I have experienced, on several occasions, investors or just members of the general public calling me out for identifying and exposing scammers. Their "reasoning" went: 1. Are you a victim? 2. Have you been scammed/lost money? 3. Don't you have anything better to do? 4. Don't you know that the scammers would be in trouble too if they were identified? 5. Just walk away if you don't like what they are doing. Do I need to have lost any life-changing amount of money to have a legitimate reason to stand against scammers? Do anti-scammers or scambaiters need any "victim qualifications"? I certainly do not need to justify myself nor share anything with these people. I respect scambaiters for doing what they do to spread awareness and educate the general public on how these scams work and who the scammers are/were.

They also place fake adverts on Google and even YooToob and IG. These big companies make it quite hard to report and complain, then they'll just change name and pop up again. Sadly it's a highly profitable industry and they base themselves in easily corruotable locations. Microsoft should have a competing AI bit industry to waste the scammers resources.

I am a lawyer and in recent months I have been assisting several elderly people who are victims of economic scams that combine social engineering and sophisticated tools to invade and control smartphones and computers used for banking activities. The greed and cruelty of these criminals is truly disgusting, because their victims are usually vulnerable and in addition to losing money, they become depressed, very depressed. And to make matters worse, it is not always possible to recover the losses by taking legal action against the bank. This has become a major social problem, but it has not been treated with due care by politicians. I believe that some type of mandatory institutional insurance will have to be required of banks so that they are obliged to compensate the losses of the affected customers (especially if they are elderly). State repression of these crimes must also be intensified, because the ease and near certainty of impunity is a complicating factor.

@channelthree9424Күн бұрын
This is one of the worst things anyone can do. It’s these people who inform scammers that they’re being baited (actually pranked) is why the scamming has grown so much. They are being educated. They are learning how to be better scammers thanks to prank callers. They are not really scam baiters. Scam baiters never reveal to the scammer that they are being baited but prank callers do it all the time. Prank callers, such as these well-known people are really doing victims a disservice.

maybe one more thing to add "scambaiting" is not only about making videos and/or exposing scammers like most professionals do. There's different levels from prank calling to pi** them of and remind them of what they do, wasting their time by playing along as long as possible up to collecting evidences to report to authorities
@channelthree9424Күн бұрын
The problem with prank calling is that it helps the scammers more than it helps potential victims. Most prank calls do nothing to help and arrest scammers. They just do it for fun and it doesn’t really waste a scammer’s time because they know that prank callers are out there and they are trained to recognize them. Prank callers do real victims a disservice helping the scammers be better at what they do.
