These heaters are fantastic. I installed one in each major room and the 1870s house is warm throughout the Ohio winter. Plus I spend about 1500.00 a year in propane. Trying to heat an entire house is stupid unless its small 900 sq ft say, multiple rooms up and down stairs, basement very costly. I use four and keep the igniter section clean, problem free.

We have one and love it... Our chance sent out on us just before we were heading south and had no time to deal with it. We just decided to get a on the wall heater for our RV and we use it all the time even while in Mexico for the winter just to take the chill out first thing in the morning. We got the basic one but probably down the road will get the fan a added, which I would recommend but for us it's not a issue. However, I would recommend getting a propane detector....We had 2 leaks, one we figured was not tighting up the fitting enough of the heater but took awhile to find the other...which was our hotwater heater and it took a bit before it went off so don't give up to soon if you think it's a leak. Anyway, did I say we love our Mr Heater it's like having a fireplace in our trailer...romantic. 😀

@@JoseCardenas-tv6vv NOPE NONE! Our house has used NG for over 76 years since my grandparents and great grand parents used to live here. They all lived to over 95 years of age with no ill effects. Just make sure you vacuum clean the the pilot hole and the tube leading into it before every season. Dust collects in the holes and the gas burner holes and sometimes partially clogs them. If you get an orange flame then the furnace burners or pilot is clogged. A constant BLUE flame is what you want. Orange or white is a dirty burn, this happens when it sits dormant in the summer and just collects dust. There are videos here on youtube on how to do it.kzbin.info/www/bejne/bJ3KqoR5ZahgeKM

I own the natural gas version of this heater, as of a few weeks ago. It's worked just great so far, no complaints at all. It's my first natural gas fireplace. Anyway, tonight at home, I just so happened to notice a small "ring" that seems to have formed on the black wall of the inner firebox, basically the backdrop of the blue flame. It wasn't there before & I'm just wondering if that's just natural wear & tear from running the flame on a daily basis. The unit isn't overused or anything, it doesn't run overnight, nor during the day when I'm away at the office. There's seemingly no functional issue whatsoever, outside of me noticing this small ring on the black inner wall behind the flame that, which wasn't previously there. Just wondering if this is normal. Hope this is not too rookie a question. Insight would be appreciated.
@TheProjectHelpDesk Жыл бұрын
We haven't used our Blue Flame heater long enough to notice this, but our gas logs in the main part of the house have also developed what sounds like the same thing you are seeing. Our gas logs have a similar design of an angled metal plate behind the flames. In our case, it is a white ashy looking arc but isn't ash. Just the dark metal turning a lighter color over the last 4+ years that we have used it. We use ours a few hours a day during the winter. So I don't think it is something to be concerned about. That being said, I am also not an expert. So a professional opinion is always advised.

Thanks for the reply! I just turned mine off for the night as I head upstairs for bed. But this gave me a chance to check out this "ring" up close without the flame in the way. Dumb question here: What does a "pressure regulator" actually do, as opposed to NOT using a pressure regulator on a hose (along with the pressure level gauge indicator?) ~~Can you just use the 12 ft. hose, with only the pressure level gauge indicator and not use a "pressure regulator" on the hose?
@TheProjectHelpDesk2 жыл бұрын
Not a dumb question at all. Short answer: A pressure regulator is absolutely required. Long answer: While the heater itself does have a built in pressure regulator, this regulator is only part of and related to the pilot light assembly. It essentially lowers the incoming regulated pressure even further in order to properly supply gas to the pilot light. The easiest analogy I can think of is a gas stove. The control knob essentially works like a pressure regulator to ensure that a small exact amount of gas comes out. Without this, the flame would only go on high at all times. The pressure from your propane tank is ever changing. Especially during hot and cold weather. The regulator ensures that the gas going to the appliance is at a constant and steady stream and amount. Without the regulator you can have leaks or malfunctions in the components and the size of the flames would be way higher than expected. So having a pressure regulator between a tank and an appliance is definitely essential and required.
@cathyb47962 жыл бұрын
@@TheProjectHelpDesk As I view people on social media demonstrate using "Mr. Heater Buddy"~~ I am not seeing the ""pressure regulator" attached to their hoses to the 15lb - 20lb. propane tanks. That is what is confusing to me. I see the accessory "FILTER" attached to their "Mr. Heater Buddy" but not a "Pressure Regulator" anywhere on their 12 ft. hose, leading to their propane tanks. That is why I questioned if a "pressure regulator" accessory was actually necessary to use with a "Mr. Heater Buddy" and the larger propane tank. Thank you for your response. I appreciated your explanation.
@TheProjectHelpDesk2 жыл бұрын
@@cathyb4796 So the 'Buddy' heaters are different from the 30K heaters from what I have seen. I THINK those do actually have built in regulators. From a quick google: "The buddy system has the regulator located at the heater. In this setup you cannot have a regulator at the propane tank due to over-regulating the gas supply. This makes the gas that passes through the hose to get to the buddy system high pressure." www.etrailer.com/question-581771.html

Does the product come with all necessary parts to hook it up to a propane tank?
@TheProjectHelpDesk2 жыл бұрын
No it does not. It is intended to be hard plumbed into an existing gas line. And because of the myriad of different systems that can be encountered, they do not provide any of the plumbing connections. We purchased the 90 degree fitting and hose separately just to verify functionality and to use it temporarily until I can get around to permanently connecting it to my existing propane line. This is not an intended install and should be considered dangerous unless the tank is sitting outside of the building. But you will need to purchase all the fittings and pipes and hoses that you need.

How long does it take to start it
@TheProjectHelpDesk Жыл бұрын
In our case, using a hose and disconnecting the tank so the line purges itself each time, it actually takes a while to get all the air out. I didn't time it but it could have taken 5 plus minutes. Holding the valve down in starting position only lets a very small amount of gas through. So it takes a while. As long as the gas stays in the line under pressure then it is quick. But yes, it does take a long time to purge all the air out.

I noticed you never put tape on the lp hose cconnected to the flare fitting, did it not leak?
@TheProjectHelpDesk2 жыл бұрын
I always go with the caveat of I am not a trained professional. when in doubt, consult your local codes and a licensed professional. But in general, flare fittings are specifically designed to self seal with the metal to metal connection. If you ever encounter a leak here, then the fitting itself needs to be redone or possibly replaced in my opinion. Using both the liquid and digital leak detector I did not have any detectable leaks. That being said, this was a temporary connection to a LP cylinder for testing purposes. If and when I connect this permanently to the house plumbing then I likely would add a little tape to the threads only. As long as it stays away from the mating surfaces it shouldn't cause any issues. So a case of shouldn't be needed but never hurts to add if done properly.

Why does my heater keeps shutting off?
@TheProjectHelpDesk2 жыл бұрын
Could be a number of things. One of them could be worrisome. The heater does have a sensor that detects low O2. That will cut the unit off completely. A failing valve or pressure regulator could also cause it. The heat sensor that cuts the unit off if the flame goes out could also fail and cause this. There are probably more things that I am not thinking of also.

None at all so far. In fact, since it burns with a cleaner bluer flame, it has less smell overall than even our gas logs. Not as pretty naturally. :) In my current setup, if I step on the rubber hose or move the tank around, I can see the flames briefly start turning more orange which is a dirtier burn and would likely smell similar to our gas logs. But it quickly turns back into the pure blue flame after about 30 seconds. The only issues I have had with egg smell relate to connecting and disconnecting the hose from the tank. I have never noticed it during the running of the heater itself.
