Every blade aficionado should have one of these. I picked up the blade grinding attachment and sharpened everything in the house. Wife was not super pleased. Keep up the excellent vids my man!

Lucky you, my wife hounds me to sharpen everything lol. The grinding attachment was huge difference for me. I just love the free hand feel and not being restricted. Makes sharpening a breeze. Thanks Daniel👊

Thank you for the excellent shapening tutorial. You really make shapening look a little easier and more manageable with this shapener. Just kidding. Thanks again Justin.

Quite manageable lol. It definitely makes quick work out of sharpening. Thanks Jay👊

Thanks for the vid!. I've actually begun sharpening the "flat" side of the serration on my Ken Onion. A burr is formed on the serrated side and a few passes with a diamond rod down each serration makes for a wicked serration. Good job!!!
@BlueCollarSurvival5 жыл бұрын
I do the same thing on my serrations. Puts a nice bevel on the flat side and like you said it makes wicked serrations. I thought I was the only one lol. Thanks Bubba👊

“Shapening” actually isn’t a bad term for what you do with the coarse grit belt. Describes what’s happening perfectly. I think i’m gonna call it shapening from now on.

Great advice on when to remove the blade! I have had that happen on my small hatchet, removed the pointed end and now its rounded lol (live and learn right).
@BlueCollarSurvival5 жыл бұрын
It only takes a blink of an eye too. I took the tip of a cheapy just to see how quick it would remove it and it was very quick. There's definitely a learning curve with this thing. That's what I tell people to start out with really cheap knives. Thanks Walt👊

The Ken onion is a better set up than my plain work sharp that I rounded the tip off on a s90v reverse tanto when I first got it man did that suck LoL. Thanks Justin great video

Rodney Pearson I agree the ken onion is way better than the original
@BlueCollarSurvival5 жыл бұрын
It don't take much to take a tip off. I'm not a fan of the original Work Sharp. I hardly use the Ken Onion without the grinder attachment. I do highly recommend this. Thanks Rodney👊

All other videos and the manual that came with my Ken Onion say put the blade against the belt and THEN turn it on. The method this video shows will put a nice cup on your blade where it first makes contact with the belt. PUT THE BLADE AGAINST THE BELT WITH THE SHARPENER TURNED OFF- THEN TURN IT ON!

OK... The guide can scratch the side of a blade... That comes from the guide side. What if you put blue painters tape over those guides? Or, even a thin felt pad? Would they lessen the scratching or just be in the way?
@BlueCollarSurvival3 жыл бұрын
Better to put painters tape on the blade. The scratches are caused by the metallic dust that accumulates on the guides.

Hi, can i sharpen expensive salon shears with the Ken Onion? Thanks, Cheers... Tom
@BlueCollarSurvival4 жыл бұрын
Maybe but I believe it may create an issue because the Ken Onion puts a convex grind on blades and I feel like flat grind would be a more beneficial result.

get frustrated when people publish videos that go against company directions!!! Your technique makes it impossible to get a burr but you can get a hair whittling edge without a burr?

I've had no issues with the way I do it. You gotta find what makes you comfortable while sharpening. Their directions are more like suggestions.

You are not show proper sharpening technique. Belt 1, you should of stayed on side 1 of knife until you raised a burr then done the same for side 2 of knife. You was doing a stropping technique.

I know for most people two hundred dollars isn’t that much but I want this ken onion model but I only get $672 a month from my government to live on for the month and from that includes phone and satalite tv at 160$ a month and it’s ALL reruns!!!!!!! Could someone please send me one of these sharpeners!!!! I’ve never seen tomatoes cry till I used the knife I just couldn’t sharpen and I used stroping straps and sharpening stones with an oil.......If you think I am just being greedy well I would be sharpening for the elderly people in my apartment building more than myself and at NO charge to them

@@devin3706 Right? My thoughts exactly. If phone service and satellite TV really cost that much a month, and it's all reruns anyways, why not just cancel it, (one month alone will easily cover the cost for one on Amazon) save for a month or two, and buy it like the rest of us did? Phone service can be had for pretty cheap nowadays, and I've never heard of sharpening knives for the elderly used as a charitable service... 😂😂😂
