Time for someone to get hold of the city and get that concrete "ditch" cleaned out. There's a lot of debris and build-up of silt on the edges, and it's blocking the pipes that drain into it. Phillip the cameraman has made his money today by getting wet more than once. lol Great job on getting it started working again, and you do see the massive buildup in there too. Fantastic job and I'm loving the double barrel action!!! Thank you!!!

How is it that with one or (at worst) 2 wipes of the camera lens with a dirty glove, the cameraman restores perfect vision. If I try that with my glasses while wearing work gloves it looks like someone cleaned them with a chicken fillet!

Any bets that the large trap is a later addition, possibly put there on order of the municipality? That's an industrial site, so the rain will be washing oil, diesel and all sorts off the roadways and aprons. The trap is there to catch that sediment, and is designed to be emptied once in a while, so that the run off isn't contaminated. Here in the UK we'd call the sludge gulper in. Same thing on the roads, each grate usually has a deep trap, which should be emptied about once a year or so. Just a thought.

You need a high lift jack to pull those grates up and off. The come in 2 foot tall sizes all the way up to 7 feet I think, but the 2 footer with a 3 ton chain or 5500lbs tow strap and a 2"by12" piece of wood for the base to keep the jack from digging into the ground or pavement.

The water and silt level of the canal being drained into is at nearly the same level as the drain. It will never drain correctly until that canal is dredged.

When you get a grate that won't pick up, I would jet spray around it to clear all dirt and pebbles. It should come out easy after that. One minute has passed and now I see I posted too soon. You did blast it with water. Good job.
