Blushda fill - drum lesson

In this video, I break down a fill that uses blushdas. This is easily one of my favorite chops to play. It sounds like "blusha blushda bl-blusha blusha blusha." Y'know?

Nah, Swiss triplets are like interlocked doubles. I'm just not alternating the sticking. Swiss triplets = LR R L LR R L // RL L R RL L R

james futch II Thank you! Glad you were able to use this lick! :) However, I can assure you this is a flam accent. It seems like I'm playing Swiss triplets because I'm not alternating the sticking of the flam accent. It's an incredibly subtle difference! This lick is based around repeated left-handed flam accents -- rL R L rL R L -- whereas a Swiss triplet would be -- lR R L lR R L. Very very tiny difference, but it would totally change the effect of those fat flams between the kick, cymbal, and snare if they were Swiss triplets.

theoldshitadookie It’s actually not. If it were a Swiss triplet with a diddle on the middle note the flam would be a right flam. If you were going to equate it to a rudiment, it would be a non alternating left flam drag.

Beautiful demo, but what's the musical sense to flam off the cymbal on the 1st beat? It's meaningless. Better to play both hands together.

Bas Janssen This rudiment really doesn’t share any relationship to the Swiss because the Swiss with a drag would be lR ll r and this is sticked as rL rr l so it’s really a non-alternating left flam drag.
