What an exciting weekend!! Aside from getting feet of snow, we had the opportunity to test our skills of clearing the driveway, maneuvering vehicles, running the Kioti and Woodmaxx in a 4 inch per hour blizzard.

You know, as a plow guy I think about that snowblower..It really makes a cleaner more aesthetic landscape in a super efficient way. Yes, I think about it a lot as I sit there in my heated cab wearing a T-shirt and listening to my Sirius radio while I shove the snow around then I see frosty the snowman come in off his tractor and shake the snow off...and I smile.

I'm so relieved you guys got some good snow!! Hope you can have some fun in it as well... those mountains need it so bad! The plains not so much but those mountains could use another 3-4 ft or a good spring rain season... either way... still praying for fire protective moisture for those Rockies!! So funny the challenges we find in ever situation as it comes in new places, eh? Smiles and blessings...

Fun Times! I would love to get a snow storm where we got a couple feet of snow. On occasion we do, but we got lucky here in Shakopee MN (Southwest of Minneapolis). Storm went further south and we only got about 4 inches. Originally they were saying up to 11. But within a few days it is suppose to be back in the 50's, so it will probably just melt! Time to buy a couple gallons of windshield washer fluid! :-) Stay safe!

I guess I was slightly off on my 16 inch prediction, just a bit. I love big snow. Everything slows down, gets quiet and peaceful. I had a snowplow business in the 1960's in New England with customers all setup, so whenever storms looked about done I'd start to plow often in the middle of the night which was a great time to be out.

I have always wondered why you did not have a real log burner. I live in the north of England and so our weather is nowhere as near as severe as yours but on at least 3 occasions when we have had a power outage it has been the difference between being warm and toasty and cold and miserable.
@ColoradoMountainLiving
@ColoradoMountainLiving 3 жыл бұрын
We really don't need it with the type of insulation we have in our home now, It would end up being too hot inside, as the temperature fluctuates quite a bit depending on if the sun is out. If the stove goes out, we still have heat in the basement, in the form of radiant heat in the concrete floor, so it's always warm 1 floor lower.

PVC frame with a steep roof you can strap to the tractors roll bar. cover the frame and roll bar with clear plastic and glue washers to any plastic parts of the tractor you want to attach the plastic to using magnets to hold to the metal or washers. Even if just used to keep the seat area dry/snow free it would be worth it if you had to remove before using due to visibility. U bolts or pipe strapping to hold onto the roll bar as you do not want to drill any holes into the roll bar as that can weaken it. Did you get the layer of Mexican dust in the snow? Looks like you need to build a wind resistant snow gauge for next season. The cheap way to do it is simply build a box with a removable bottom to dump the load and make one of the sides out of clear plastic to see in and as you don't care about rain as much you can simply buy a smaller sheet of plastic and cut into strips to just stack on the viewing side to get the 3+ feet needed for big storms like this one. Placed into a shaded but open area and you only need to worry about snow blown in off the roof, deck or trees as the snow once in is stuck in place. The more expensive but less labor way is they make clear PVC pipes that you could just put a removable cap on the bottom and stick a measuring stick inside it.
@ColoradoMountainLiving
@ColoradoMountainLiving 3 жыл бұрын
