That is Awesome Tod. Must have been a hell of a ride to work with so much talent in those days. I can only count on one hand bands that I can call musicians today. A few favorites being Bullet For My Valentine. I love their old School influence. Sevendust. (just wow) Tool. Dream Theater. maybe more than a few. But I remember the days where you would pop in a Cassette and EVERY song was just awesome. Cant really say that anymore.

HEY TOD, I REMEMBER THE DAY YA'LL SHOT THIS VIDEO FOR US BACK IN 93' I BELIEVE IT WAS. AT THE TIME I WAS JOHN'S GT. TECH & PERSONAL ASST. LIVE AND IN STUDIO FROM 1992-94. THIS VIDEO WAS MADE AS A PROMOTIONAL PIECE FOR USE IN JAPAN ONLY AT THAT TIME. BRINGS BACK ALOT OF MEMORIES. IT TOOK 2+ YRS TO COMPLETE N.B.T. JUST TO HAVE IT SHELVED BY GEFFIN. UNFORTUNATELY JOHN KALODNAR'S LACK OF INTRUST TO FULFILL THE CONDITIONS OF JOHN'S CONTRACT IN THE END WAS A HUGE LOSS TO EVERYONE INVOLVED. 'NOTH'N BUT TROUBLE' CONTAINS SOME OF JOHN'S BEST WORK TO DATE. -DANNYBOY 2016

One of the most amazing and talented guitarist/artist of all time. Just terrible timing what happened with Whitesnake. He deserved to ride out the 80's "glam metal" era properly and be remembered by anyone who picks up guitar to learn to play something similar. But everything he did was magic, a true artist of the instrument. The shit him, Phil, and Moore are making up in heaven right now is probably the most legendary shit of all time! Rest in Power John! The biggest inspiration to my father and I as guitarists. You touched generations younger than you would've ever known. God bless!

We (Dir. Tod Mesirow and his team) did this video on an extremely minuscule budget as part of a promo package for use in (Japan only). This video for 'We All Fall Down' off BM's "Nothing But Trouble" was never intended to be televised or released in the states to promote BM's seriously underrated sophomore and last album N.B.T. I was John's ft in-studio/road guitar tech as well as personal asst. from 92'- 95'. Worked throughout the NBT studio sessions in JS private studio in LA. and during the post prod. sessions asst. on behalf of John Sykes to Mike Fraser post prod. mixer via the Record Plant West 'Studio 2'. I went to John's house in Northridge to interview him for 'Nothing But Trouble' which was a thrill since I had been a fan since the Tygers days. We hung out for a bit afterwards - he told BM had an offer to tour Europe with this band Dream Theater but wasn't sure if he should go for it. I told him he should but he must've decided against it - probably felt it was slightly beneath him to open up for DT who were just starting to break thru at the time. I also took a couple of JS era Thin Lizzy live videos with me which we ended up watching in his living room. Will always remember that afternoon. P.S.: I assume the 'We All Fall Down video was shot at Third Encore on Vanowen. I remember stopping by there once with a friend of Marco's when BM were rehearing there for what must've been a tour of Japan.

I'm so sad. I play the first Blue Murder record at least once a month. My wife one day asked if it was Whitesnake and I said it was Whitesnake's soul. She looked at me confused and then I explained the complicated history of that band and how this man didn't get the credit he deserved. Usually when I play a band that she doesn't know the name of she goes running but I can play Blue Murder anytime I want. Rest in peace and thank you for being amazing.
@hek8ay
@hek8ay 9 күн бұрын
it's very clearly not whitesnake's soul. how many albums did whitesnake release before JS joined? JS was enormouisly talented and led to the phenomenal 1987, but Whitesnake's soul always was Coverdale, who sadly, couldnt handle the competition from JS and cruely and unjustly fired him from the band.

His voice sounds like Phil Lynott at times! Maybe that's why he joined thin Lizzy? Thunder and lightning is an amazing album...

Go listen to his first band STREETFIGHER - they were literally a Lizzy tribute band. John had the TL vibe down years before he joined that band.

It really is an underrated gem, much like the John Sykes follow up "out of my tree".

What a band !!! The punch, the groove, the voice of John was all there. John, besides, your talent as a musician, you are beautiful. I keep listening to all the songs, music and solos you did, John. I wish you would come back. I’ll drive thousands of miles around the planet, wait for hours to see you on stage. Do you hear the call of your fans? We miss you I love you very much, John. ❤❤🤘🤘🎸🎸

I swear this sounds just like a Thin Lizzy song. He even sounds like Phil Lynnot on parts of this. Awesome band.

I preferred the first album but this was a good opener and in these discussions of guitar prowess it is easy to overlook John's great vocals and they really came to the fore in Blue Murder.

I first heard this song when I was a kid, and I forgot this song for a long time, but for the last few years, this song would occasionally come up in my dreams. Or I would wake up with it playing in my mind. I had to look this song up.

DUDE! Sykes put Coverdale on the map. I don't care what anyone says. One of my all-time favs. Huge influence on me, musically. Unreal talent and ear for what sounded perfect at just the right time.
