@@kermitsghost we actually had an HMV store in the mid 1990s here in Atlanta. At the time I was not buying movies, but I would go into the city to get imported music there (at that time mostly Britpop.) They all closed down here about 20 years ago. It would be a good time to come back since all their competition at the time (there was a huge Tower Records a block over) are also gone.

Biggest release this week, quite literally, would be Volume 3 of the always essential Shawscope sets which will not only hurt my wallet but cause my OCD to flare up deciding how and where to put the bloody thing on the shelf! Other than that it’s Vincent Price’s Cooking Show which is not only #50 in the equally essential and, in my eyes, utterly stupendous BFI Flipside range. Watched the first 4 episodes this evening alongside some of the extras and its truly delightful viewing with Price on fine form and a welcome lack of polish that fans of Gordon Ramsey or Nigella may wince at (Out of focus camera angles, forgotten lines, a kitsch Seventies kitchen with to little counter space and a bizarre bongo styled theme tune) but for fans of Price as well as cult curios it truly is a delight to watch alongside all manner of contextual extras including plenty of short films (How To Cook A Cabbage and a decidedly unsettling guide to serving tea with a male presenter sporting the kind of eyebrows and gaze usually found in nightmares … trust me, you’ll never see tea in the same light again!) But that’s just the tip of a mighty Blu iceberg as my multiple preorders are all arriving at once so there’s the utterly bewitching Vol 2 of All The Haunts Be Ours from Severin to scratch my folk horror itch (The recent Starve Acre from BFI comes highly recommended btw with Matt Smith and Morfyyd Clarke in a fantastically unsettling adaptation of Andrew Michael Harley’s book … the book also comes recommended) Then I’ve got 2 volumes of Ozploitation rarities from Umbrella along with their Full Moon Fright Box that pairs Dollman with Demonic Toys for some cheesy B movie mayhem and a total of FIVE versions of Caligula including the recent Ultimate Cut so plenty of bloodshed, wanton nudity and the music from The Apprentice to entertain there! There’s also The Neverending Story from Imprint who I know you champion (The cap is a big clue) so I don’t know if you’ll be lucky to get a freebie but at the price it’s going for I imagine they’ll want to sell every copy! All in all a nice bumper bundle to hopefully get me through the Winter months and get me settled into my new flat. I’ve been here just over 5 months now but as I was at my old address for 49-50 years it’s still all new to me but fingers crossed for a calmer 2025 after 2 1/2 years of utter shit that’s left me living alone after losing my dear brother and Mum within 8 months before being unceremoniously kicked out of my old home by an uncaring council … … but that’s enough blathering for now and certainly enough ranting as I’m just too tired now and longing for some time to try and process everything and hopefully find some degree of a future. Sorry for the overlong comment but it’s always good to share whether it’s life experience or good old movies. Hope all is well with you and you have a relaxing Xmas. Oh, and did you watch Kinds of Kindness in the end? I know you loved Pretty Things as did I but this one is definitely worth a watch as well, as are all Lanthimos’ films, and though it’s not for everyone it’s definitely one of the more memorable films I’ve watched recently.
@kermitsghost18 күн бұрын
Hi Sam, it’s a shame I couldn’t show the Shawscope Volume 3 set, HMV didn’t have a copy in store, I believe it’s restricted to their website only. Hope you find a suitable space for it mate 🧐 Gotta say you have sold the idea of the Vincent Price cooking show to me 🤔 agreed, there are a lot of titles that have peaked my interest too, Starve Acres being one of them. I enjoy a golf horror if done well. I’ve not watched Caligula since a young impressionable age and wasn’t aware it had so many different cuts to the film 😮 I was offered a copy of Never Ending Story to review but declined as I don’t own a 4K player (I know I could have blagged a review and sold my copy on but that’s not something I would do) If Imprint Films are nice enough to send my copies to show on my channel, then I take the time to do a proper presentation and then I keep the product rather than make any money by selling it on. Wow moving to a new address after five decades at the same house must have been such an upheaval Sam. I do not envy you at all. So sorry for your loss as well. If that wasn’t incredibly painful enough for you, what the council did was deplorable…. your council should hang their head in shame. You never have to apologise for leaving a long comment on here, mate, feel free to offload what’s on your mind, whenever you need to. I appreciate the festive well wishes Sam and I wish the same to you. No unfortunately I haven’t seen Kinds Of Kindness, that just doesn’t seem to be enough hours in the day to keep up with everything (and run a KZbin channel). Take good care of yourself Sam and enjoy the rest of your week, take care mate.👍😃👍

I can't remember what kiddie film came out at the same time as End Of Days, but when i saw it on release, a family came in with their little ones and took their seats just in time for the reveal of the priest hanging from the ceiling in the hospital. They clearly had turned left instead of right, and promptly got their kiddies up and left! :D

Definitely Tuesday for releases in the US. I think Europe _tends_ to be end of the week, but it doesn'r appear to be as regimented. You may also be interested, given you're asking about staggering them, I did hear a while ago that the BIG studios in the US were actually going to release every other Tuesday (same Tuesday for all studios) to minimise transport costs to warehouses from the production plants (all in Mexico now I believe) as they production plant, which produces discs for multiple studios, could do one journey with everyone's discs less often. I must say I haven't actually _noticed_ this happening though, but I haven't been looking. Maybe HMV have decided they'll attract people to stores for 'impulse purchases' with the 20% Off that they must be aware lots of collectors are getting on every online order... Waiting for my *Black Cat 2* to come with the post (as promised)... I have *Black Cat* and intend to watch as a 'double bill'... watched the trailer for the latter and it looks utterly bonkers, combining those explosions that throw people 25 feet but they get up again, 'James Bond style' ski chases and Kung fu 'wire work' as the protagonist 'leaps' superhuman distances! The release has been delayed twice and I can't wait to finally get hold of it. I _have_ to get _Vincent Price_ doing a cookery show but don't feel this is the right time to be spending on frivolities... *Dark Winds* sounds interesting, thanks for another for my list! _Lisa Loves_ gave out a lot of information on *Kneecap* in her _September 24th What I Watched_ catchup; being more aware of the background and present situation than most of us. The movie didn't sound like something I'd enjoy but Lisa has a unique perspective and speaks very knowledgably about the attempted bans by politicians and controversy and potential tensions it has caused in Northern Ireland (she won't tell some of her neighbours she's even seen it). Worth checking out, even if you don't watch Lisa's great channel regularly. I would like *Wallace and Gromit* upgraded to 4K but I think it's a shame *Curse of the Were-Rabbit* is missing, though this seems to be the usual case so I suspect different rights? *Generation Z* and *Red Eye* are already on my Wishlist; the former sounds very silly and a horror I would be perfectly fine with and laugh. Awwww, I loved *The Wombles* - much better when they were on the regular run of those to end childrens TV for the day than *Noah and Nelly* or the indecipherable *Ludwig*... though that's obviously not the same as the brilliant new comedy detective drama of the same name. Lots of horror considering October has passed... The only thing I know about *Chip and Dale* apart from them being chipmunks is that I had to remember we were in the 'Chip' carpark and *Disneyland* in Florida for getting off the shuttle service! As usual, a great video that adds to my Wishlist; stay well 👍😀
@kermitsghost18 күн бұрын
Hi Justin, thanks for confirming the Tuesday release day in America 👍 ooh that would be strange, having a release day every other week 🤔 it would cut down the struggle of putting out a video every week 🧐 I think that’s my issue with Asian martial Arts films (Black Cat 2) when they use wire work and people jumping twenty feet while fighting mid air…I just can’t swallow it 🙄 I’ve heard the Vincent Price Cooking video is a must have…. And it does sound insane. Yeah, whist I was reading up about Dark Winds, I convinced myself to get it too 🤣 I’m sure that The Curse Of The Were-Rabbit will get a separate 4K release, I think it was done by a different studio (but I could be completely wrong) I picked up Red Eye (It will feature next week) and I would like to grab Generation Z too 😬 dang this is an expensive hobby 🤑 yeah I noticed there was a lot of Horror titles out this week, I guess there are a lot of horror fans that don’t care what the month is 🤔 haha that’s a good memory, I remember parking in The Universal Studios car park in the Jaws section 🤣 cheers Justin, take care mate👍😃👍
