I’m from Michigan and I feel very blessed to have been born here. People don’t realize that the Great Lakes are basically land locked oceans. You can look out and see Lake Michigan, drive like 6 hours, and when you look to your left, it’s still the same lake. You should react to the song “The Wreck of the Edmond Fitzgerald”, by Gordon Lightfoot. It’s a true story of a shipwreck that took place on Lake Superior.

This is a big reason why a lot of people in the US don't travel outside the states. I think they're missing a lot by not traveling out of the country, but I can definitely understand why they don't when you see this video.

Depend on what you are looking for. If it's for culture architecture, and history then yeah Americans are missing out when they could be visiting places like Europe and Asia, but in terms of strictly natural beauty, the USA is unmatched and it's not even close.

Hard to pick a most beautiful state. Washington, in my opinion, is one of the most diverse and beautiful places I’ve visited. But then again so is Maine. But I like Montana too! But Colorado is great too. But I love the Sequoias! And backpacking in the Porcupine mountains in Michigan’s U.P. I can’t honestly choose. I’m in Illinois. And yes, there are beautiful places here too!

Another banger Matthew. I live in Washington near Seattle but I was born and raised in San Diego California. I agree that Washington is a top 5 beautiful state and I have been to a lot of states. When you come to the US you just have to visit the west coast states along with Idaho, Utah and Arizona (and Las Vegas, Nevada) I just love Arizona and its wide open desert spaces. You would not believe that the desert could be so beautiful. But it is. Norther AZ is mountainous and unbelievably gorgeous. Hawaii is also more beautiful in person than on any video. I spent 6 months there when I was in the navy and I was absolutely blown away by the shear beauty and freshness of the air and sea and stunning natural environment. We are so lucky to have a state like Hawaii and most Americans have not even been there. Thanks for this great reaction local bro. Peace and love to all of you Swedish brothers and sisters. 🤍🖤🤎💜💚💛🤍🤍🧡❤🤍🤍

In Alabama we have a place called Dimals Canyon. In this park is a cave that's home to glowworms we call them "Dismalites". The larva glow a bright green blue bioluminescent light and require a very select habitat to survive, only three places are known to be a home for these creatures, New Zealand, Australia and Dismal Canyon, Alabama. Alabama is also home to many caves, mountains, beaches, and waterfalls with lots of history.

I grew up in Utah, went to Hawaii for vacation in 1998 and we stayed until 2016. Best decision we ever made! We lived on Kauai for a year, Kona on the Big Island for 10 years, and Maui for another 8 years. Now I’m back in Utah for retirement. Just yesterday my husband and I drove up the Snake River to Hells Canyon and back home just for a road trip. My heart will forever be in Hawaii ❤ just before the pandemic I had some friends chip in and buy me a ticket to Maui for a few weeks. Best friends EVER. ETA my husband was offered a job in Alaska while we were living in Hawaii , I made him turn it down, now i kinda regret not going! He spent almost 6 months there working without me, while I lived near Volcano National Park alone. It was kind of awesome!

The US is unfair in this regard because it spans the entire North American continent east to west, and includes all the major climate zone areas north to south. Canada is bigger, yes, but it has no tropical or hot desert areas and much of it is inaccessible tundra. The US is more similar to the European continent as a whole than it is to any single country. Compare California to Italy, or Colorado to Austria, or Maine to Finland.

Utah is up near the top of my list; Bryce Canyon in particular looks surreal with all the rock spires, and the sheer scale of Canyonlands is breathtaking. If you prefer forests and lakes, Minnesota, Wisconsin, and Michigan have you covered; I took a Baltic cruise some years back and was struck by how much the scenery sailing out of Stockholm reminded me of that area. No wonder so many Scandinavians settled there.

For the record, at 1:39 is Grand Prismatic Spring in Yellowstone, but it's not otherwise featured here, and immediately following is Grand Canyon. Starting at 5:02 is the Mackinac (MACK-uh-naw) Bridge, which connects the Upper and Lower Peninsulas of Michigan, and is 5 mi./8 km. long, and it takes you across lakes Superior and Michigan. He mispronounced Isle Royale, in that he gave it a French pronunciation, which it should be. However, over time, though the spelling didn't change, it got Anglicized to 'I'll royal' from the original 'eel roy-AL', and Mt. Rainier as RAIN-ear, when correctly, it's rain-EAR. At 11:05 is a shot of Canyonlands N.P. Someone else who mispronounced Zion N.P. as ZYE-ahn; when correctly pronounced it rhymes with "lion", the same as the large hill in Jerusalem--Mt. Zion-- for which it was named. The odd-looking rocks at 11:22 are found in Goblin Valley State Park, where Tim Allen in his comedy movie Galaxy Quest fought with the rock monster. miss-SUE-luh (Missoula) is actually mih-ZOO-luh, Montana. He pronounced Alaska's Kenai Fjords National Park as kuh-NYE; it's actually KEEN-eye.

This is why we dont have high-speed rails. Each state is HUGE. We are a car/truck culture and don't want to spend billions on something that will ruin our untouched country and take away the great American road trip. Americans love our country (land) how it is. We have an Amtrack that's good enough.

Hi from Oregon. I grew up in Grants Pass, my family owning an Thoroughbred/Appaloosa Horse Ranch located along the famous Rogue River where the Applegate River flows into it. As teenagers me and friends would sometimes float down the Rogue River on tire inner tubes... of course with an cooler of beer in tow behind down through the Hellgate Canyon down to Indian Mary Park. I've lived all over the State of Oregon throughout the years including areas of Central Oregon such as Chiloquin and Chemult of the Oregon Outback near beautiful Crater Lake. I'm also an long haul Commercial Truck Driver and have been in all 48 States and even parts of Canada. Oregon has always been my home so I love it the best. If you're ever in the region of Southwest Oregon, it's fun and exciting to ride the Rogue River via jet boat excursion and there's many awesome places to fish for Steelhead, Salmon, Rainbow Trout, and also lakes for Bigmouth Bass, Catfish, etc. I love just being out in nature here and sure you'd like doing things that so many Oregonians enjoy. I've an dear old friend named Michael Garnier that lives in an small unincorporated community of Takilma not far from the famous Oregon Caves National Monument near Cave Junction, anyways he loves creating with wood and he built an family oriented "Out-N-About Treesort" which you can view about on KZbin. If you like wild edible mushrooms from Mother Nature, there's many different delicious ones that grow abundantly in Oregon forests such as Matsutaki, Morel, King Bolete, and others. Oregon Coastal forests abound with Chantrel mushrooms, etc. It's fun to pan for gold in Oregon creeks and streams. Thanks for your video.

In Seattle, you asked, "What's that in the far distance?" That's Mt. Rainier. It's a volcano, technically active. My husband and I moved here about a dozen years ago, and when we bought our townhouse, we were required by the bank that wrote our mortgage to get volcano insurance. :) Rainier hasn't erupted in a long time, and probably won't in my lifetime, but you never know. Look up a video of the eruption of Mt. Saint Helens (which is in Oregon, but not very far away geologically) to see what might happen if Rainier *does* go off.

Fun fact: When you said that Maine looks exactly like sweden, there is a reason for that. The Scandanavian Mountains and the Appalachian Mountains in Maine were formed together at the creation of Pangea and have since split, so the geography/topography are mere (ancient) continuations of each other.

I was born and raised in CA but my family has been in the Mojave (Southern Nevada) since the mid 1840s. After my father retired we moved back to the Mojave (he grew up here) and we love it. Most people look at the Mojave as a gravel pit, but I like it much more than CA, and I have lived in LosAngeles, SanJose and Sacramento. Southern Nevada is very beautiful, quiet, minimal pollution. There are plenty of National, state and county wildlife areas to enjoy. Just come in the spring, fall or winter and take plenty of water.

Portland, Oregon here! I live closer to downtown Vancouver, Washington, than to downtown Portland. The Portland Metro Area spans the Columbia River, the boundary between Oregon and Washington. From where I live I can drive to 13 distinct biomes within an hour and a half, and another half hour's hike will put me in absolute wilderness, virtually devoid of any other people. And within a day's drive are some really unique and interesting wildlands, all still within Oregon or Washington. My top pick is definitely split between Hawaii and Montana. Hawaii gets my vote just for being so distinctly different from everywhere else in the US. But while Alaska has so very much beautiful untouched wilderness, it kind of cheats, because that state is as big as the third of the contiguous US west of the Rocky mountains. Montana has much of the same breathtaking beauty (except the fjords and coastlands), but in a more accessible, compact space, only about 50% bigger than the UK, slightly larger than Germany. Alaska is about the same size as Western Europe, or all of Scandinavia, but there are few roads, so you need bush pilots or lots of overland trekking to reach most everywhere. (For instance, the largest US National Park is in Alaska, Wrangell-St. Elias, and has very few roads to traverse its vast wilderness, a bit larger than Finland.) It's definitely vast and beautiful, but generally unreachable, too. So, despite the beauty of my state, Oregon, and neighboring Washington, I vote for Montana to take the top spot. You just cannot travel anywhere there without seeing amazing scenic vistas. And yes, the sky does feel huge there, and gives the feeling of open adventure and wonder. (But if you have the chance, do not miss Hawaii.)

I live in Washington state and I absolutely love it. One thing that drives me crazy about this guy’s video though: it doesn’t rain here all the time. We have a rainy season (winter time) when yes, it’s not uncommon to see rain forecasted for the entire week, but summer time is usually very sunny with little rain. My grandparents immigrated to the upper peninsula of Michigan from Finland, and there’s actually a large population of Finnish-Americans in the UP (in the state of Minnesota as well, I believe). I’m still very connected with my Finn half (other half is Polish) and know a bit of Finnish myself, definitely not fluent like some family members are. But the upper peninsula always reminds me of Finland. The forests and the relatively small population probably have a lot to do with it. It’s like the forests in the UP and in Finland speak the same language. It’s a bit eerie, but ultimately really comforting. I have very fond memories of ice fishing with my grandpa and brother and going on long cross-country ski journeys into the woods.

Why haven't we told you about the natural beauty of the US? It's our dirty little secret. 😅 No, really...we do. It's just that whenever a lot of tourists, especially those from Europe cone to America, they tend to stick to just visiting our cities, and they don't get out to our great nature areas...which are actually VERY abundant. And here's the awesome thing. By purchasing a single $80 pass that's good for an entire year, you can get access to all of our national parks with that single pass. Otherwise you're looking at something like $30 per park per vehicle. It's called America the Beautiful Pass. Regarding our cities...most of them are currently in societal Decay right now. The political leaders that run them, the Mayors, the City Councils, and the District Attorneys (those responsible for prosecuting crimes) are actively destroying them with Soft on Crime policies. They're not even prosecuting shoplifting. You can just walk into a store, grab what you want, and leave. It's insane. CNN was actually doing an oncamera interview inside a San Francisco Walgreens and there were 3 shoplifters within 30 minutes while they were conducting the interview. And as a result of these policies, many stores are closing their branches and moving out of theses cities with such policies. Second problem is that the stores themselves are partially to blame themselves by not doing anything to stop the shoplifters. In fact, they'll fire employees who attemp to do so. Yeah, how insane is that? But come out to our pristine national and state parks and take it all in.
