Interesting interview. Paul is genious in choosing scholars. The scholar is quite rational in reading the message of Bible and genuinely says that the followers of prophets didn't not understand the metaphorical language of books and King's men especially distorted the message to appease their kings like that happened aftert the death of Ali R.A. after butchery of kerbala. But surprised! why did he stop after Jesus A.S., didn't bother to go through the Qur'an and last prophet in this chain of God's messengers. I thought you should have enquired? Anyway, nice to be part of the program. 👍

If we already have the prologue of John 1 calling Jesus as the word of God that is a God (v1) and became flesh (v14), why is it controversial to suggest that the same writer, as a climax of his gospel, would have Thomas confess to the Word (Jesus) as being both Lord and God! Basically, that Thomas is dramatizing what was said at the onset? You don’t even have to believe that Thomas said those words, but that the writer of the gospel intended for his readers to see Jesus and both Lord and God. Plus, why is Adela presuming that the writer of John intended the same meaning for his Greek words, the Latin equivalent as used for Domitian? Is she suggesting that Thomas was “flattering” Jesus as Domitian was flattered with honorific titles??

If a loved one after their passing appears to you, wouldn’t that the proof that they were indeed dead. And that their appearance serves to comfort the grieving? Do you run to the cemetery to check if the loved one who just appeared was bodily raised from the grave? No, you concluded that they are indeed dead! But that’s precisely what the disciples did not concluded. The appearances of Jesus convinces them that he was not dead. The very opposite of what you would expect when someone were to see a “vision” of a deceased. And that is why the empty tomb is important. While it is true that an empty tomb does not prove that the previous occupant was raised from the dead, an empty tomb is necessary for a bodily resurrection. And that is why Christians worship on a Sunday (the Lord’s day) commemorating the day He rose from the dead! The empty tomb has always been part of the Christian message because it says that the appearances were not just visions.

Akhi I really don’t like religious debates. It turns religions to a football game and often oversimplifies deep and complex beliefs for the sake of comparison. Comments will say hurtful things to both sides which is prohibited by Allah and distasteful. People of the book lived with our prophet PBUH and he answered their questions and challenges, so what more to be said?. As for us Muslims lets stick to what Quran advised us to do: Say: "O People of the Book! come to common terms as between us and you: That we worship none but Allah; that we associate no partners with him; that we erect not, from among ourselves, Lords and patrons other than Allah." If then they turn back, say ye: "Bear witness that we are Muslims.

Notice Paul asks if jesus was a "prophetic messiah" or a "divine messiah". THE messiah was to be a king. A ruler. Paul can't match a king messiah with Koran. So he presents a false dilemma between A and B when he already knew in his heart that THE messiah was C, a king. A king who sits on a throne and who rules the world. There would be no need for "prophets", because the messiah is the only go-between heaven and earth. He is the judge of judges. He will judge by supernatural means (Isaiah 11.3-4). There will be no need for "prophets". Muslims are quick to say "jesus is THE messiah", but they have *no idea what it means for someone to be "THE messiah".

Hebrews you say of Abraham, messiah quote 4 Now he had to go through Samaria.(C) 5 So he came to a town in Samaria called Sychar, near the plot of ground Jacob had given to his son Joseph.(D) 6 Jacob’s well was there, and Jesus, tired as he was from the journey, sat down by the well. It was about noon. 7 When a Samaritan woman came to draw water, Jesus said to her, “Will you give me a drink?”(E) 8 (His disciples had gone into the town(F) to buy food.) 9 The Samaritan woman said to him, “You are a Jew and I am a Samaritan(G) woman. How can you ask me for a drink?” (For Jews do not associate with Samaritans.[a]) 10 Jesus answered her, “If you knew the gift of God and who it is that asks you for a drink, you would have asked him and he would have given you living water.”(H) 11 “Sir,” the woman said, “you have nothing to draw with and the well is deep. Where can you get this living water? 12 Are you greater than our father Jacob, who gave us the well(I) and drank from it himself, as did also his sons and his livestock

Interesting but more for example combine Daniel 12:1 with Exodus 32 This.... Daniel 12 ► King James Bible Par ▾ Michael's Deliverance and the End Times (Revelation 1:1-3) 1And at that time shall Michael stand up, the great prince which standeth for the children of thy people: and there shall be a time of trouble, such as never was since there was a nation even to that same time: and at that time thy people shall be delivered, every one that shall be found written in the book. Moses Intercedes for Israel 30And it came to pass on the morrow, that Moses said unto the people, Ye have sinned a great sin: and now I will go up unto the LORD; peradventure I shall make an atonement for your sin. 31And Moses returned unto the LORD, and said, Oh, this people have sinned a great sin, and have made them gods of gold. 32Yet now, if thou wilt forgive their sin; and if not, blot me, I pray thee, out of thy book which thou hast written. 33And the LORD said unto Moses, Whosoever hath sinned against me, him will I blot out of my book. 34Therefore now go, lead the people unto the place of which I have spoken unto thee: behold, mine Angel shall go before thee: nevertheless in the day when I visit I will visit their sin upon them.

Regarding Isaiah. If you had to do a book report, and the book was 66 chapters long, but you only read chapters 7, 9, 53, and 63, you would be in trouble. And you likely would end up failing it. Now with that said, it makes absolutely NO sense that Isaiah would be referencing the trinity, while Moses centuries earlier did not. And that, if the trinity were true, then why is God only revealing His triune nature centuries later after the writing of the Torah (after the Five Books of Moses), using ambiguous passages-centuries later after it was firmly established that the Lord was One? Why would God only reveal His Threeness through Isaiah, but not EXPLICITLY through Moses?? It makes NO sense; and while the Christian prophecies are ambiguous leading to different interpretations, no Jewish prophet ever went on to specifically state what the trinity IS and IS NOT. Concluding, now, that what the doctrine is is nothing more than an unverified hypothesis that was adopted by the church in the 4th century AD, created out of the minds of men, and defined by man as a ‘mystery’...

A prophetic messiah who is anointed or appointed as king messiah, does not necessarily become a de facto king (ex: Jesus). A priestly messiah who is anointed as king messiah, does not necessarily become a de facto king (ex: Hussain). It is more a matter of right that can be executed only when it is backed by the freewill of man. Otherwise, the messiah (prophetic or priestly) will become a suffering one.

Subhan Allah, the answer to his question is in the Quran:- ( 4 ) And We conveyed to the Children of Israel in the Scripture that, "You will surely cause corruption on the earth twice, and you will surely reach [a degree of] great haughtiness. ( 5 ) So when the [time of] promise came for the first of them, We sent against you servants of Ours - those of great military might, and they probed [even] into the homes, and it was a promise fulfilled. ( 6 ) Then We gave back to you a return victory over them. And We reinforced you with wealth and sons and made you more numerous in manpower ( 7 ) [And said], "If you do good, you do good for yourselves; and if you do evil, [you do it] to yourselves." Then when the final promise came, [We sent your enemies] to sadden your faces and to enter the temple in Jerusalem, as they entered it the first time, and to destroy what they had taken over with [total] destruction. The word messiah meaning massage ie oil, unlike the word christ related to the etymology of the word grit and gristle. Totally contrasts what the jews were expecting in a messiah. Perhaps they were expecting someone like a black african oiling himself like a fighter. Knowing that the word dajjal has the word dujjilun related to it, meaning: the meanest basest kind of people, it's easy for me to see how wrong the jews would get it. In war, we greese the war machine to prevent grit and gristle. The same sort of ingenuity occured with Prophet Dawood alayhissalam using sling instead of a sword. Slickness vs the cumbersome. Of course when Eesa alayhissalam returns, he will pray for a strike that individually strikes each of his enemies in one go. Almost like the contrast between the elephant army vs the birds sent by allah to defend the kabah.

Jesus, initially sent as a prophetic¹ messiah, will be sent back only as a priestly² messiah. The Son of Man, a priestly² messiah, will be rectified as a king³ messiah. All messiahs are manifestations of the angelic⁴ messiah. 1 can be also 2 and/or 3 2 can be also 3 4 is the Spirit

Hey Paul, I had never heard that the phrase "My Lord and My God" was a honorific expression. And some people say the phrase was an expression of shock or excitement. I wonder though how people used such phrases 2,000 years ago. It seems like understanding the phrase has stumped many scholars, similar to "Son of man" and "Son of God." Thanks for the tidbit.

Totally missing: the Jews were facing a total annihilations, yet they alone upheld their belief in God by rejecting Roman demands to worship their emperors. Christianity owes heaps to the Jews.

We should not limit Gods plan and revelation to the interpretation or expectation of men. That has to be the most flawed Start point we could have. There were many other prophecies concerning the anointed one concerning bringing justice and righteousness to the world. Mankind routinely rejects Gods revelation and his messengers. Our start point for genuine messianic prophecies must be the ‘Old Testament’ passages quoted by Yeshua and his disciples in the New Testament. We literally have no other option. Why should we reject the testimony of the NT on this point? The Messiah came to call all of humankind to submit themselves to the ultimate king of the universe, God almighty, and to submit his instructions for living. Starting first with the Israelites to set them back on the right path and then expanding from there. What good is a physical military King who physically defeats his enemies if the hearts of Gods people are not radically changed to worship God in spirit and truth?

Joachim Jeremias and other have shown that Jesus himself applied Isa 53 to himself and his death. So Collins is incorrect in his repeated assertions that the early church was the first to make this connection. The legendary German scholar Joachim Jeremias and many others have further shown that Jews at the time of Jesus did have the concept of a suffering Messiah. So again Collins is wrong about this too. Besides the original meaning of the text, these are the most important questions regarding the text. So Dr. Collins gets at least two of the three wrong. I believe he gets all three wrong.

Paul's professor guest said jesus WAS "crucified". 🤔😂🤓 Time stamp 27:30 Paul and the guest then discuss the post crucifixion appearances, or rather the claims of an appearance. Paul says this is not unusual, but then gives examples of this happening when people have claimed to see a person AFTER that person......has died. So in context, the guest is saying jesus was crucified and died and Paul is saying that people claimed to see dead people appear after the person had died. Effectively saying that jesus did die on the cross, but the post crucifixion appearances ain't nothing unusual. Wow. 😎

Christians really need to start reading their Bible correctly, cause last time I checked in their Bible, it says “When Jesus had entered Jerusalem, the whole city was stirred and asked, “Who is this?” The crowds replied, “This is Jesus, the prophet from Nazareth in Galilee.” Matthew 21:10-11 "They looked for a way to arrest him, but they were afraid of the crowd because the people held that he was a prophet." NIV Matthew 21:46 Jesus said “Truly I tell you,” he continued, “no prophet is accepted in his hometown." Luke 4:24 The God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, the God of our fathers, has glorified his servant Jesus. Acts 3:13 Jesus also said "Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets. I have not come to abolish them, but to fulfill them." Matthew 5:17. Jesus NEVER said anywhere in the Bible "I am God" or "Worship me." Jesus NEVER died for theirs sins, His message was just like the other Prophets message "Your God is ONE." Jesus (peace and blessings of Allah be upon Him) also said “Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it. But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it." Matthew 7:13-14. Otherwise, you will be among the many he mentioned “Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. Many will say to me on that day, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name and in your name drive out demons and in your name perform many miracles?’ Then I will tell them plainly, ‘I never knew you. Away from me, you evildoers!’" Matthew 7:21-23.
@dtrez38662 жыл бұрын
"Christians need to start reading their bible" Ok, let's do that. "Matthew 21.10-11,& 21.46, the people said jesus is a prophet" But you say jesus is THE messiah. So the people didn't accurately identify who/what jesus is. Correct? So you are appealing to their limited understanding of the people who didn't know the most important thing about jesus, that jesus is THE messiah. Their messiah. "Luke 4.24, jesus says "a prophet is not without honor except in their own home" Again, you believe jesus THE messiah. Jesus is making a point in a way that they will understand. Why doesn't he make a claim about the messiah? Because jesus mentions "a prophet" in allusion to his own experience with the people, that means he is not the messiah? Your argument is beyond childish. "Acts 3.13, jesus as servant of God" Christian's believe jesus was a servant of God, as well as many other things. A "servant" is not above their master, but they can be "like their master" (Matt 10.25). Jesus said "the leader" is the one who serves (Luke 22.26). Jesus is serving the people (luke 22.27). Jesus as THE son of man came to serve and give his life as a ransom (10.45). So jesus's service to God is to redeem his people by sacrificing himself. Yet the old testament says it is impossible for a man to ransom and pay to God the price of just one person (psalm 49.7-8). Jehovah will ransom people (hosiah 13.14). Jesus = jehovah. "Matt 5.17, jesus came to fulfil the law and the prophets" Yeah, fulfil the laws and the prophecies about himself. Not a dot would change until it is fulfilled. "Jesus never said I am God worship me". Jesus never said in Koran "I am the messiah". Yet you believe jesus is. So don't pretend that your beliefs about jesus are dependent on explicit statements from jesus's mouth. So although jesus didn't tell anyone to worship jesus, people, including the disciples worshipped jesus on multipul occasions (Matt 14.33, Luke 24.52, John 9.38). And when some disciples doubted whether they should worship them, jesus told them that HE has all authority in heaven and earth (Matt 28.17-18). "Not everyone that says to me lord lord will enter the kingdom of heaven. Matt 7:21-23" Just like not everyone who claims to be a Muslim will go to Allah's heaven. As a Muslim you should understand the reality of the existence of hypocrites. So in "Matt 7.21-23", you are looking at false people claiming false miracles. "But it thise who do the will of MY FATHER" Effectively condemning all muslims who deny that God is a father. The Muslim god allah is a father to no one in any shape or form. A false god by definition.
