I started watching your videos about a year ago. They convinced me to switch from Pantene to Redken. Come to find out, I don't have naturally oily hair. I can now go 4 to 5 days without shampooing. This really mattered when i decided to strip the 20 years of dark auburn color from my hair and lighten it to a strawberry blond. It's been an amazing journey.

After watching lots of your videos I just wanted to let you know how much they've helped me! I now wash my hair properly (always twice), before applying a mask and then conditioner last. I pat & press to dry my hair when I'm out the shower. Once the hair is 75% dry (air drying to get to this stage) I apply a leave-in conditioner spray before adding a single pump of hair oil to finish off. My hair feels so lovely, fresh, clean, and natural. Keep up the great videos!

I stopped putting my hair in a ponytail, shampoo roots only twice, conditioner on mids and ends only, just started leave in conditioner (first time) and the chunks of my hair are no longer coming out, my forehead doesn't seem as greasy, roots are not getting greasy even after 4 days, hair staying soft. It's amazing the results I am seeing and I just started this a week ago. I've been so concerned, that I was going to get a consultation. Even the patches on my scalp are completely gone. I am thrilled at what these changes have done for my hair and I am slowly adding your recommendations as money allows. Thank you for your tips!

@alyssaybanez1310 When this happened to me, I changed the shampoo and conditioner. My hair is reaaaally fragile, thin and also fine 😢 because of androgenous alopecia so I really doesn't do well with the products he recommends. I've tried not only professional shampoos but also stuff from the pharmacy (for example Vichy, which is over 80 eur per tiny bottle 😱) and it still made my hair super greasy. Now I used a super natural shampoo made with all natural ingredients made out of common nettle. And it's wonderful. My hair is soft, does what I want, it doesn't fall out and doesn't break anymore. I am not saying buy that, I am no expert. But I would suggest you try experimenting with what works for you. His techniques are wonderful and i love his videos, but for me personally every single product he recommends (and I spent 100's of eur trying them) are just way too strong for my poor puny hair. Good luck finding your perfect combo.

UPDATE ON THE CONDITION OF MY HAIR SINCE STARTING THE NEW PROCESS! Ok, I'm about 5 weeks in to this. I push my hair to see how long I can go from washing and I'm not overbrushing my hair. No ponytail. Only clip it. Using leave in conditioner. My hair has nearly stopped shedding. I'm telling you, this was so bad, literal CHUNKS of hair was coming out in my hands. I'm seeing much less hair coming out. Right now, I have the luxury to give my hair a break. It was either make a change or my fear was that I'd be bald. No joke. I had a rash on my scalp and I think buildup. It's all GONE and my scalp is FULLY HEALED. I am looking at other things I'm planning to change. One thing is my brushes. My plan is to upgrade them all. I just can't do it now. I need a really good cut. Feb 2, it will be 2 yrs since my hair was cut all over. Long story short. My plan is to get my hair healthier before I'm able to get it cut and it's allowing it to grow out. My daughter commented again last night how long my hair is getting. I'm even seeing more curl in my hair as a result of this. I'm nearly 63 and I've got hair like a 20 yr old. Some of it will lay in ringlets. Oh, I've cut down heat in a massive way. Thank you again for these videos. I'm sorry my comments are long, but you have saved my hair and I believe my hair may thicken up over time as a result of this. I really wanted to give an update because I'm thrilled and relieved. I've been stressing out over the hair issues because it was so bad. Not anymore. Thank you! ❤

There is an exception for clumping...wavy hair - you want clumps, my hair pattern is disturbed easily and as many of you know clumping is key to get those waves. This ofc is possible with many different shampoos and products, not talking about dirty hair...
@AuroraDragonDesigns
@AuroraDragonDesigns 29 күн бұрын
Agreed. This is also true for curly hair. If my curls don't clump, I have frizz. It is sometimes difficult to get the right amount of conditioner to the waves/curls you want without so much that it weighs your hair down or makes it prematurely dirty.

Please do a video for curly hair for those of us who want to keep our curls (not straighten them out). I almost never "blow out" my curly hair (even though I have a diffuser). Is using a diffuser better than letting your curls air dry (for waist length hair)? Do you have recommendations on products to "freshen" your curls on non-shampoo days? I use Pureology every day to get rid of tangles, but that turns my curls to waves.

I use the turbi twist thing for only less than 5 minutes. I leave it on long enough that my hair won't drip down my back while I'm drying my body, then it comes off. Never tightly wound. Matter of fact, most times I just use it to plop my hair until it no longer drips down my back (which is something I can't stand). Getting on with the moisture lock very soon after. I have wavy, silver hair which ends up super dry on the ends. The faster I can get my treatments on, the better my hair is. However, my hair is also very fine, so the leave in and oil (Ola plex was totally disappointing) tends to make my hair look greasy by the end of day 2. If I can, I let it sit through day 3, though I can't go anywhere without a ball cap. My hair is fickle and it is what it is. At least the routine I have now, though it only lasts 2 days, keeps my ends from being fried even though I use NO heat. Air dried only. No irons at all, ever.

You can still squeeze your hair dry with a microfiber turban or cloth, just don't try to sit in it for a long time or dry it in the towel or turban. I use the Fromm microfiber towels. He recommended them in a previous video, they're good and they are as good as the pricey Aquis ones I won't rebuy but would those. He showed that they use those towels briefly in the salon to squeeze dry and wrap briefly going sink to chair vs letting someone sit in one for a long time. I squeeze out the water on my hair as he's shown in videos. Since it's wet, while I'm getting dressed I wear a microfiber turban for a few minutes (5 or less, usually 2 or 3 minutes). The key is not just sitting there with it on for a long time letting your hair dry and shape in it. From my own hair, trying to turban-air dry longer, it was a lot harder to style and shape vs not wearing it longer.

I have one made of t-shirt material that I use to "plop" my curls - in other words, my hair is only on top of my head and is not in the twisted part of the turban. This is more comfortable than trying to use an old t-shirt for plopping my curls. He has never talked about how to take care of curly hair - specifically when you want to let your curly hair dry naturally. Until then, I have to watch other videos for more specific advice on caring for long curly hair (permed 😂 - my hair is naturally straighter than a board).

I thought to ask one of the lifeguards, or one of the team swimmers, but am *seriously considering just doing it, and seeing if it causes any noticeable issues. I've watched a lot of videos from you about dry wavy, grey hair that appeared after menopause. I've also asked a lot of questions and bought very expensive products that absolutely didn't work for me, including ... wait for it ... Olaplex. I have fine hair and a lot of it. Since menopause, it's gone not only more grey, but wavy. The ends have been horribly dry. I went with a few of your suggestions for expensive products and they're all crap for my hair. The best thing I've found is a standard L'Oréal Hyleron shampoo and conditioner with the accompanying leave in spray that can be used on wet or dry hair. It still wasn't totally what I needed because my ends were still a bit crunchy, so I thought out of the box and turned to the "black" hair section. I found a Jojoba oil (which is the closest oil to our natural oils) with a few natural extracts for less than $4 and used just like the 10x expensive Olaplex. Just a few drops on the ends. Works better than 20$ a bottle for both shampoo and conditioner, and works WAY better than the best Olapex for my hair. It took about a year to figure it out, so have patience, and don't write off store brands. That expensive stuff is mostly hype.

I tried most of his recommendations also (I have long curly fine hair), and I agree with you on the hair oil. The Oliplex is too light even though I have fine hair. Jojoba oil or grapeseed oil works. I’m 13 with very strong and healthy hair. I never really cared about it like that until recently (I didn’t neglect it or damage it a lot and never really used heat though). My mom was always really picky about shampoo and conditioner which I always thought was pointless but now I’m very grateful. I have had great hair my whole life on accident.

Can you make a video on techniques for air drying/no heat drying and how often it's okay to do it? I know blow drying is best but the process is exhausting with my chronic health issues. I've been considering cutting my hair super short again because it's so hard to keep my long hair looking decent. It's fine and thin in some parts so I have to wash it twice a week and I dread hair wash day.

Recently heard about the two wash thing, I clarify focusing on the back of my head then shampoo (either scalp or haircare) focusing on the top of the head. But there were a few things in this video I disagree with I use a hair turban for up to 20 minutes after a wash. However on a warm day I have a much lighter hair turban I will switch to for air drying, they're also good for lifting roots Colour does matter when choosing a shampoo. Some shampoos do make my blonde hair look dark due to certain (natural) ingredients. And some shampoos are better at boosting the tone on darker hair Clumping happens. Especially if you have curly hair, that what it does My hair manages better when its also slightly greasy. Call it wrong choice of products or tools, but my hairdresser will actively apply products to make my hair more slick and manageable and prevent frizz (although this may be unavoidable as other products would dry out my skin too much as I have sensitive skin, so I need highly moisturising products)

But I guess that you have to be careful nut to get a fake product. In my case I believe my first order of conditioner was a fake. I haven’t used conditioner for almost 20 years because it was weighing down my hair. and the fake one brought some improvement. So I thought ok it’s doing great. However when I bought a bigger bottle from a salon supplier I realised a big, big difference. Much more smooth now and shiny.

He did some videos before with each category. You can find them in the older videos. I'll list below what he said, you can find the videos if you look and should watch them for the details and comparisons. Hair dryer was the Harry Josh (Have this, and it's great, well worth it for frizz. Better than my previous T3 or Elchim.) Blow dry brush was the Amika (He reviewed several of them and you might want to look at the video, that was the favorite, others were good. I've tried the Amika, Revlon, older T3 that was in the video and different than the non-ionic one they make now and for me the T3 did better due to the round shape vs rectangular Amika). Curling iron and wands were the Babyliss Pro Nano Titanium (Have these, better than my old L'ange ones.) Flat iron was the Babyliss Pro Nano Titanium (Have this, better than my old GHD.)

One of the big issues with cheap hairdryers is that the heat isn’t distributed evenly or consistently. So it will be over hot in one section and cooler in another, and it dries and damages parts of the hair while another part is not dried yet, taking longer and causing more drying and overheat damage to get it all finally dried. Expensive dryers are even flowing and don’t over blow, while drying much faster so you’re not over exposing hair to heat damage for way too long. With my normal $40 dryer it takes about 20 mins to dry/ style all my hair completely, with my Dyson it’s about 7 mins and it isn’t frizzy at all, and the style lasts for more days without touch ups.

If you have genetically fine and thin hair nothing will give you lion fur (i am the one with fine and thinning hair). My tips: 1. I use once a week a good clarifying or antifungal shampoo (something with AHA, BHA, some sort of Nizoral these take of all the build from my scalp (it gives me volume and potentially it has a slight anti thinning effect). I wash my hair every other day, this keeps my scalp clean and i dont have so much scalp pain. 2. Dont use super duper moisturizing masks or conditioners, it leaves my hair flat. 3. When i have events or i want to feel myself extra i use texturizers (i like Oribe, bought the living proof one, dont know how it works yet ) 4. I have bad blood flow around my neck and head need-massages 5. I try to take supplements (vit D, iron, magnesium) and eat as much protein as i can, protein is the blocks for our hair, collagen is a protein too (i want to start to take it) . 6. Being gentle with my hair, no curling irons or flat iron (i just use my Dyson and the round brush to round the ends and give some volume to the roots). Heat protection! Also i brush it from the ends.

I just have to say thank you for the advice! It’s been about a year following your recommendations for fine hair…. I have actually had people stop me in public and ask what hair products I use. 😱 And fear not! I recommended your KZbin acct. 🎉 I did start using a revlon barrel dryer about 3 months ago (and it was after that that I started getting compliments). I clip most of my hair up and work on the bottom layer on the low setting. Then I drop down the middle and then the last top bit. It does look like I just walked out of a salon. Everyday. Even on days that aren’t wash day! Mostly bc of the bonding shampoo/conditioner and leave in conditioner…. But since high school ended I’ve been an air dry girl… The barrel dryer not only made it easy to do but I can have everything done in 5-7 minutes (on low). So for the first time in 15 years I’m styling my hair. That wouldn’t matter if it wasn’t healthy though! Thanks again!

As someone with a show standard poodle, I couldn't imagine taking a break from blow drying, or air-drying then blow drying. I have to dry my poodle with a force dryer WITHOUT heat for 3 hours to get him completely dry. I use a spray bottle to drench his hair on his legs, head, and other places. If they start drying, it won't get as straight. It has to be completely dried with the force dryer. I do his jacket first, then his topknot, his tail, his rosettes, then his bracelets last. If it's drenched wet when I start, it won't get straight at all. Also, I honestly believe the best extensions are glue in extensions. They use a specific type of glue that comes out with conditioner, you can do it yourself or get someone to help you. If it doesn't turn out good then you can jump into the shower, get it wet, smear conditioner on each weft and massage it in, proceed with the rest of your shower, then take them out at the end, they slide right out. You can wash your hair with them in too. They last 4-6 weeks depending on growth. I like them because they take 30 minutes to put in, they are cheap, you can do it yourself, and you can take them out as you shower. If you want long hair for a day, you can with glue ins! I spent 13 dollars on weave and glue today, the weave is 24 inches and it looks amazing. It's synthetic of course, I don't like real human hair, it's not ethically sourced and I don't want to contribute to that. It matches my natural hair perfectly. I've talked to people that have had wigs, sew ins, and all kinds of extensions. They all agree that glue in is the best. I know a few people that used to get weave done professionally every month for 500 damn dollars. I told them about glue ins and they tried it. They do it themselves now and they love it. Everyone agrees that it is a hell of a lot better, cheaper, and better for your hair. It doesn't cause any damage unless someone yanks them out of course. The glue doesn't rip out your hair in the shower either. It slips right out with a lot of conditioner. You can reuse the hair until it looks bad.

Having had a T3, Elchim (which is my second favorite, also ionic, made in Italy) and used Revlon, Shark, Dyson-I did find the Ionic feature (for frizz smoothness) was stronger on the Harry Josh and I could see a difference in the frizz especially on the root area and crown of my head. Even if I didn't use a brush and just blow dried without a brush I got a smoother result with the Harry Josh (Elchim close second). I think frizzy haired folks will see the difference the most.

I was the pre-Leslie, blowdrying and flat ironing every day and my hair is so damaged. But I AM ALL IN and you know what you’re talking about. I am SO grateful you came across my feed. Thank you 🎉❤

What about the pureology hair fanatic spray? Is that sufficient heat protectant if you blow dry your hair? Thank you! Love your channel!

No, you still need a separate heat protectant.

I use the Pureology spray and the cream when I blow out my hair with that Revlon brush.

@@EverythingAndNothing08 Yes, use one of the blow out balms, Redken Big Blowout (fine, medium hair) or Redken Frizz Dismiss (coarse hair). He's recommended both (one or the other).

Oh my..I just realized why my bangs and the top of my head simply does not look as healthy as the rest of my hair! Talk about your light blub moment. I only dry and straighten my bangs with a hot curling brush, THEN touch up whenever the mood hits with my hair DRY. I never thought of wetting my hair beforehand..wow! I have been following all your tips and changed me entire hair game (which my curly hair LOVES). Now I know to spritz my bangs when they look frazzled. Also going to get some Redken BBO. You are a Godsend! Thank you SO much for your real, unbias advice.
