I truly appreciate the way Jason sets proper expectations as it relates to weed control with Homeowners. I deal with clients everyday in a different industry and I have learned through success and failure that life is much better when there are no surprises on the journey to meeting short-term and long-term expectations. Jason seems like a very nice guy and a real professional. I bet though he can get pretty fired up pretty quickly He would fit in great down here in SW Mississippi. His passion shines through!! Thanks Jason.

Can you not kill torpedo with like a brush/grass weed killer and reseed in the fall? I don't know a thing about torpedo I just figured starting over from scratch isn't really all that big of a deal.
@lawncarelife3 жыл бұрын
We don't typically reseed warm season grasses. Seeding would be done in the summertime. With that being said, I guess killing the entire lawn and starting over is always an option
@AMckentuck3 жыл бұрын
@@lawncarelife okay i was just curious i am in the cool season lawn i know nothing about warm season grass types or the troubles you all go through. Cool season grass you can kill it all and reseed in the fall and its not a big deal.

Wish I could post a picture.. I have a weed that simply will not die. It's a grassy weed that grows in snake like pattern. The roots are difficult to pull and spraying it only makes it brown up then it greens up again.

I like Jason alot because I never feel like he's trying to sell anything. And he often prefaces his advice by saying that it's based on his experience and opinion. Thanks for always being real with us! Now... time for me to get out in the yard and spray some Quinclorac. Totally missed my fall pre-emergent window last year and now I've got poa, ryegrass and a few other weeds living rent free out there!

No. See most of the turfgrass we use is actually a invasive species from some other region.

I have purple flowering weeds all over my my lawn with a dozen other kinds. Put out some weed and feed but just found out that doesn’t work. What do I need to spray on it? T
@philthelawnman3 жыл бұрын
2 4 D you must apply it at around 1.5 ounces per 1000 square feet if a 1% mix in the sprayer. Learn how long it takes to spray one gallon and the you have to walk the 1000 square feet In the gallon time. Temperatures affect the activity. Your Diluent must be able to carry the 2. 4. D also do not put 2 4 D on new grass till it has reached its mowing height and been cut 3 times. Now it sounds like you have a crop of hobbit wich is a annual. Preemergant in the late fall is best long term control. Hope that helps.

@onthelawntraining52053 жыл бұрын
How much prodiamine wdg do you recommend putting down per 1000sqf in the fall to get better control throughout the fall and winter?

1.15 lbs. I believe that is half the annual rate

@leemikle22423 жыл бұрын
Ever consider smoking it completely off, power rake it, airerate it, overseed, and water? Might be easier going that route if you can tolerate a month of an eyesore lawn until the new stuff germinates.
@Happy321533 жыл бұрын
@@leemikle2242 that’s exactly what I did. Planting with peat moss, compost, and micro nutrients a week before some rain and hopefully a wetter season 🤞

@@Happy32153 good job sir. I treated my lawn with spray and 90% has rapid weed death, 10 percent I’ll reapply after a few weeks. If the weeds still hold out I’m going to square out an area and kill everything and start over like you did. Hope your yard looks at minimum twice a good as it did!!!

Jason, I'm in Tuscaloosa, AL. My lawn front and back is full of every southern weed known to the lawn care industry. I've got lots and lots of poa(?) in the backyard which I think is a nice Bermuda grass lawn w/o the poa. I'm originally from the Chicago area (KY Bluegrass is what grows in that northern climate well) so southern weed killing is new to me. What do I use to start killing some of these weeds? I put Imagine down front and back in the fall and I think it did nothing. Wrong product completely?? Any advice you can give me would be very much appreciated. Thank you.
@lawncarelife3 жыл бұрын
Most of the weeds in your lawn now are going to die out on their own about May. The problem is a whole new batch of Summer weeds are coming. Typically you need to put a pre-emergent out in January or February. You can try it now and it will help but it's possible that you've already missed the window and some of the crab grass and other summer weeds have already germinated. A pre-emergent application in September will greatly reduce the amount of weeds you have in your lawn next spring
@cynthiarafferty76623 жыл бұрын
Thank you Jason. Lawn care and timing are a different than what I'm use to doing. Yep, I thought I screwed up already. The entire neighborhood is a weedy mess though so that doesn't help either. Thanks again.

Another informative video. Thank you. In California, there is a significant demand for organic weed control. From what I have learned, organic post emergent products are essentially pricey, not-that-effective desiccants. No organic pre-emergents on the radar. Furthermore, the Round Up controversy is feeding the weed infestation problem. We are in a quandry out here. Lots of very strong feelings/fears about inorganics. Would really appreciate your thoughts about organics.
@lawncarelife3 жыл бұрын
I imagine the market for Organics is much different in California than here in Alabama
@wayneblanchard43473 жыл бұрын
@@lawncarelife Probably is much different. Inorganic pesticide use is getting restricted. Turfgrass installs are getting restricted due to increases in demands on water supply. Housing density is essentially removing landscape areas that would get weed infested. It's a big deal. When I see your expanses of turfgrass. It's almost like another planet.
