Fun fact. The singer Björn Skifs is huge in Sweden. After that song he was about to start a career in the US, but when he was asked to fix his teeth he said no and went home to continue his career in Sweden. We have other artists that has done the same, when asked to loose weight etc. they just have said no and went home. 🙂

I've been loving this song since 1974. Björn Skifs is still going strongt, at 70+. A favourite singer who has won the Swedish Contest for participation in Eurovision. He's also a good comic actor,has made several movies and musicals.Was invited to sing in the church at the wedding of our crown princess.

Actually, this song was originally done by BJ Thomas in the late 60's, around 1968, if I remember correctly. But I like this version of Blue Swede a lot more.

Fun to see old swedish artist. Björn skifs, the singer of this group did a summer tour and i transported the stage and also worked backstage. He did the tour together with a talented singer who now works a lot in Nashville, Jill Johnson, she has a very good voice.

Björn Skifs has been very popular in Sweden for more than 50 years… Hooked on a Feeling was a cover of an Australian song that in his version became a huge worldwide hit. It took them by surprise though, he and his group, Blå Blus (they renamed them for the international market, thus Blue Swede) were already booked in Sweden for the entire summer. By the time they came to the US it was too late to really take advantage of, and they never managed to follow up on it and get another global hit. Still hugely popular back in Sweden though. And you can see him perform The Arbiter in the original version of Björn and Benny’s musical Chess.

This is hysterical. Bjorn Skifs is loved here by anyone over 50. I remember it so vividly when my dad used to tease my older sister that she was inlove with Bjorn(she wasn't, but also she was 9) and I clapped my hands hysterically like small kids do..apparently and this brought up lots of nice memories. I was a huge fan of Ally McBeal also.

I don't know where the "ooka chaka" came from, Scandinavian pop artists from that era were pretty weird (taken to the extreme, listen to "Hocus Pokus" from Focus, if you haven't already. it's awesome), but the vocal style is pure Tom Jones, practically an impersonation. And definitely an homage to one of the biggest pop stars of the generation. Go find yourself some Tom Jones to react to, you won't be disappointed.

Fun fact, he was calling himself Blue Sweden when released in USA but in Sweden he has always used his real name Björn Skifs, never Blue Swede 🙂

Well it was the GROUP that was called "Blue Swede" (in US and then with Björn as singer) and in swedish "Blåblues" with ofcourse the singer Björn Skifs (for their 2 first albums) and it was released in swedish as "Björn Skifs & Blåblus" and in US as "Blue Swede"..Don't mix up the artist Björn Skifs with the band "Blue Swede" ("Blåblus") 🙂..and "Björn Skifs & Blåblus" released 2 albums in Sweden (1973 and 1974) and "Blåblus" without Björn Skifs 2 albums in Sweden (1976 and 1978)..but to confuse it some Björn Skifs as a solo artist released an album called "Blåblus" 1972 🙂

I hate it when these Music reaction people do not research their topic 1) pronunciation = Blue SWEED not swade 2) original version, by B.J. Thomas [no ooga chaka] 1968. 3) The original oogo chaka version was done by Johnathan King in 1971. 4) the Blue Swede version was 1973 and is a cover/copy of King's version.
