I just bought it and found this eternal problem of the battery indicator coming and going, it's the same as on the original bmpcc, I was thinking of buying the grip, but I'll change my mind.Thank's for your review

Always professional, so how should I charge those battery ?
@thesavagefilmmaker2 жыл бұрын
If you use V-mount batteries, you'll need a D-tap charger, the core SWX comes with one. If you're using NPF batteries you can buy a dual Sony NPF charger very affordably.

yupp, just saved myself 145 dollars. I took my pro out with 4 np-f550 batteries and I got less than an 1:30 minutes.i purchased smallrig ssd mount that opens like a phone holder. the side has a quarter 20 screw, I mounted an older ssd holder to that and I put an npf battery plate with the connector in the new holder....right on top of the quarter 20 thread on the camera. I use the 750 npf s (lower profile) with 3 batteries I shot 5.7 k 8.1 braw, monitor 100% for over 5hrs!!

i did a 12 hour-7 day reality shoot with an a7sii, using off-brand batteries that gave me an average of 50mins per charge. it is annoying, but workable, just need to buy a dozen batteries and put them in a small back pack (for npf the neewer batteries are cheap and seem to do a decent job in my testing)
@thesavagefilmmaker3 жыл бұрын
You can absolutely use this method very successfully, but I've had so many good takes or ready to shoot moments be stolen due to having to do a battery swap that I'm over that method now. Bring me battery life or bring me death!

@@thesavagefilmmaker unrelated but have you seen the wooden camera a-box? Seems like a good permanent solution to the mini xlr ports.

since nobody has any np 570's anywhere is it safe to use a mix of 570's and 550's??
@thesavagefilmmaker3 жыл бұрын
Yes they work, they just don't last very long.
@adamtemple94173 жыл бұрын
So I'm going to go out on a limb here and say your issue is with mixing the battery types. The 2 in the camber are charging the one in the camera. At different mills your freaking out the multimeter in the camera, each battery is pushing charge differently to one another. Knowing blackmagic and their first firmware fun, you should only use the bm batteries.
@thesavagefilmmaker3 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the insight Adam. Great to know, but I've shifted back to a V-mount battery solution the form factor of this alone was too awkward and unbalanced for me to deal with day to day.
@adamtemple94173 жыл бұрын
@@thesavagefilmmaker Yeah I didn't even bother. I only go battery with these if I'm on a gymbol
@Ryan-Payne3 жыл бұрын
came to say this! you can't mix batteries when they're connected in parallel as they attempt to charge the weak link.

Does anyone know if it's possible to use the XS Powerbase Edge on a gimbal with the camera? Of course with a gimbal to hold all the weight, thanks!
@thesavagefilmmaker3 жыл бұрын
Never tried this, I feel like you'd be better off moving the Powerbase onto the Gimbal handle seperately and connecting via a D-tap to Weipu cable.

@pinang1 Жыл бұрын
wait so that means your 3 batteries last longer when you actually reload the camera itself one battery after the other rather than using this thing that supposed to prolong the battery life? cause even off-brand battery is 37 min. Times three it should be way more than 77min. seems like it does more harm than good.
@thesavagefilmmaker Жыл бұрын
That is with the screen up in brightness. But umm yeah, look that battery grip was terrible in my opinion!
@pinang1 Жыл бұрын
@@thesavagefilmmaker did you ever have a noise issue with the camera fan? It seems like it's quite loud. I think it can be picked up during interviews. I initially thought that it's the battery grip but it seems like it's coming from the fan on top
@thesavagefilmmaker Жыл бұрын
Generally my shotgun mic would be seperate from the camera for interviews.
@pinang1 Жыл бұрын
@@thesavagefilmmaker yeah mine too, i was just scared it will pick up the fan noise anyway. but it seems like it was all ok. I had it for the shoot yesterday. It was almost new and still seemed like there was a lot of problems with it. Sometimes it would randomly stop responding. Touch screen would work but nothing else. Cables are a nightmare. USB stops connecting when you touch it. There seem to be no warning about the battery as well. Also for some reason during playback it would still show focus assist and zebra so I would have to manually turn it off each time. I love their picture. Was thinking about getting Original Pocket (much easier to use and easier to handle) before despite shit batteries but this one is a bit disappointing. I have a feeling they've tried to save money on it.
@thesavagefilmmaker Жыл бұрын
Give it a chance my friend, this in my opinion is the best Blackmagic camera you can buy, just takes a little bit of work to get the hang of it. You can turn off both focus assist and zebra, by assigning one of the function buttons to remove these things and you can turn off both in the menus system or toggle them on and off with the function buttons (if you have them assigned).
