I bought my 2008 m5 . 155000 kms. I put on 10000 already love the car no problems. It's all in how you treat it . Drive it stupid be prepared for repairs. Drive it normally spirited without doing burnouts and drifts . Will be fine put gas in and giver. Awesome car one of the best . Love every mile. Don't hesitate and worry about repairs .They are one robust tough car. Get one good value right now.

The multicontour seats are amazing. I experienced them in an F10 550i loaded and at first it's weird. But it keeps you in place amazingly (especially going around a slight bend at 140mph. ) BMW really knows how to make good seats.

The V10 in the E60 M5 is what makes it truly special. Though I would be hesitant purchasing a 10+ year old one now for fear of very expensive repairs ahead. E39 M5 is a safer purchase in that regard.

I had the privilege of driving an estate/touring version of one of these across Europe down to the south of France with my buddy who owned it. Absolutely loved every minute I was behind the wheel...the speed the noise and the power is totally addicting. I'll say one thing this car has lousy gas milage/MPG but if u by a car like that for those reasons then what's the point.

My brother had one of these when I was like 10 years old. I thought it was the dopest thing. One day he let me ride shotgun and it was the first time I ever went over 100 MPH. Unfortunately our mom was in the back seat so he couldn't go ridiculously fast but I was a little kid and I'd never been in anything with more than 200 horsepower so that 60 to 100 pull in full 500+ HP mode was insane to me.

Just did the original rod bearings on My 05 with 140k miles on it. The crazy thing is they still had plenty of life left. Always warm up the engine before beating on it and those rod bearings will last a long time!

I slightly let off the gas when I shift with SMG. It smoothes it out a little. It's not really nose heavy. Near 50/50 balance and 4000lbs. One of my favorites!

That M5 is probably near the top of the M5s that have come out, and that engine is a fantastic thing to listen to ~ That V10 just can't be beat~ SMG transmission takes some getting used to, not the best, but I know those who know drive a BMW with an SMG transmission are used to it and they like it.

The one thing that really sucks about the early E60 M5 models is the odd manufacture defect in the block where the casting was porous in some cars. You'd essentially be sweating coolant and you risk the potential of cracking the block itself. We had an '06 in Cosmos Black with the black interior and SMG. You're not lying about the exhaust when you cut it and straight pipe it, either. It goes from being moderately aggressive to RAISING THE DEMONS FROM HELL levels of loud. Shook my house when my dad would head to work in the morning. That was my alarm clock for 6 years lmao

Depends where you live, and how you do it. If you drive it to bmw dealership it sure will cost a lot, but again depends how much work there is. In general it's twice the price you would pay to some specialist(which is not certified by bmw, but also does pretty good job). It also helps if you're not afraid to get your hands dirty from time to time. :)

Mine's an '08 with a 6-speed, interlagos blue with the black interior. It's a phenomenal car--surprisingly well balanced and nimble for being a spacious sedan. And good-looking, too. I cross shopped it with the second-gen CTS-V sedan and just couldn't get over how ungainly and out-of-proportion the CTS-V looked. The biggest drawback of the V10 (aside from potential repair costs) is that the powerband starts at 5000rpm. Sure, it isn't totally flat below that, but you'll want to drop a gear or two to make a quick pass or smoke that kid in the STi who wants to play.

Always have loved the M5 in every generation. Each generation is different and there is something to like in each body style change. Love the sleeper look of them also. Hopefully Ill be getting ahold of a f10 M5 when they step down in price a bit.

It's not that bad considering a new engine replacement in my Porsche would be $20-$25k.... this car doesn't scare me with parts. And it has an amazing exhaust note and is super comfortable. Great grand tourer
