That was the spinning rod yes. It was undersized for these 40-50 lbs fish. San Diego is a fun place to fish. Not as much variety but great fishery.

@@RomanCastroVlog Hi Roman, I’m coming along as well as can be. The PT folks have been very helpful and said that I was recovering quicker than expected. The surgeon was happy as well so hopefully I can get a little stronger and find my way back on the water. Thank you for asking 🙂 There have been a handful of guys who put 40-70# BFT on their kayaks a few weeks ago. The key is to totally avoid the weekends due to all the boat traffic, the tuna are a no show. The guys caught them during the week 2-4 miles off shore anywhere from straight out of the harbor and then up north out from Salt Creek. They are finding the puddling bait balls and just staying with them. Sometimes the tuna will bust the surface or just bite a little deeper, or sometimes not at all. I know someone got one on a Spanish Mak but not sure what everyone else got theirs on. I’m pretty sure it was live bait no jigs. I hope you guys get a chance to get out there and find some, good luck!

💯 correct. A long time ago I landed a 100 lbs yellow fin on 15 lbs test and it took me a hour to fight it. It was on a old school tld5. Back when most were throwing big sss gear and people would get pissed if you brought small gear on a boat especially bass gear.

Hi Mario, Kevin had it setup with an old Cousins rod that broke a few trips later. We are in the process of building some Seeker Rods. I'll put out a video with the full setup explained and some options. Fishing gear is hard to come by right now. Even parts to build them are scarce.

Hi Thomas, Brian's boat is a Bayliner Element F21. It's great in the bays and did pretty well chasing theses tuna. The only issue is that you are fighting the fish without high gunnel or rail to rest the rod on. It's great for casting from though.
