Exceptionally great movie with an intense plot explaining us how others are suffering on the other side when one buys diamond out here. He probably got shot around 1:17, Guys unloading into the bushes that Archer goes into. Adrenaline can fight off the pain temporarily, so he might not immediately feel it or be crippled by it.

Not saying Hollywood gets gunfights right, but real life ones can be very random. Some people take multiple shots before they go down, some go down without even getting hit (heart attacks to name a reason). Some gun shots can be more painful and/or crippling than others depending on what they hit. If I remember correctly, pretty sure I could have fixed his wound if it just penetrated his lung (obviously I cant do a full examination from behind the screen), but if it went untreated like it did in this movie, it would likely turn fatal, as one side of his chest fills with air or blood, it will eventually push the entire injured lung, heart and opposite lung to one side, eventually the pressure can be so great the heart can no longer function properly and heart failure will typically occur. Could have been fixed with anything to soak up the blood with an occlusive dressing over creating an air seal around the wound (text book will say 3 sided dressing, I say go with 4, they will likely eventually need needle thoracentesis or a chest tube anyways). Look for bilateral rise and fall of the chest, jugular vein distention (puffed out jugular veins), and especially tracheal deviation (this is one of the last signs you see before it becomes fatal), if you see those get ready to get blood or air out of the chest one way or another. Hope I was able to shed some light on this scene, like I said, Hollywood gets this stuff wrong a lot, but I don't see anything impossible or implausible about the chain of events in the end of this movie. Ooor that's just EXTREMELY common. Adrenaline is a hell of thing. Seriously, personal experience here (although not nearly as lethally obviously), it just burns a lot. Most people can't even tell they're hit immediately unless it's something vital, and the blood is the first indication. It was for me too. The area youre hit in is just destroyed so its more numb than anything, followed quickly by the burning. Especially for someone who is currently fighting for their life, which compounds it....Wouldn't recommend.

This scene is pretty badass. I don't think it's very realistic though. Those two men were surrounded by 6 armed mercenaries who were all brandishing assault rifles and were bracing for them to try and do exactly something like that. In real life they probably would have just gotten blown away. Fantastic movie, though. Thought it was great when I first watched back in 2008
