Great job.. dont listen to people who have never cleared a drain in thier life... why charge a customer for a jetter when you can get job done with a hand rod... these are the people who complain about the price when you bring in your invoice... great work was a true "sludge line" over here we never get lucky and have inspection to work from rarely a cleanout.. We have to work from traps or toilets through a trap and if there is a cleanout its buried under concrete floor of basement.. That's the ticket with a sludge line thin it out with water and and get that schisse moving
@drsurfer614 жыл бұрын
IMHO five minutes with a proper jet cost less than an hour by hand in every part of the globe, both in money for the customer and in sweat for the operator. The jet would leave the whole line clean, and not only the first few inches as with the rod: the manual cleaning is good to have recurring customers, anyway ;-)
@sergeantsewer8564 жыл бұрын
@@drsurfer61 if you read what his comment was before you'll realize why the hand rod is better in this scenario... a jetter and a man to operate cost 3x to 5x as much than one guy with a hand rod... If u.k they have a p trap inside a manhole that is dangerous to find with a jetter because it will fly up and take your head off... speaking from personal experience.. Not that I dont agree that using a jetter to clean the pipe is awesome and usually can clean it almost 100 percent.. Basically what he was saying that they aren't necessarily allowed to work on a certain portion of the drain different rules in different municipalities.. Also he was saying he rather not blow sewage all over the place on the ground and stuff... So really these guys are doing it the environmentally friendly way of getting the drain clear first then cleaning with jetter if they need it.. For example its 300-500 for a snake and a guy... its 500-1000 for a jetter everyone's prices are different.. Plus let's say it did take him 5 min to clear pipe with jetter now he has over an hours cleanup to get the sewage waste off the customers patio or landscaping to do to get it out of thier begonias.. No grief intended just educating people.. if we all did some of the things drain addict does then we would be blasted by alot of customers for destroying their property

@@sergeantsewer856 I would honestly prefer to pay extra for having it jetted than to pay for hours of unnecessary work. If you do this job and you are careful about how you do your work then you shouldn't have a problem with using a jetting system. You must be someone who uses the plunger method to bilk homeowners out of money, when you could do it easier and faster with a jetter. IMHO!

How long does it take for it to get this bad? I can't imagine the smell is all that great either, even WITH the large heavy metal lid. I'm always amazed at how chock full these are. John Casey that’s how some British drains are, it’s a U bend and the pipe above that has been blocked off would have been an overflow bypassing it but they let rats through which is why that one is blocked off. These type are old and are not installed anymore
@spencerwilton58314 жыл бұрын
[Content Deleted] 51487852 Wrong. It's a rodding eye. Designed to allow access to the pipe beyond, without having to go around the U bend. They are capped to prevent sewer gas from the main sewer coming back up causing smells. They were considered necessary when these drains were constructed (possibly Victorian, certainly pre war) as we the materials to make the highly flexible yet strong drain rods we have today didn't exist.

Our jetting machine is adequate for the the job in hand but this is an interceptor leading to a main line owned by water company and we are not aloud to access without consent from them, also jetting should always be done going away from the property and not towards it to stop waste overflowing into customers property or garden.

@@drainunblocking6991 i call bs on this. theres more then plenty of room left to jet that thing without any overflow. and i doutb your customer likes to pay 30min overtime just to prevent the risk of overflow a little. on those big UK interceptors its almsot impossible to overflow. work case you need a little cheap pump to keep it down. still better than this, wtf. any kid would have done it this way
