Man, I'm kind of sad that Old Man NPC was removed. That was some good voice acting and I feel interested in the concept of bringing a "normal" NPC blood, especially since blood was a cultural staple not just for hunters but citizens too, telling by the descriptions of the Pungent Blood Cocktails.

The Blood Minister went from being happy about helping you, to being hesitant and almost fearful. Not to mention him getting very meta during his death.

John Wright yeah, to me that line insinuated that hunters as a whole are cursed by the Moon Presence, and Gerhman is the tether for the dream where “moon-scented” or chosen hunters go to serve. In my mind, the moon gives us strength, so that we may overcome the fate of all others who were administered blood and not killed before they turned or became disenchanted with the idea.

Laurence told Master Willem about how to cure the beast plague but he didn't listen and keep doing experiment and even allowed Gerhrman to hunt "beast", Laurence didn't like it and created the healing church to do the research himself? 00:42 Doll. Look like an alternative ending? Or the Cord in the abandoned workshop supposed to be hidden inside the Doll in the first place. After you find out the truth and know how to end the nightmare, the doll gives you an offer to take the Umbilical Cord inside her? 01:00 Random guy or the Narrowminded Man? or is that the prototype of Gilbert? Look like he had some quest lines but kida silly. He was supposed taking the role of the crestfallen knight I guess. Umbasa 03:53 Blood Minister Look like starting style Ds2 to me. You first go somewhere and talk to the Blood Minister, he says something then your character creation begins. You can comeback to him later I guess, then the "fake doctor" kills him or pretends to help him and closes the door. 07:42 Gehrman This look like in the same alternative ending with the doll when you ask Gehrman to save him by killing him or so. The other dialogues maybe when you try to kill him in the dream he tells you that you will be the next one if he dies. 09:03 Master Willem I hate him now, he's a eye-coholic now. So Gehrman also betrayed Master Willem in the end (he got sick of his experimentation which made Lady Maria killed herslef). May be you asked Willem why is he blind or what is the hunter dream and he says it is Gehrman. So Gehrman joined the line with the Moon Presence to create a force to compete with Ebrietas of the Church and Rom of the Scholar? A perfect hunter to end it all. However Gehrman was cursed to bound to the dream in the process. 10:17 Father Gascoine Where is the Umbasa. 11:35 Password guy LOL

The Doll's dialogue seems like a permanent-death for her in-game, much like the maiden in black. This Master Wilhem doesn't match the one in the game.. I thought he wanted us to meet Rom to "stop the Ritual". But this one seems interested in unsuspecting dwellers for him to quench a nonsensical thirst for eyes.

@@jorgeloredo100 well we cannot rely on that cut content, i say this because someone else said that they cut it because the developers didn't want the story to be so clear, but i think they did because they changed the story a bit to make it better, for example: Master Willim being like this is so terrible, and Gehrman (in this cut content) accepts being freed like he doesn't care about the player's fate, that's all.

That would have been interesting, especially given the fact that if you complete the game with the "Yharnam Sunrise" ending and the "Childhood Beginnings" ending, on the third playthrough, you might rarely see the Doll praying over the grave behind you and she will talk to you about a Hunter she once knew. That Hunter being "you." This is taken even further by referring to this Hunter as a man or a woman depending on what gender you chose for your character at the start. So the idea that maybe the separate dialogue lines were for "hunt cycles" wouldn't actually be that far off to believe in.

Blood minister played a larger role. We finally hear Ebrietss in dialogue. Unless I'm just unaware. Looks like Willem was a covenant type NPC or sidequest in which you gave him eyes. Gehrman betrayed Willem as well? Makes sense since they were all together for what they did in the fishing hamlet. Gehrman must've left with Laurence and co.

Provost Willem's cut dialogue explains a lot, he used Byrgenwerth members to collect eyes from unsuspecting visitors for his own research after going mad himself. This explains the hostile Church member in Byrgenwerth and all of the eyes lying around. The plain NPC dialogue gave us more lore to theorize on than anything else considering that there was supposed to be another NPC we were supposed to come across in the church. I wonder how many people are going to make lore videos based on the recent cut content revealed in these videos? Not gonna lie, these cut content Bloodborne videos are the only videos that have my interest for the past two months and actually make me feel better. Between losing my Grandmother in late October, the corruption going on with our government, greedy corporations ruining everything, having two shitty jobs that pay like shit, suffering from physical medical issues, and Net Neutrality going away, video games are the only thing keeping me sane right now, that is until triple A publishers find some way to fuck that up as well :/

gankspanker 420 I should rephrase, I think that in the original game, he was supposed to be sorta like a solaire NPC who would be your tutorial for jolly cooperation. He'd have some dialogue like this when you met him, maybe some mention of the cleric beast or giving you a bell, and then you'd summon him for the fight. So then it would be more of a gut punch when he ends up being the next boss. The way he just casually engages in conversation with you before the fight always seemed weird, it would make slightly more sense if he had met you before and THEN went crazy, and when he saw you he just started talking like an old pal, only to reveal that he's about to murder you

I think that would have been nice to keep in the game. Would have been interesting to drop the name Ebritas and then never bring it up again until you come face to face with this fallen Great One. Honestly, I feel terrible for this creature. Being poked, stabbed and God knows what else for possibly decades by the Healing Church is sad enough, but the fact that she won't even fight you until you attack first just makes me feel terrible for the poor thing. Regardless of that, I think it would have been better to keep that line in. It reminds me of the subtle hints Micholosh, host of the Bullshit raves on about with Kos and the Nightmare you've been dragged into.

I like this sort of stuff because it really shows just how haphazardly put together the stories of these games really are, everyone likes to think that Miyazaki has this grand plan all laid out and mapped out, but that's really inaccurate. Some could say that he's just making it up as he goes, and that may very well be right, but I prefer to think he's as much an explorer of his own narratives as we are. You hear all these writers talk about it all the time, sometimes your works and characters reveal themselves to you, you discover them and their intricacies and their beats naturally as you develop them. It's often said that Miyazaki's inspiration was literature he couldn't quite grasp (on account of his language limitations/immaturity/lack of familiarity with related works), so he filled the gaps in his head, and that's an experience he wants to relay to the players of his games. Maybe he can only do that as expertly as he has when he has to do that himself, even if it's his own work.

Not really. The phrase isn't something specific to the game. But it is interesting they had thought to play up the religious aspect a bit more at one point. Makes you wonder what it was going to be originally.

We already knew about the use of "Umbasa" in Bloodborne's cut-content before it's release. When people played the Network test, they found a way to access the fight with Father Gascgoine in which he did say "Umbasa", but that dialog was later cut from the game. As for what "Umbasa" means, it is most likely a translation from Elvish meaning "Our Daily Bread" which seems to connect it to several religious beliefs that exist in the real world. Therefore it is likely that "Umbasa" holds no specific connection to Demon's Souls, but is rather just a phrase Miyazaki uses when writing religious characters and upon realizing that it didn't really fit with the religious of Bloodborne (blood), he cut it. It was likely intended as a reference to Demon's Souls and nothing more.

It would seem that in the original storyline, you came to Yharnam with your friend Laurence to seek a cure for a disease. But unbeknowst to you, he was actually originally from Yharnam, and had ulterior motives that involved contacting the Great Ones, apparently the Moon Presence specifically. So he came back to Yharnam to hold up his promise to Gehrman. Perhaps the reason he left Yharnam originally was to study knowledge that didn't exist in Yharnam. And your task after awakening seems to be to find Laurence and something called Sage's Blood, which might just be the same thing as Paleblood...whatever that may be.

My mind is blown!!! These past two years, I‘ve spend digging and searching for hints about Bloodborne‘s lore. Like what it is between Gherman and Laurence. If they had a plan or something. Or why the hunter is refusing and fighting Gherman. My theroy was always, that the hunter, after getting enough insight into Gherman‘s situation, wants to free Gherman. Now that‘s even proven! What interested me the most here is the fact that a NPC was suppose to call a Laurence an "outsider" like the player character is and that he headed towards the church, but seemed to hold no title for himself. Even though we know that he is the "First Vicar" in the game we got. The part of that original scrip that they kept was most likely the fact that Laurence is an outsider, but he is also the founder of the Healing Church, but an outsider to Yharnam regardless.

Just yesterday we were talking about a coherent BB timeline and turns out even fromsoftware had doubts. The password guy and all that lines recorded ranging from a year to a whole century it's a clear indication of it. Then they decided to go full CONVOLUTION and he's already dead.

That last one is quite interesting as it gives us a time scale of the events in Yharnam. One year, to 20 years, to then a century. I can see why they would cut these out and even then couldn't decide on a proper time to be in. As it would just make things later on in the game more confusing. But if you honestly had to guess the span of events between Yharnam past and post-nightmare timelines. I would safely say it takes place within the span of a few months possibly weeks. The fires in Old Yharnam are fresh, and elderly figures like Weilum are still around. There isn't much decay as there is what everything looks like after a recent catastrophe. So there's your educated guess. As for Yharnam itself, the whole shit has obviously been going on over a century with the scholars and blood administration.

This suggests to me that originally you had to find the blood minister in 'real' yharnam to get the transfusion and start dreaming, but then they scrapped that and just started from the transfusion, which led to the cut of the altNPC, and the 'woken up with a nightmare' dialogue suggests that you were to return to 'real' yharnam outside of a cutscene at the end. These were good cuts I think, in medias res and all that.
