I've been a Tyson fan for many years and he definitely was one of the most dominant champions. However; what most people fail to realize is that the killer version of Mike Tyson who was ferocious and dominant had only lasted during the 1st 4-5 years of his 20 + years career. One major factor was that 95% of his opponents didn't come to fight but to survive. During that time, Tyson did not sustain any significant damage or injuries. The 5 years he spent in prison allowed his body to rest and recuperate while other active boxers were accumulating more and more physical damage. Those who claim that Tyson was past his prime during his fight with Holyfield clearly do not understand the sport. Becoming the youngest, most dominant champion a such a young age made him overly confident and unmotivated to train like he used to.

Cus D’Amato created a boxer plucked off the rough streets of Brooklyn that will be talked about for years. Okay, I haven't seen anyone mention how he straight up pummeled a giant of a man who was high on pcp. Angel dust can make people go insane or irrational, being able to withstand enormous amounts of pain and keep going with ease, since the adrenaline and effects are so powerful. People have been tased, shot, stabbed, attacked by dogs, and still kept going. The fact that the pure skill and might of Tyson was enough to bring down someone who was much taller than him while they were also high on pcp is honestly astonishing.

Mike Tyson was incredibly skilled in every facet of the game. People don’t understand the insane amount of time he spent drilling footwork and watching film. He was a well oiled machine of boxing destruction. Mike Tyson-for a certain amount of time -was the perfect combination of natural punching power-unparalleled commitment to training-and focused homicidal rage. There has never been someone so dangerous in a boxing ring. Dude went the distance with a prime Mike. If you knew the absolutely supernatural aura that surrounded Mike in that era, you know what that means. If not, it's impossible to explain. The shock wasn't that Douglas beat him, the shock was that anyone could beat him -- it seemed utterly unfathomable -- Mike was just so many levels above everyone else.

Nah,it wasn't a prime Mike,Cus DeMarto had just died, Mike was now with Don King,he didn't train for that fight,he thought he would walk it and he came unstuck. If his man Cus hadn't died then he would have trained him properly for the fight and wouldn't have let the fame and money go to his head like it did when he was with Don King. Cus Demarto kept him humble and a real fighter, with Don King came the razmataz, the money, the girls, the party's ,he stopped training hard, believing he could still win without putting the effort in. Cus Demarto was just like Micky from Rocky films lol grizzly old white dude 😆 Edit... I've been reliability informed that Cus hadn't just died,( I got that wrong) BUT my point still stands,Mike was now in the Don King camp, with the money, the girls, the massive entourage, he just started believing his own hype, thinking he was invincible without having to train. Cus kept him grounded, would have worked him harder, kept him away from all the bloodsuckers like Don King. He didn't go round kissing his arse telling him he's the greatest, all you have to do is turn up and you've won etc etc Cus made Mike through hard work,an ethic that got lost once he was with King,if Cus hadn't died Mike would never have lost that fight,as we would have seen a much more focused fighter, who trained harder and wanted it more
