This time of year I find the crabs between eight and fifteen ft. I try to set my traps along a drop off. Mainly only crab in the bayous off the main bay. For a bayou to be productive this time of year it needs a creek channel running into it that has at least fifteen ft. of depth. All shallow bayous are passed up. Glad to see you still working them, Sweetest tasting as they fatten up for the Winter.
@TheOldCoupleOutdoors9 ай бұрын
In that area there isn't more than 6 feet of water for miles but there's some big meat crab there if you get on them. I was talking to another crabber and he told me he was doing better in shallower water so I decided to try it. In the river I set our traps in 16 to 18 feet for the largest crabs. Thanks for Watching our videos

Now I'm not saying what depth is best but I've caught more crab in 15 to 20 ft. Unless of cause someone robs the trap. At least you got enough for dinner. Love the video.
@TheOldCoupleOutdoors9 ай бұрын
We do best in 17 to 18 ft. But in that area the water averages about 6 ft, another crabber told me he was doing better in a lot shallower water so I figured it wouldn't hurt to try. The one good thing is the crabs in that area run between 6 and 7 inches and they're full of meat. Thanks for Watching our videos
