Blue Flame vs Red Flame: Best One for You

I have a 30kbtu radiant heater in my house. Its only 1400 sqft and on a 35°F it will keep the house at 69 70 on lowest setting. It does heat the air along with the radiant heat. It was well worth the money in place of the worthless vented fireplace we had. Our inducer fan on the furnace went out before Xmas and had to use it to heat the house alone for a week before I got a new motor and it did just fine when it was around 0 outside.

Is there a difference in the amount of natural or propane gas they use? Which one is more economical as far as gas usage?

As far as heating the shop, though. 30k BTU is 30k right? so the radiant one will heat you fast and still heat the air the same, right?

I don't think there is, or at least I've never noticed a large difference. To me they both have a slight oder just from the flame burning the gas.

Radiant al the way.We just finished comparing two heaters that look exactly the same , same brand , same size, etc. The only difference is the burners ..I'm here to tell you ,the blue flame heater couldn't hold a candle to the radiant heater .👍Now we just gotta figure a reason to explain to the store why we want to exchange the lousy blue flame heater for another radiant heater like we just bought two days ago and exchanged it for this lousy blue flame heater 🤨 I researched for hours and everything I read said blue flame was better than radiant. I'm here to tell you ,If you wanna be warm use a radiant heater..They heat a house faster and more efficiently than a blue flame heater.👍

Hi Tonya! Thank you! For a basement I would recommend a blue flame since it is less likely to catch something on fire if it gets stacked too close to it. If the basement has a drafty door to the outside then you might want the red flame but usually I would say blue flame. Just make sure it is rated for the size of your basement, where they usually list the sq ft they can heat on the box. Thanks for asking!

It will put off humidity with natural gas
