I think it will just be an upgraded FSX. It will be as realistic as FSX, maybe a bit more realistic because of modern technology. Remember you could play FSX with an Xbox 360 controller back in the day, they even had it in the commercial.

I’m really expecting them to make that happen, but i’m starting to get doubts of immersive simulation due to the fact that it’s also going to be released on XBOX. They’re not focused on mfs to be released on pc rather than XBOX. It sucks because there is zero demand for a flight simulator on XBOX. At this point microsoft is just shooting themselves in the foot. There are A LOT of limitations for a flight simulator on a console.

Cherries Yeah it seems like they’re gonna adapt an in depth sim on to console, which is something new. Their website says that it will release for PC then XBOX will be released later after that. They also say that they’re working very close to the flight sim community, and filling the demands of what the flight simmers want. To me it sounds like this is going to be an in-depth sim and not an arcade like game due to the fact that they’re target audience is flight simmers. I’m sure they learned from their Microsoft Flight disaster to not make a flight simulator arcade like style, i’m looking forward to see what they bring to the table.

Australian flying doctor / bush pilot missions might be interesting, gives you the chance to buzz the Ghan or fly over the 'secret' installation outside Alice Springs

Let's just hope Microsoft learned their lesson after Microsoft Flight. Don't just make this for the console MS, think of those gaming PCs with advanced yokes, throttles, and rudder pedals (not just XBox controllers). Will this be a sim or a game? Also, I'm interested to see if they give the third party devs and community the tools to build the environment or if they will lock it down for the $$$? If not, I am sticking with X-Plane! I'm also interested in the physics. So far, XP has them all by leaps and bounds! Good to see this though, I am hesitantly excited as a long time simmer way back to FS 98 and before!

Well, the developer who gave an interview specifically talked about the hardcore PC fans who bought millions of copies. So maybe that means they care about that group still? This is likely going to have a monthly subscription for the streaming, which means pushing out a shallow, limited experience would work against them. They need something to keep people paying for years to come.

If you look closely you can just make out the famous basilique Notre Dame de la garde, perched on a hill, overlooking the city 5:58 That's the same city, seen from the island castle "Chateau d'If". It's the best portrayal of Marseille and it's surroundings I've seen in any sim so far. Too bad it will be an xbox exclusive

12:43 Grass blades on a flightsim. GRASS. BLADES. About the weather recreation, the FS team said that the game should be able to recreate any kind of meteorology, as the clouds are volumetric and on 32 different layers.

I think they will release a simulator version on PC first, and then they will release a stripped down, simplified version on Xbox One. It will have the same physics and all, but just simplified controls.

It was on the Xbox show. But for sure there will be PC version. You can play X plane with a controller if you really want to. When I was a pauper I was forced to, then I eventually got a HOTAS and my sim life was changed. I don’t imagine Microsoft would give the name of flight sim to anything less than a full sim

In the future it wont be about the power of your computer but the speed of your internet. The time will come when all we need is a screen (or VR headset) and our games will be rendered entirely server side on powerful work stations. The question will be whether we pay a one off price for a game or if everything becomes subscription!

I don't know if you didn't mention it because you didn't recognize it or because it it's just some cool scenery, but that was the Arizona Meteor Crater. I've visited there a couple of times over the years. More than a mile across. A couple of things mentioned in other video first-looks: The mention of satellite technology indicates that there will be a lot less auto-gen and more real buildings. One reviewer said that in the lower-right corner of the scene looking back at the Space Needle he saw a McDonald's. I can't confirm this, but I'm old. Maybe somebody else can. The scene looking down on the docks showed two very nice cargo ships, with cars parked nearby. This looked very real. I know, "They're only showing the good". Still, they did say they're using satellite 4K imagery. Is that for the game, or just for the video. I guess we'll have to wait. Anyway, I just discovered your channel. Great video!

According to the license terms, Microsoft had the right to obtain all of the code Dovetail added to the engine to make Flight Sim World. The new flight simulator is clearly using Truesky clouds, which Dovetail had exclusive rights to use. It makes me wonder if they built a new engine to accommodate old features or if they reworked the old engine to accommodate new features.

The problem with the simulators is like putting make up in dead people. They improve outside but the cockpits have lots of things that don't work. They should improve the cockpit display and functionality. In most of these flight simulators lots of the buttons don't work. Just recently we are able to program the FMC on a flight simulator. Too much outside improvement and poor inside reality. They should make better airplanes and not better clouds. We need more simulator mentality and less game mentality.

Forgive me but isn’t it a bit boring playing civilian flight sims? I play military flight sims like DCS but if you are just flying a jet passenger liner just flying on autopilot, I can imagine that’s a bit boring.

Since I am a pilot I originally got FS 2004 to stay current, so I am all for the sim part of flight simulator. For that use MSFS is great. Having flown X-9, I am not much a fan of X-Plane. But FSX is not without sin. When I tried to load FSX to Win 10, I got a NON-compatible message. What? This is an MS product to an MS product. So, I went back to Win 7, which is going away in 6 months. Again, WTF? Still, those graphics are fantastic. MS has said that over the years, MSFS is by far their most popular "game". So, why sell to Dovetail? I don't like the idea of needing the internet to use what was a standalone program. That really smacks of big brother again. And believe me, X-Finity loves that stuff, the moral (less) arbiter unless it is for Amazon. Being a pilot, flight dynamics are VERY important. And here again, FSX is not without sin. The turbine lag is WAY overdone. I have flown a bunch of real PT6s and none of them lag anything like that bad. And one other dynamics issue is pitch up at slower airspeeds. There is no way any modern aircraft pitches up so bad that you can't see the runway. That is part of the reason flaps were invented. In my experience, usually, it is easy to load FS 2004 aircraft to FSX. And they work just fine. Like you say, we will have to wait and see. Why doesn't MS wake up? They keep trying to shed Flight Sim and they keep bringing it back. A simple answer might be support. But suppose you could not easily upgrade from Win 7 to Win 10? People would flock to MAC faster than a hex-core. Sorry, rant over.

At 5:52 it is the Chateau d'If, near Marseille in France. Look the city has no skyscrapers, it is not San Francisco. At 5:58 middle top, we can see Notre Dame de la Garde cathedral! This is a VERY GOOD SIGN: it is good not only in America. At 12:44 to 12:45 it is Courchevel in the French Alps. By comparison, in FSX, Courchevel was absolute rubbish; it is only with add-ons by LLH (www.llhinfo.com/llh5.html) that you can have a good Courchevel in FSX.

The visuals in this redefine "jaw-dropping". Just beyond stunning. I mean it can't get any better than what is being shown. The frame rates are butter smooth , as in what you get in real life.That being said, I can't even BEGIN to imagine the PC hardware required to drive those visuals. It's got to be alien technology, because what we currently have can't deliver those visuals. 😉 I think what Blu said is accurate. Its either localized hi-fi scenery or much more likely, it's server-streamed scenery. I noticed it said "powered by Azure AI". Not sure what that is, but it must be what controls the ATC? As for game or sim, my money is on something in between leaning toward game. Hope I am proven wrong...

I found out that azure ai is a tool used to draw the scenery and 3d buildings or something. So not ATC

Azure ai is pretty much Microsoft servers computing some or all of the game. Like the flight engine may be modeled by your hardware in your computer, but the weather and traffic and extra bits are calculated in an ai server offsite, which requires no powerful hardware on your end

I think we all expect far too much... Maybe best to expect not that much, and be nicely pleased if it's better. We know what happened to Flight. Also, if the whole world is that good, it could be impossible to have it all on SSDs, and it may be a streaming system. The Internet will explode! Or it will be slow to download... You have to remember that this is all cinematic so this is 100% not what the game is going to look like.

I think you'll be surprised. FSX can look almost as good running with graphics mods on modern hardware. I saw nothing in this trailer that a high end gaming PC wouldn't be able to handle.

Of course it probably takes a RTX 2080 to run it like the trailer but it's not like these graphics are impossible to achieve in real time. After a couple of years a mid range PC will max this game out.

According to them, it has been 5 years they are working on it.... If it's for an arcade game, that would be the worst investment ever.... I really do think the focus will be on AI and cloud based system. Otherwise it's simply impossible...
