I joined in the wee hours of the morning and plan to start watching the extended videos after I get some sleep. Hopefully that will happen soon. I always enjoy the handmade touches the most. You are right, it is a form of luxury. The most priceless and precious thing that I own was made by my great granny Moore. It’s also almost entirely made out of the debbil, aka polyester. She was a fantastic quilter but her vision and overall health were declining.when I came along. She had to be put in a nursing home when I was 2, going on 3 years old, and only took a few quilting supplies with her. She did stay with us at least one night on the weekends but she didn’t have the physical or mental space to do another full quilt. This was in the 1970s and for some reason people kept giving her polyester leisure suits. We had no idea why. She only wore cotton dresses, aprons and sensible granny shoes. The suits were very 70s. Bright colors, psychedelic prints, large butterfly collars… the works. She could not stand them but she also NEVER, EVER waisted anything. She cut up the suits and made a crazy quilt jacket for my 3rd birthday. It does have red cotton lining/backing but aside from the wooden toggle buttons and thread she used to sew and embroider around the patches it is a polyester explosion! Including the little red ruffle around the hood. I want to have a shadow box made to properly display it in. It was the last thing she made, and she did a beautiful job with what she had on hand.

What I am learning so far is that the Margiela woman has a sexyness not based on classic physical attributes but instead a sexyness truly rooted in the core of her being, and it shows on her self confidence, her cynicism, her playfulness, her non conformity, her ability to NOT wear clothes considered sexy or she can even dress as a man, she can even hide her feminine attributes BUT STILL radiating her deep femininity… I cannot imagine anything more powerful and sexier than that.

The way that he highlights everyday life while still creating these incredibly unique and tasteful designs is inspiring. I'm excited to find some new ways to express these ideas. The inspiration for my work is similar but of course this is several layers deeper. I'm taking notes.

Blown away by Johns latest collection, the youtube gods pointed me in the direction of Bliss and CDGs lumps and bumps and now this magnus opus. I now realise i am woefully undressed, and i need to completely re-evaluate this subject/object dichotomy vis-a-vis my guide dog, internally and socially. ASuperb work 🎉🎉🎉

ON CONTRADICTION: (43:24) the simple explanation is that they are just reflections of one another. The every day and 'average' as both a construct and reality. By not treating the model as a precious celebrity and just a human being, they gain anonymity - the camouflage is ordinary life moments.
@jsardone2 жыл бұрын
To build on that point, you can see that displaying 3 similar models simultaneously, they cancel each other out so all you can really focus on are the garments. It's the extreme opposite but very real reaction human physiology exhibits when more than 1 human face is portrayed and positioned in this way - they're averaged out rather than drawing the eye. They are acknowledged, and discarded (by the brain).

I think a derby looks good as well but with a wide sole and cushioned tough wax laces and a modification in between the heel and sole that more like a bump similar to the 2019 yoshi Yamamoto adida.

You're amazing, thank you so much for all your efforts! How does this patreon sub work? I have never used it before and am confused. Do I have to subscribe for a whole year to unlock your full episodes and how often can I watch them?
@BlissFoster3 ай бұрын
Thank you so much for the kind words! Happy to help! Subscribing for a year would be cheaper, but it’s all the same benefits. If you join any level of support, you get full access to everything. Please keep in mind that a few episodes from the series do not have an extended version on the Patreon, though most of them do. There’s also a massive amount of extended interviews and bonus videos on their outside of the series. Please let me know if you have any other questions, enjoy, and thank you for the support!

Hold on. How can one talk about "the social relationships of production" without talking about labor - that is, the labor of actually producing clothing as a commodity? This sounds like some kind of weirdly garbled Marxism with all the Marx left out.
