I am 49 amd Noel Blake is still my favourite player of all time, love him. I talk about him all the time when people ask me about first memories of football. Noel Blake, Howard Gayle, Mick Harford, Robert Hopkins were mine 💙 KRO.

You talked about the Boxing Day Villa game. At the time I was 16 and lived in Lydney, no buses or trains to Gloucester, so set out at 4.30 am to hitch hike. No lift, so walked 22 miles to Gloucester bus station. Bus to Digbeth , then walked to St Andrews. After the game, ran back to Digbeth to catch 5.00 bus back to Gloucester. Started to hitch hike back , again no lift. Got to Westbury where there was a phone box. Called my mum, asked if my step dad could pick up , he wasn’t keen, but eventually agreed. When he arrived, I understood why, let’s just say he had a few to drink during the day. Overall must have walked 40 miles that day. Great memory and so worth it for the result.

@@peterfalk7084 I know live near Stafford, but have friends in Lydney and travel back several times a year. Can’t recall another Blues fan in the town, back in the 80’s. Probably was one or two about and no doubt someone drove to the Boxing Day match I spoke about.☹️

I am 63 and remember Noel he was brilliant never backed out a challenge always gave his all for us years later l was on holiday in devon and there was a pre season friendly at Exeter and Noel was there as there Manager so l shouted to him to the disgust of my wife and two children he just stared back at this looney bluenose total respect to you Noel thanks for your sweat and blood for our Blues KRO

I was there when Blake had that incident with MacMahon who was a dirty player proper, brodhurst had his nee shaterd, the tunnel at the half way line just inside MacMahon was put to sleep by a marvellous Glasgow kiss from blake😂

I think the council rolling out the red carpet says a lot about these owners and them being the real deal. Council never bothered with Blues before. Saturday was great not felt a buzz like that for a long time

I played in the same school team as Noel, it was Alderlea boys, even though Noel missed his penalty in the final against Kinghurst, who Gary Shaw played for at that time so was happy to track his career as a blue nose! I will even forgive him for the FA cup match against Watford, when John Barnes turned him inside out ! Even better when he head butted Steve Mac in the Villa derby and Gary Newbon (Villa scum lol) tried to hang him out to dry! Happy days .... KRO! Love to see this sleeping giant rise, before I pop my clogs ! Make St Andrews the fortress it was in the old days!
