My father had the same operation back in the 70’s years later on this death bed he said “I always thought I was going to die of a heartache”. His heart never did fail after that operation. Cancer got him. Wishing you the best Jimmy, play on and enjoy your family time.

@@curbozerboomer1773Look man, SRV And Jimmy are not in a competition. Just Enjoy the music. and Jimmy taught Stevie how to play and Stevie from there made his name and so did Jimmy in his own right. Both came from same Music Genre and had different journey. Instead of looking who is legend, they both gave us a great memories and musical experience. Can you imagine being Stevie big brother and losing him and still be able to sing about him. that's who Jimmy Vaughan is.

Man people always talk about SRV and they should as well. He is a personal Guitar Hero of mine. But what they don't realise is how big of an inspiration Jimmie was in his early years. Had it not been for this man, we might have never heard of Stevie as a Musician. JRV is a stellar Musican songwriter in his own rights.

I think he does from other musicians (and their audiences), but traditional blues music is far outside the musical mainstream these days. A couple years ago, Texas Flood: The Inside Story of SRV authors Alan Paul and Andy Aledort, did an online group chat to promote the book, and their perspective on Jimmie’s career was insightful. (That entire hour-long chat is interesting and worth a listen, full of insight on the SRV world.)

I was lucky. I didn't have a heart attack or any symptoms, but because of my age (61 then ----2012) my doctor recommended a stress test. Long story short, I also had a quad bypass, and after 6 months, returned to my band who had waited for me, and to my taekwondo class, who had not. Bless Jimmie, and I recommend a heart stress test for anyone 50 or older. You might feel great, but so did I, even though I was a heartbeat away from dropping dead.
