Blue Monday - Orgy cover version guitar cover

Love Orgy’s cover of blue Monday so had to do this!

Tonight I learned two things: (1) there is such thing as a 7-string electric guitar, and (2) you sir, are an absolute beast on it. You grabbed chords I never even heard of, and your fingering borders on automatic. The noises coming out of that thing were crazy in a manner that evokes the original's synth while at the same time sounding like Orgy's. In short, this is a masterful interpretation of my all-time favorite '80s song. Rock on, you mighty god of the thundering, seven-throated axe!

What tuning are you in?

Okay so I believe it’s: G# D# G# C# F# A# D# and I also use an octave pedal adding a dropped octave to the mix in some areas too to add bass punch. Orgy actually play in A# D# G# C# F# A# D# if I remember correctly, but I like to drop the thickest string by two semitones and alter fret positioning accordingly.

If I remember correctly, it was the dark sun delay/reverb pedal with a very quick delay repeat setting so as to get that eerie tone, and the neck pickup for the slightly more fuzzy sound. I think I also had a second delay pedal set up for other parts of the song too. I also used a Digitech drop to do a lower octave of the chorus at the same time as the standard tuning sound for more oomph!
