BMW 320D clutch change also flywheel

A clear no BS video to demonstrate how to remove the gearbox, replace the clutch and flywheel then refit the gearbox.
Most BMW gearbox changes are very similar, so this will cover a multitude of models.

Outstanding job Scotty. What were the actual symptoms that led to the repair? I guess some slipping clutch, but vibrations and sounds, changes during depression of clutch etc?

I have one with 100k on the flywheel having felt it when went big and was first dealt with under warrantee. Now it just just has a background vibration that's annoying and is more pronounced at tickover. Both mounts and harmonic balancer have been changed, which made a difference, but were not the root of the issue. All I think I'm left with is this costly fix.@@Scotty66

Hey man, great work! I heard that the bolts of the gearbox housing need to be replaced with new ones after this job because they are from aluminum and can be only used once. Is that true or can we use them more than once? Thanks in advance!

Hi I’ve never heard that before, the bolts are steel, never had one fail in 30 years on any gearbox

hey man , quick question , i have a 320d 150hp 01/2003 BMW 5 speed , on realoem it shows 2 part codes for the clutch kit , on from 03/2003 to 2005 , and another one untill 03/2003 , are they the same? or it wouldnt fit ?

Send the supplier your reg number/chassis number and they will tell you which one

The only symptom I notice on bmw E90 320D(290000km) is that when I press the clutch pedal in first 2cm only I can hear the rough scraping. Despite the fact that I don't have any other symptoms anyway I assume it’s the noise from flywheel so that everything should be changed immediately(DMF + clutch), right?

Probably the release bearing but I would change everything

hi, i am planning on doing a F30 320d clutch change, but was wondering if i can do it without lifting the car? because i have an inspection pit in my garage ! like is the driveshaft tensioned or something when the car is resting on the ground?

Hi, yes it can be done but you will probably need to raise one rear wheel so you can rotate the prop shaft to get at all the bolts

@@Gaztoof no worries, on yours it will be mainly female torx ( can’t remember size but there big ones around the bel housing) otherwise normal sockets
