This solo live performance by Bobby Hatfield of “Unchained Melody”, while not the first rendition, is widely considered to be the best, as well as to be one of the top five live performances of all time. It is widely considered to be the single best performance of this song, of all time. Bobby Hatfield and his singing partner, Bill Medley, put “blue eyed soul” on the musical map. One man, one microphone, no autotune, no computer tricks. Just pure talent and that rarest of all singing voices, the contra tenor. Brilliant. Timeless and brilliant.

She was at peace while I played the Irish songs she loved including I’ll Take You Home Again Kathleen, and I Wish I Was In Carrickfergus, she died with a smile on her face as I sang along quietly. As hearing is the last sense to leave, I’m comforted that she had that experience as I’m sure your mum did too. Take care, love from Northern Ireland xx

I was an 80's child raised on music daddy grew up listening to. Watching these type of reactions to music I've known my entire life is probably just as much to me as it is to those who actually grew up with this being the music they had available at the time. The thing I probably miss the most about my father is riding next to him in his truck as a young child, shifting the gears for him and listening to truly great music that was so full of emotion and soul. Boy I could shift gears like no one's business before I could ever reach the pedals. Every time I hear this type of music, I can smell the exhaust from that old truck, the smell of the stale cigarette butts in the ashtray and see the smile on daddy's face.

Now, every time I hear this song the memories of that day come flooding back and make the tears just pour down my cheeks. A small club near El Toro Marine Base in So. California. A black Marine stood up and called out, "That's righteous, brothers!" A : while later, Bobby suggested they call themselves "The Righteous Brothers." The beginning of the greatest duo in the history of music. I wish Bobby were here to see the impact just listening to his voice has on everyone who has the good fortune to hear him. But being Bobby, he would be very humble, but happy. And Bill...great in his own right, still performing at age 82.

Somebody, pleeeze tell these Young Bloods that The Righteous Brothers COPIED the styles of the R&B greats from Day One. "Unchained Melody" was a huge hit by Black artists in the same style copied by The RB's; the RB's BECAME famous precisely as two White boys who sounded Black. Look it up, People!

Elizabeth Rich. The Righteous Brothers had great respect and admiration for Soul, RnB, loved performing them. When I first heard them in the early 60's, I thought they were black. They were so talented and did great justice to black music. They didn't do it to "copy" black music, but because they loved it. And they did they did a great job!

Now of course you have to listen to "You've Lost That Loving Feeling" to get them both singing. It'll knock your socks off!

As a teenager this song struck too close to home and hard to listen to with dry eyes. As an old man - nothings changed.

I was a senior in high school. We listen to, Righteous brothers, Otis Redding, Buddy Holly, John Denver, Eagles, James Brown, Alabama, Elvis, Four Tops, patsy Cline( related to her- she was a Hensley) , Oak ridge bros., I mean Like all the music was just talent. They didn't have all the electronics. such a good time to be alive. Music uplifted us, brought us together!

I didn’t expect I would be moved to tears by the song, the singer and the reactions of the younger people. Made me appreciate what a timeless classic it is. I am 70.

Unchained Melody isn't a group ,it isn't even 2 guys. It''s Bobby Hatfield all by himself with his amazing voice.

It makes me happy to see generations enjoying each other's music. I was lucky. When I was born my grandmother was an opera singer. My aunt's music was the late 50s, my mom's was the 60's my youngest aunt the 70s, my music the 80s, my little brother's music the 90s, and then there was grunge. I listen to everything from jazz to pop to rap to country (classic) and modern country. I had fun with this, thanks!

This song is a stunning masterpiece that marries uncannily gorgeous music with monumentally soul-stirring lyrics. When you take a voice like this - not just capable of those upper ranges, but with the ability to effortlessly craft each note beautifully - you’ve got a timeless song of exquisite, ethereal beauty! Keep your shows coming, young man. We enjoy you, your format, your love of your grandad very much! You have a lovable personality and your grandfather must be a very special role model to produce what we see and hear. 😊

The incredible and gifted voice of the late great Bobby Hatfield of the Righteous Brothers. No one has sung this song better. Written 68 years ago by award winning music composer Alex North with lyrics by Hy Zaret (1955) for the Prison Movie "Unchained." Andy Williams who was the host of his own show by the same named said it best "Beautiful!"

This song is CLASSIC. It is without a doubt the best make out song EVER! You don’t hear music like this anymore. I’m so lucky to have been a teenager in the 60s when we had the best music.
