I definitely feel you on the sticker shock on a lot of releases nowadays. And yes the quality control also isn't the best. But there's still a fair amount of good with all of the bad. So I keep supporting physical media despite some releases either not coming out or being subpar. Nice job with the rant though. Quality control being so bad and below average is really annoying. And so is announcing titles that don't actually come out. And it's not technically Scream factory's fault that Leviathan went OOP. They had a deal with MGM for a certain length of time. Once the time runs out? It's OOP. It's a part of licensing agreements. Also, the Hard Target 4K does not look just like the blu ray. I highly disagree with that. But that's just me.

I agree that it's a bad idea to announce a release if they don't actually have the rights to release the film.

Shout Factory have precedent for this ; about two or three years ago they announced they were releasing Tattoo with Bruce Dern and Maud Adams on Blu-ray, but after a few months of general anticipation, they admitted they didn't have the necessary materials to do a brand new transfer, so they canceled the release... Which ended up creating the impression that Shout canceled it, because the film itself is seen as "problematic" nowdays. I honestly don't think that was the case, but it was a narrative that Shout ended up creating by accident and as a result, it might end up putting off other companies from tracking down the elements and doing a release themselves.

I didn't even know about Kino Lorber until I saw another reviewer talk about them a few weeks ago. Bought Black Moon Rising right after lol

What about Criterion Collection or Novamedia ? Are they actually good ?
@James.Sunderland Жыл бұрын
I rarely buy any new stuff. In the past like year, I've only bought Texas Chainsaw 2 from VS and I recently picked up the NEW After Hours Criterion release. Two of my favorite movies, hench why I bought them.

Hi Matt, I understand your frustration! Hard Target just got a 4k release here and because I'm a big fan of Van Damme and Hard Target I couldn't control myself and picked up the collectors edition, The presentation is nice and all with the poster, lobby cards steelbook and so on. But the 4k itself offers nothing more than the blu ray version and is just an extremely lazy release! Where's the cleaned up workprint? Now that would have been great addition but no. I too will be watching your fan cut!!

Thank you. So did you download the fan cut I made? or do you need a link?
@brianbear8421 Жыл бұрын
@@ramboraph4life Hi, Yes I already downloaded your cut, Thank You! Also another thing I just realised about the new 4K release here worth noting is it doesn't have the extra features from the American release! Instead the bonus second disc is a copy of Hard target 2 lol.

I get what you mean. I’m getting sick and tired of this crap too. Not every movie needs a 4k release. I’m tired of constant price increases. For example vinegar syndrome started out at $25 then a price increase to $27 then couple months later another price increase for regular blu rays with slipcovers to $30. I’m also fed up with scream factory and their annoying website exclusive barebones $30 blu rays. And don’t get me started with their website exclusive slipcovers and you have to get the poster in the bundle you have no choice! I know this isn’t the boutique labels fault because it’s just how the world works but I’m very disappointed now every time I order directly from places like vinegar syndrome, severin, and shout factory I have to pay sales tax. It pretty much makes all the sales they have now pointless. It’s very hard to enjoy being a collector sometimes. Can we just go back to the days when blu rays were $20-$25 bucks. I’m sorry but $30 is too much and where I draw the line. Can we please get true lies on blu ray already! Can I please get the movies I like from Netflix on blu ray already! And I’ll say it again one more time, NOT EVERY MOVIE NEEDS A 4K RELEASE! Rant over sorry

Sorry I had to come back to this video to vent about vinegar syndrome because they’re really testing my patience with these subscriber weeks. I literally just bought 2 things from them during their last sale for $20 and $22 and now they’re $14. Such a scummy thing to do. I swear these companies like to piss me off. Ughhhh

I got Jetsons: The Movie on Blu Ray from Kino Lorber, and the only complaint I got, is that the picture is dark at certain scene.
