About Blur:
Blur were formed in 1989 by Damon Albarn, Graham Coxon, Alex James and Dave Rowntree and signed with Food/EMI the same year. Announcing their arrival with debut album Leisure in 1991, Blur continued to revolutionise the sound of English popular music with second release Modern Life Is Rubbish (1993). Five successive UK #1 albums followed - with Parklife (1994) and The Great Escape (1995) helping to propel the band to mass popularity in the UK and beyond. The eponymous Blur was released in (1997) and seventh album Think Tank (2003) was Blur’s first as a three-piece after the temporary departure of founding guitarist Graham Coxon.
Twenty one years after the release of their debut album, 2012 saw Blur 21: The Box, the band's body of work compiled and gathered together into one box. Their most recent release as a four-piece, the critically acclaimed chart-topping album The Magic Whip (2015), started life in Hong Kong when the band had an unexpected break in touring in May 2013.

Must have been amazing to have lived in a time when this was considered accessible pop music for the masses - there's really creative musicianship and musical interplay combined with socially conscious and aware lyrics, there aren't many if any pop acts out there today with their eyes open like this.

@@AgsmaJustAgsma Im sure that wasnt the intention, Blur dealt with off kilter tunes, far from being a "good vibe" its spose to signify the guy's descent into madness under the guise of hedonism which is what youre no doubt confusing as the "good vibe" but this is in no way a feel good tune. Blur's themes on thier first three albums generally dealt with ennui and the insanity of people living boring repetitive lives in the suburbs.

I'd choose the second one. Maybe Noel IS a great songwriter, but join a band and said that he will write all the songs by himself is so selfish, in contrast to blur with damon writing the lyrics and the music but the music was a collaborative process of the 4 members, and that's what makes blur better than oasis.

Rodrigo Manuel Ibarra Juarez Just because it was a "collaborative effort" doesn't mean it's better. You cannot just claim that because everyone was getting along and working as a whole that makes them automatically better than oasis. Oasis method worked, why complain about it. Liam was never a good songwriter and the others were average at best. Noel alone, was able to make some of the best songs of the 90s and today, if it isn't broke, don't fix it. Simply because their not writing the lyrics together doesn't mean the band isn't a group effort. I could aknowledge and respect any other argument as to why blur is better, but the argument because they all wrote songs together is horseshit.

I always thought Oasis were so much better than Blur, but then I actually really started listening to Blur in depth....

oasis were better pal. but blur were pretty good i could be wrong but i get the feeling these were from a richer background than oasis in my opinion it shows in their lyrics.

You're all crazy. Oasis and blur were both incredible. Oasis had hooks that made you cry, life forever, slide away, stand by me, girl in a dirty shirt, I hope I think I know, all of morning glory, etc, if u wanna talk just pure pop perfection their 1994-1997 period blew blur out of the water. But blur was always superior as far as musicianship and changed constantly. Blur was so consistent and awesome at every turn. U can't choose one. Screw u all for trying to pick one over the other. Why can't you just love them both and agree that they were both far better than nirvana. Lol. And I'm american!

Can always hear very early pink floyd and syd barrett influences in their music. Brilliant band and way better than oasis although they were also awesome

I thought this is great, I was in college reading a lot of Martin Amis, and here is this band obviously influenced by Amis and other lit sources: they do what they do, or did, bloody perfeCK.
