Sinossi . (00:06) Bluebeard gives a reception for the purpose of finding a wife. But the guests reject his advances, (00:39) so he puts all his wealth on display until a bridesmaid is forced by her own father to accept the marriage proposal (01:51). Bluebeard goes with his bride to the kitchens (02:22) where the sumptuous wedding feast is being prepared.
(03:38) In the dining room the newlyweds welcome the guests around their table.
(04:30) Bluebeard must leave on a journey; he goes to his wife's rooms to leave her the keys to all the rooms in the castle, even the key to the room that is never to be opened. As the husband leaves, (05:26) the wife is immediately bitten by curiosity to which she eventually succumbs by entering the forbidden room. (06:08) The interior is dark, so the woman opens a window to shed light (06:19) and the horrible secret is revealed to her eyes: the dangling corpses of Bluebeard's seven previous wives. The woman is gripped by terror, which increases when she notices that the key, dropped on the floor, is stained with blood. She tries to clean it, but is unsuccessful.
(07:45) The next morning, Bluebeard returns to his castle and in the courtyard surprises his wife who is still trying to clean up the stained key, thus discovering the betrayal. (08:31) The woman reaches the castle tower from which she tries to call for help, but her violent husband catches up with her and drags her down.(09:00) In the courtyard of the castle, Bluebeard is about to kill his wife, but here come her brothers who will give him a good thrashing.
