezes the dimension for, due to the music use of that cutscene. It probably has a mythical status for the Time Factory dimension. And why wouldn't it! I just freaking love final bosses that are the only enemies to be able to tamper on your own powers.

Holy balls! It's been like a decade and a half since I've heard this game's name and I got a flush of memories because of it! I played it when I was like a tween and very much enjoyed it but couldn't quite beat it as I got stuck on the final boss rush, damn I hate that ice douche! So I guess this does give me some closure on the ending but I also played the 2nd one and barely remember it except for beating the ending which is probably a bad sign and it was much easier though so at least there's that
