I have experienced this very thing at the Hager's Creek public boat ramp on Lake Norman. These people are running a boat tour business from a public facility with no regard for other boat owners. I voiced my concerns to North Carolina Wildlife and this was their reply: They are not breaking the rules if there is no money being exchanged on the access area. If they were to do that, then that would constitute running a business from the access area and would be breaking the rules. As long as they are parking in the appropriate spaces and using the access to launch and retrieve their boat along with the occupants of the boat, I don’t think they are breaking any rules. Unfortunately it is inconsiderate to block a ramp but as long as there is someone on the boat or minding the boat as opposed to it just being tied and left there, it’s not illegal. I have sent this to field staff and our local enforcement officer to keep an eye on the situation, they will check it out. That was last summer. I will be at the ramp soon to check out the current state of affairs! Regardless of the way Wildlife reads this, it is unacceptable behavior and way deep in the gray area of legality.

Paige and Kevin. During the course of your videography, maybe you could note the amount of time that the commercial tour boats are tied to the docks and the amount of time that it takes to load their passengers, and pass that data on to SCDNR and see what they have to say. It would be nice to know if the pontoon boats, used for the tours, are equipped with enough life preservers for the large amounts of passengers they are hauling! I grew up in upstate SC, and lived there from age 4 to 16. My dad always took my mom and I out his his boat almost every weekend in the summer back in the late ‘80s and the ‘90s. We never experienced people being rude enough to block the boat docks back then. Same with upstate NC back in those days. Most people were really considerate at the NC and SC boat docks during that time. We never experienced idiots at the boat launches. Guess we were lucky, IDK.👍👍

RUDE PEOPLE on those pontoons
@gjtexas717611 ай бұрын
Just untie the pontoon and push it out of the way! Pontoon should have gone out and hovered after unloading until his trailer was in position!
@katieking883011 ай бұрын
Heck, they all could have waited on boat until they could drive it onto their trailer; thereby not disturbing people going in or out

There would have been some serious property damage if that had been me. But what can you expect from selfish people who are incapable of rational thought.

Where is the marine police when you need them. Pull them over shortly after leaving the dock, and do a real thorough inspection, on each boat. Then the next shift can check them when they come back. I’ve had 2 inspections in one day. One by FGW and one by marine state police. The second one came when I put a can of soda to my lips.
