I want to send you guys a huge warm thank you from wintery Finland for this unique and beautiful series of videos sailing in the Kimberley & pristine NW Australia. I've never been to Australia but i have been in awe of how natural and unspoilt your beautiful country is. You guys have such a natural ability for storytelling and teaching and i have had two wonderful days traveling and learning alongside you. The abundance of fish and clear safe drinking water from streams seems like a different planet compared to the Baltic sea. I really enjoyed your sense of humour and the respect you have shown to your environment. Many of us in Europe think Australia is full of crocs, snakes and poisonous spiders etc, but you have the old knowledge how to appreciate and avoid these risks while been fascinated by them at the same time. Lastly , thank you for a vivid tours of the rock paintings and most of all for just being yourselves on camera, this is my all time favourite find on you tube. I hope you guys get the fair wind and health to keep travelling and continue as ambassadors for an amazing Australia.

Thank you Gavin, we are both moved by your kind words. It is a beautiful place and our enjoyment is doubled by sharing it. We have many miles of wilderness to cover so we hope you will continue to join us in the new year and perhaps share this channel with others that, like you, enjoy a simple natural adventure. Welcome aboard Gavin.

I realize this last post of your The Kemberley's series is two years old now. I must say I have enjoyed the series a great deal, the area is incredibly beautiful and the aboriginal rock art out of this world. Both of you provide interesting commentary and keep things rolling along nicely while I learn, thank you both. Like Troy I too am a hunter by nature, so I pick up on things like his way of moving through the bush in that measured, always alert, pace. I too feel an excitement akin to his when I watch him (and Pascale) land fish. Watching either of you climb over and among those rock formations somewhat alarms me; one does not do that so freely in parts the US due to encounters with venomous snakes. I trust both of you to be fully aware however so remind myself to not worry for you. Both of you know fully what you are about.

Thanks guys for a wonderful trip up the Berkeley. We spent a couple of weeks exploring this most beautiful part if the Kimberly back in 2007. thanks for the trip up memory lane. BTW, very ballsy exit from the river mouth. You must have had your heart in your mouth during that exit, considering it’s only a couple of meters deep!
@FreeRangeLiving6 жыл бұрын
Phew, yeah that exit was sketchy till we could get a sail up. I was eying that lee shore pretty closely and ready to turn 180 at the first diesel cough and run back in under headsail round the point. Probably gave a few guests at the resort some entertainment with their breakfast.

This episode has a very good music selection that really made a lot for the finished result. Personally I like it when you carefully add just a little music in certain parts as a kind of spicing to the natural environmental sounds. (Way more interesting than keep on pumping more or less famous hits.) Your voyage is so related to the natural surroundings and your humble way of approaching aboriginal sites. This way of handling the sound department, as well as the storytelling, makes it very interesting. Big 👍🏽
@FreeRangeLiving6 жыл бұрын
You are enjoying Pascale's magic there. We both take part in structuring the shots and the combinations get a fair bit of collaboration but the sound editing is her baby. I bow to expertise on this one-Troy
@MiQBohlin6 жыл бұрын
Correct, the sound department should have at least 60% of attention in the editing process. A well taken care of sound makes all the difference. (And you don’t have to have 30 years of experience to be good, just use your ears and stay to your vision, oups)
@FreeRangeLiving6 жыл бұрын
Our external microphone with dead cat died in the bush and we haven't been able to replace it. We do use a Rode IXY microphone for voice overs and will use it separately when shooting with noisy lenses. We want to invest in better sound equipment once we have stopped to get a bit of work and are financial again. It is fun learning the skills to put these vids together but you may have to hang in there while we teach ourselves. Your advice and input is of course welcome.
@MiQBohlin6 жыл бұрын
As said before, I think you are doing great and this episode is a hit!
@MiQBohlin6 жыл бұрын
I reckon you could need a lavalier with aprox 3 meters of cable? Whatever mic you choose - pick the ones with bigger membran in each category, they give better result compared to cost.

Sounds terrific Heather. Maybe in 9 months we can help you become a lean mean fishin' machine. Not sure we can teach you much about sailing but its only a fraction of what we film.
