I just drove the latest (2022) model of this 228i last weekend, and I have to agree about the back seat - it's ridiculous. However, the power, the handling, the comfort up front - perfection! The nice thing is that you can have fun in the bends, really put the engine and transmission through their paces, and still return great fuel economy too. Great car!

The G70 is cheaper, slightly bigger, more powerful, better equipped, RWD-based, etc. Yes I know something like a "G60" would be its competition, but it's just to show you how ridiculously overpriced this 2-Series GC is. And either way, people cross shop mainly by price, not size. The same way I hear tons of people cross shopping the Stinger with a Golf R

I’ve only subscribed to you guys recently having been in Alberta recently and realized how much I missed Canada! Living in the UK I own a new generation 1 series(the hatch variant of the 2 series Grand Coupe). We have more engine options here including diesels too. I think it is better looking. I really like the new generation of the 2 series coupe now based on the 3 series chassis but also have plenty of experience of just about the last of the line 2 series convertible that my Dad has which I love.

I think this car looks really nice. I would love to get one except my current car is less than four years old, has only 25,000 miles on it, and is paid for. Given this combination of factors, it wouldn't be financially responsible to dump my current car. After a few more years when I am ready to replace my current car, this BMW will definitely be on the short list.

I did not like the way it looks in pictures, however at my local BMW dealership when my car was in for service I think it looks really good, plus it is very quick even though it has a detuned BMW 2.0t engine, still 0-60 and 5.1 seconds, similar to the 330i, and in some cases faster than the 330i depending on the publication. Thinking about upgrading to this from my Mini Cooper S which would be awesome because I can use some of the same performance upgrades as it is the b48 engine👌

HELP! in your opinion. What is the best car for gas, and comfortability for long road trips (my husband and I drive to Wisconsin from Tennessee twice a year) some features I would love is lane assist, gps navigation, and rear cross traffic alert. We are hoping to get a vehicle within the next couple months and we are not sure at all because we've always done buy here pay here car shops. We've never went though a dealership. PLZ HELP. I test drove a regular Cadillac CT5 before buying the 228i. The Caddy had crisp handling and a bit of pep, but this felt quicker due to being smaller, and was actually more loaded for less money. I only paid $43,500-ish for the xDrive, M Sport Package, Convenience Package, heated front seats and wheel, and a lot more. I drive a couple Mercedes SUVs before purchasing this (GLB and GLC), and their interiors are stunning, but the driving experience was numb and underwhelming to me. I also drove a used 2020 X3 and absolutely loved it, but my husband liked the tech offerings way more in the 228i, and felt like the X3 looked too used. The 228i has a lot of the same features as my husband’s 2020 Z4 M40i.

In terms of competitors, I'd say the G70 not mentioned here blows this thing out of the water. More horsepower with the 2.0T, and the 3.3T still competes well with the m340. Id say this was a sad attempt from BMW if they aren't going to price it as low as the A3, A250 etc.

The Kia people are actually thinking about when they see this is the 2020 Cadenza. Kia made the 2020 k7 resemble the front end of BMW, particularly in the bumper. Because the Kia K7 is a bigger car, you might find them priced similarly in the aftermarket.

That grill looks out of place with no trim colour. If I was to buy a BMW I think I would want that chrome trimmed like the 240 in the video. It just feels like a Kia or something cheaper with all the black. Hides the extra detail at a distance.

I like this model. It certainly has its place. I think if I were BMW, I might have considered a Gran Turismo (akin to 5-series GT of past) or manufacturing a hatch, instead of a trunk - to make it stand out from the crowd. Its too small and expensive (for its size) for me and most people who are in the midst of family life. But I do believe this market (smaller, DINK and stylish) is an exciting one, and this certainly is one BMW not to be overlooked. Thanks for the video.
