Brilliant results! I didn’t know about the silicone and softer rubbers. Eek! I think it’s time to invest in some lithium grease instead. Many thanks again, looking forward to the next video on Blu! Cheers Nick.

Rub some graphite dust/filings on the grippy bits of the lock tabs. They come off dead easy next time. Nice trick with the door seal, don't you just love innovative thinking! Rob

I prefer using some of the heavy silicone oil spray that paintballers use on their pistol bores instead of white lithium grease spray. It's clear, water resistant and very slippery. A good overview of Back To Black (B2B) from one of the forums: "Not all silicones are bad for rubber, plastic, vinyl, etc. There are over 30,000 formulations, some great and some not so much. I would not assume that it is bad for your car. Mothers B2B is white and creamy, and goes on clear. It's plenty safe for exterior trim like cladding, bumpers, luggage racks, running boards, etc. For best performance apply a coat, let it set for a few minutes, buff it with a clean towel, then apply a second coat. B2B has no dyes or coloring agents in it so it will not stain or alter the color of your trim. Think of B2B as a plastic restorer with a light cleaning ability".

Thanks Gary. I don't think we get any of the 'Mothers' products in the UK. I will check🤔

I have an 08 Vanden Plas. The plastic trim piece you removed to remove the rubber seal you repositioned is scratched and would like to match the color. My colors are Indigo blue and same interior color. Do you know color name of that piece and who sells it?
@ToTheGarage3 жыл бұрын
Hi Bill I know my interior leather colour is certainly Barley. I think the trim piece you refer to may be called Mocha. But that is just a half remembered fact, Maybe one of our fellow subscribers can step in to confirm the colour and suggest a supplier. Autoreserve is always a good place to look for good condition used Jag parts

Another fantastic, informative and original video John. Just one minor criticism, where was your usual cheery signature ident, ‘Hello, John here’? Missed it 😢
