You can’t just pull the differential cover off and completely drain the gear oil/clean everything out? That’s how I’ve always done it on the American/Dana differentials. They don’t have drain plugs and it’s not hard to take the cover off and reseal it.

would it be fun if that black rubber extension you got get stuck inside the differential? 😂 great video man, you’re pretty funny dude. your KZbin name should “the mechanic MacGyver”

when you were showing the diff there was some shiney looked like wet spots is your diff leaking? reason i ask cause mine looks similar
@JohnnysSpeedShop4 жыл бұрын
Yeah mine was seeping a little from for the rear cover and the front seal, still had plenty of fluid...I'd check your level first if it low or empty time for a few seals..mine was still close to the full mark...

How easy for engineers to put a freaking drain plug in this thing man so frustrating... great job tho 👍
@JohnnysSpeedShop5 жыл бұрын
Yes mate...easy enough job but man......it would be annoying without a lift or a good extractor....

According to BMW's service manual...those differentials were designed to have lifetime oil and not be changed, the same goes for their transmission fluid. But realistically they should've definitely have put a drain plug and also a dipstick

Hi mate, I'll try to change my Axle oil so when I pump out my old Axle oil there is only about 900-950ml(measures with 1liter bottles) came out 😂 so can I fill with new Axle oil without pump out my old Axle oil(I heard full Axle oil was 1-1. 2liter? My car was e90 320d 2011.

There's a small gally at the bottom of the diff that holds a little oil, its designed to hold debris that sinks...is under the pinion gears...sounds like you missed it if you don't have a leak... 😄😄

@@JohnnysSpeedShop ok friend ... while I was filling the new axle oil with 1 liter, only about 850ml could be fully filled before the axle oil came out
@JohnnysSpeedShop3 жыл бұрын
That doesn't sound right at all...is your car level ? Might be a touch low in the rear causing the fluid to look full prematurely....

@@JohnnysSpeedShop what do i need to do now, do i need to re-issue and refill with a new one or continue running and be careful when i want to change in the next future? what is the mileage axle oil need to change?
@JohnnysSpeedShop3 жыл бұрын
@@nikmohdrostamniksoh4457 I would recheck it after making sure the car is very level...if it drips out then leave it...if nothing comes out put more in until is runs out and you should be good to go ...
